Great job Preston. I was a Mormon for over 20 years. I am now a born again Christian as of six months ago. When I heard him deny the belief that Mormons can become gods, I was shocked. This is literally one of the main tenets of Mormon doctrine (the principle of exaltation). Anyways, I appreciate your approach in how you relay the Gospel. Your Grandmother gave you some wise advice when it comes to showing people that you care. If you ever need further insights into the Mormon religion, feel free to reach out anytime. Stay blessed my brother!

2 mormons came to my door a while back, they talked to me about Jesus and his salvation so I assumed they were in Christ. However they did give me a free book. The book of mormon. They told me it was a way to connect to Jesus, I wasnt really connected to Jesus then so I thought it was good and by all means I took it. I never read it but recently as I am trying to live with Christ, they messaged me and we did some bible studies here and there. They did tell me to read that book and I thought it was okay since I thought it was a way to connect to Jesus and to know Jesus. I ran into this video in the middle of the night and it isnt a coincidence. This is God telling me that the book of mormon is false and I should not enter that path. I have been praying that he guides me and this is him guiding me. I will stick to the bible because that is the TRUE word of God. God got me! God bless everybody 🙏🏼

abraham ochoa he said it lol. What people classify as a “Mormon” is truly a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or members of the LDS Church. I don’t find it a huge deal that people consider members of the church to be called “Mormons”, however the premise of correcting people is so others can understand that Christ is the base of the church.

This has shown me why it’s important for us to understand our faith for ourselves and not just to articulate it in a way to sell it to others. PSA: Preston was interrupting quite a bit here because a lot of times the kid went off on a tangent, trying to create connections that didn't exist. It's an effective debate tactic that's taught along with doctrine, often through example from leaders/elders, rather than outright instruction. Preston was just trying to make sure the conversation didn't go in circles or address questions that weren't asked or relevant to the discussion. Preston, keep it up bro! Praying for the Holy Spirit to empower you further for God's glory. Do you know when the next part will come out, approximately?

I TOTALLY AGREE. Disclaimer: I'm a born agiain believer, and absolutely love how Preston defends the faith. (^_^) My only observation and challenge to him is that his interjections must flow after he allows someone to complete a full literal sentence. Preston asks the young mormon to let him complete his thought, AFTER he (Preston) interjects the young man mid sentence....That is cutting off. Not only does he cut him off, " he says I don't mean to cut you off" and then mentions "I know what you're saying"....we can not know what a person is going to say until they actually say it... To say that he's "directing the conversation" implies that there is a "flow"...the tangent can only be traveled upon only when a thought is allowed the permission to complete itself......it was not consistent on both sides. This "dialogue" leaned heavily into a "monologue". It's NOT that Preston's points are wrong (they are absolutely true), the delivery however was a bit stunted. Allowing them to finish their sentence will not dilute The Truth of The Gospel. Just an observation from a fellow apologist.

I was a Mormon missionary and this is so painful for me to watch because I was like these kids. We had no understanding of the Bible or theology all we had was the ignorant Mormon rhetoric that was in our church approved manuals which were the only material we were allowed to study. We were told that if we were worthy the spirit would guide us but it never did leading us down a path to toxic pefectionism just to be able to feel it. They told us we were teachers but we were not we were just door to door sales men that only knew a sales pitch and nothing else.

Pray for it and read / study the word - slowly. I used to be in a hurry to know everything as quickly as possible. After taking some bible classes it has become apparent that taking my time gives a quality the scriptures and my relationship with Jesus that has never been experience before. Sometimes hours or days will be spent on one verse or even one word. Totally worth the effort because of the growth and confidence gained with such devotional time. Many scripture verses about seeking Him. One of the hardest things for me is to drop distractions like games, Facebook, KZbin. Some weeks / months I do well and other (like now), I have a rough season.

@sledge1960 4 жыл бұрын
@@KSU-ce2uc First of all, I was NOT accusing the brother, yes, it is good to be bold in the field, it is also wisdom, to know your calling. When a Christian steps outside his calling he is leaving himself wide open to the enemy, the Lord will not uphold what He has not ordained. You can see on KZbin, pastors of Christ, ordained as such, who took it upon themselves to enter into the field of Apologetics, debate Non-Believers and get destroyed.doing so. Secondly, Elisha was ordained and anointed as the prophet of God, y God, prepared to fill the mantle of Elijah on his rapture. You are talking about two different things entirely. Elijah himself couldn't transfer his anointing onto Elisha, it was God's gift to give, Elisha got his own anointing. 1 Kings is very clear on that reality. Thirdly, Peter deferred to Paul when it came to teaching 'the things that are hard to understand'. Look what happened to Swaggart when he stepped out of his anointing, Swaggart was anointed to evangelise the unsaved, preach the gospel, to sing and play the piano, a powerful ministry, Swaggart decided he was a scholar and an apologist, debated Ahmed Deedat and got annihilated, he was made a monkey of, then Swaggart fell into immorality. How can any Christian Apologist fail to defeat any muslim in any debate? it cannot happen. That's the danger I speak of. Swaggart wasn't alone in that. I've seen it in my own city. This is a very serious subject.

