I saw this video when I first got my Apollo Twin, over a year ago. Re-watching it a few months later I can clearly see how helpful it is, but not only that how freaking great this Interface is. I would easily say its top 3 for any home studio or developing producers at any skill level. If you can afford it or find one cheap on the market, I would 100% recommend it!!!! Won't be disappointed!

Thanks UA - as I'm new to UA interfaces and have never had an interface of this calibre before, these videos with Fab Dupont are, by far, the most helpful and instructive on how to set up and use my new Apollo X4 than any other KZbin videos I've seen yet, because not only does it help give a sense of the workflow, it explains the functionalities (eg in Console) in much clearer, direct and understandable terms. Love my new Apollo, and can't wait to dive into it more! Please consider making more deep dive Apollo videos with Fab Dupont!

This is a wonderful instructional video. While the Console software as well as its documentation is complex and deep, this video covers almost everything you need to know to use your UAD Twin or Solo for home recording, unless you have to create multiple monitor mixes or cue sends. There are just a few things I'd add or emphasize: 1. Not all DAWs have "low latency monitoring"; Logic's low latency mode will deactivate some plugins, so don't set that. If you use Logic, you'll also want to disable software monitoring. 2. The UAD Mon / Rec buttons in the monitor strip on the right of the Console window work globally and override whatever setting you choose in the channel strips. 3. Fab covers this in the video, but to emphasize: Effects placed in the channel insert will "print" (record) unless you select "Mon" in either the channel strip or the global monitor strip. Effects placed in the Aux channels *do not print* unless you set up Console and your DAW to record those channels. There are instructions on how to do that in the documentation and on the web, but if you want to incorporate a comfort reverb when tracking, just put it in one of the inserts on an aux channel, point one of your sends to that channel, and blend to taste. You'll hear the reverb when tracking but it won't print to the recorded track in your DAW. 4. The one thing the video leaves out is that there are four views accessible via the buttons located below the "Menu" button in the upper left of the Console display. While the Overview gives essential info about what's going on with the channel, each of the more specific views contains some important info missing from the overview display that you'll need to pay attention to when setting up you input chain. For instance, to record a track with insert effects on, you'll need to click on the "Inserts" view and make sure that "Rec" is selected in the channel strip and "UAD Rec" is on in the monitoring strip. Recording with the Apollo Twin is really as easy as the video suggests.

Great into overview. and a very, very nice "ad-hoc" mix session. I had not listened to Amber Skye before, but was actually tearful listening to her powerful, spiritually-rich vocals. I am an instant fan to be sure, and normally I am much more of a classic rock follower; but there is nothing like true heart as part of a beautifully mixed production. Hope I can hear Amber live someday. I got an Apollo Duo-Twin earlier this year and really enjoy what I can do with it. Now, just another 10 years of using it and I will be half as good as Fab. Thanks Guys!

Depending on the singer, you can totally pull it off. The main vocal was recorded there live. The backing vocals were already there of course. I mean, at the end he added a bunch of stuff.. limiter, eq, etc as well as the reverb. it's live & already mixed technically.. that's the beauty of UAD.

Excellent teaching, excellent video, excellent voice, excellence from UA. I just bought an Apollo Twin and I'm loving what I'm seeing so far. Coming from the Audient ID-14 the ID mixer is so easy to use. Console seems a bit more complicated but that's just because my Apollo Twin hasn't arrived yet. The only question I wish was answered is how do I separate the DAW or music track volume from the mic or artist volume. He shows the preamp knob and the monitor knob but I need full control of the artist headphone mix. I will be sending outputs 3/4 to a headphone amp. I'm thinking I have to set up some complicated routing but I bet it's not too bad. Just need to find a video that explains it.

not all mics need a pop filter
@Zolanis17 жыл бұрын
AFINO not all mic *placements need a pop filter. All large diaphragm condensers, unless they have one built in, need a pop filter if the vocalist is a few inches back and singing directly into the mike. Slightly off-axis placements, or moving the person further back, can negate the need for a pop filter. Just as a PSA, pop filters aren't some magic plosive-stopping thing. Literally all they do is prevent excess, ugly-sounding air from getting to the mic capsule. If that air isn't gonna get there anyway, you don't need a pop filter
