This is fun, but as another commenter said: Not really any info about *setting up* multi-unit Apollos once you have that. I came here looking for how to make a specific Apollo device in the chain the monitor unit/ master. Two hours later, buried in the manual, I found that you need to *drag the Apollo unit you want to be master to the top of the list* in Console Settings/ Hardware to make it the master! That's not intuitive/ basically a hidden feature! Leaving this comment here for others who may have the same issue.

@@UniversalAudio Thanks, but (a) not mentioned here: help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/205927139-Apollo-Thunderbolt-Multi-Unit-Cascading- and (b) there's no indication at all in the UI about how to do that... bad UX design. A little speaker icon appears next to the master/monitor unit, but you can't click it on/off nor click it on for another unit. And adding a second unit automatically makes the added unit the monitor which is also very weird! Awkward.

Hi there...Im writing from Portugal, congratulations on your channel, i love UA. I have a question if you can answer me or help. I saw a video about adding 8 adat inputs to the Twin, so my problem is that i have my Apollo quad firewire connected and im using a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 usb as Adat extra inputs...They are connected Adat in to out and Out to in on my Apollo quad Firewire. Its working fine but my question is about the clock. When i set the Ua Apollo Quad as master i can ear pops and digital picks sometimes... and when i set the focusrite as master and Ua Apollo as Adat sync Slave is working very fine, no more clicks or digital annoying sounds... So its the focusrite scarlet 18I20 better clock then UA Apollo Quad firewire? Or there is a trick to do to prevent this and use my Apollo as a Master clock?Thank you
@UniversalAudio5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucas, clocking often requires experimentation to find the right combo. Seems you've found the right combo for your situation. Quality of clock has nothing to do with experiencing clicks and pops. The differences in clocks are far more subtle than that. Hope this helps.

??? Have plenty of videos on youtube and the net of people pumping out tracks under 20 mins. Some people have the knack for doing music and pumping songs is nothing. a few examples Mick Jagger's pop album written in a week, whole album done in a few months. That blew away U2's bono who spends years sometimes trying to write 1 song. David Guetta, had a rapper chris brown I think begging him to do a song for over a year, ends up he was in France 1 night for a party, David ends up calling him says he has something ready to go and he has 15 mins to get to the studio. So chris manages to make it, then david says here's the words, then 10 mins later the track was cut and good to go. Some people have it and smash it out like it's nothing, others can get by but it takes ages or is too hard to get things done and give up.

The plug-in was unable to load because a console channel's DSP limit is exceeded." Nice But a Big Commitment / Money investment to only be Abel to use UAD/your Plugins With the system Waves Digigrid is Letting Third Party Plugin Companies with there interfaces so you Can Use Plugins From Other Vendors and Still Take advantage of DSP Power
@slamcrank8 жыл бұрын
It's not really the same. Waves is basically playing catch-up to UAD in this area. First of all, there is the matter of UAD's Unison technology, which uses the Console application to actually change impedance levels, etc. of the physical hardware inputs on the Apollo. Waves doesn't have anything like that. As such, Waves has very little chance of the accuracy-of-sound that UA has. Secondly, if you're familiar with analog consoles, UAD's app has a much more intuitive layout. And thirdly, I currently know of zero "third party" companies that are coding for Waves' product. (while there are actually third party developers making fantastic plugins for Apollo such as Softube, Brainworx, etc that can work in real time with the Apollo)... so yeah, it's kind of not even close to comparison.
@Markpianist18 жыл бұрын
Not a big investment at all compared to Avid hd. You get the same sound quality and DSP power for way less. So, I just bought one.
@Markpianist18 жыл бұрын
No. It is cheaper than Avid and sounds just as good. I've heard them both back to back. BTW You don't need to buy their plug-ins, they give you free ones with the purchase. Then you can buy other manufactures. I'm talking about A/D. That is quality. Besides, UAD has major discounts for people who own the equipment that is not apparent on the website. Once you sign in they give you big discounts. They have given me $300 free in Plug-ins by coupons. So I got the La-2a collection and the 1176 collection for free!! So again I wouldn't post unless I had all the facts, I mean you made this post and you obviously don't own a model and I do. So there is no comparison UAD wins if you are serious about making records! Also Rednet is fabulous but no plug-ins come with it.

How about more USB 3.0 units?
@Yohahn8 жыл бұрын
Focusrite did a thing on their website that explained something that USB isn't better for audio then usb 2 or something like that i can't remember exactly what they wrote.. EDIT: Found it. I Quote! "Firstly, although USB 3.0 offers greater bandwidth than USB 2.0, it will deliver no round trip latency benefits over USB 2.0. This is due to the architecture of the host computer driver stack and its handling of USB audio (isochronous) data. The stack schedules data transfers to and from audio drivers at millisecond frame intervals which means that, no matter how fast the data moves over the USB bus, this defines the limit on minimum latency achievable. A good analogy is to think of it as a drainpipe and a tennis ball. The tennis ball is the data and the width of the pipe signifies available bandwidth. With the drainpipe set at the same gradient, letting go of the ball at the top of the drainpipe will see it arrive at the bottom in a given amount of time. That's your latency, the time it takes to go from end to end. USB 3.0 offers a much wider pipe, which in terms of the analogy, means that it could allow a greater number tennis balls (more data) to travel down the pipe, but the balls would not travel down the pipe any faster. This is the same when comparing USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 in terms of the way they transfer audio data. "