@@devfaded9351 the Bible frequently uses the term “forever” (Hebrew olam) in a more limited sense, to mean “a long duration,” and not necessarily a literal eternal existence (see Olam, 1999). Consider a few examples: Prior to the Israelites’ departure from Egypt, Moses instituted the Passover. He then added: “And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever” (Exodus 12:24, emp. added). Under the Law of Moses, when a servant pledged allegiance to his master, the master would “take an awl and thrust it through” the servant’s ear to the door (Deuteronomy 15:17). This was a sign that the servant would work for his master “forever” (15:17). (Until he died. Until one of them died.) After the Israelites visited King Rehoboam and petitioned him to lighten their burdens (2 Chronicles 10:3-4), the elders advised the king to be kind to the people and they would be his servants “forever” (10:7). Like so many words throughout Scripture that have more than one meaning, the term “forever” must be understood in light of the context in which it is found. The above-mentioned passages clearly use “forever” in a limited sense, referring to a “long duration” and not literal unendingness. What’s more, considering how many words (e.g., “forever”) have more than one meaning, skeptics cannot justifiably label passages like Ecclesiastes 1:4 and 2 Peter 3:10 contradictory unless they can prove both passages are using the word in the exact same sense. The proper understanding of these passages is that though the Earth has outlasted countless generations (lasting “forever” in limited sense), one day the Earth “will be burned up.” Finally, we frequently use the word “forever” in a limited sense in the 21st century (e.g., “that lecture lasted forever”). apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=6&article=2466

@@jackscalibur _"Jesus being Lucifer's brother when John 1 contradicts that"_ Nothing in John 1 contradicts that. It is so annoying how much this gets brought up because the only time we ever talk about or think about this is when you all bring it up. We believe that because we believe we were with God as his Children and were the angels before the foundation of the world. Jesus being our brother is very biblical. Jesus Christ is the son of God (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5) and Romans 8:16-17 says that we are children of God and joint heirs with Christ. If both us and Jesus are children of God and joint heirs then if you think about this with some logic that would by default makes him our brother. Since Lucifer was once an angel then he would have been like us before and again, by default, it makes them brothers. Saying that literally means nothing about Lucifer being Satan and will lead you to eternal death and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God begotten here on earth, our Lord and our Savior and only in His name and through Him are our sins forgiven and removed so that we can be spotless before God. _"Elohim birthing Jesus Christ when He's always existed (again, John 1),"_ You are ignorantly misrepresenting our beliefs. We don't believe Jesus is a created being. D&C 93:29 “Man was also in the beginning with God. *Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.”* I think it is safe to say Jesus has intelligence so therefore He couldn’t have been created in our theology. Also in Abraham 3:18 “Howbeit that he made the greater star; as, also, if there be two spirits, and one shall be more intelligent than the other, yet these two spirits, *notwithstanding one is more intelligent than the other, have no beginning; they existed before, they shall have no end, they shall exist after, for they are gnolaum, or eternal.”* So there are 2 of our own scriptures that completely contradict the idea of Jesus being a created being and saying that He has always existed, same as us. Whatever form of birth process that happens up there would be similar to how birth changes us from a spiritual being to a physical being with flesh and blood here on earth but instead would be from what the pre spiritual being is to a spiritual being. _"and there being three "heavens."_ It is mentioned in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 15:40-41 "There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory." Because people try and say this, if you are going to say that this is actually talking about different degrees in bodies instead of degrees of heavens... that doesn't refute our belief and in fact would support it. It was something that was believed by the early church fathers also. The very early Church Father, Papias, for example, understood that the Saviour's three degrees of 'fruitfulness' (Matthew 13:8, Matthew 13:23) corresponded to the Pauline three 'heavens' or 'glories' (1 Corinthians 15:41). According to him (as recorded in the first century account of Polycarp), the 'Elders' agreed that “Those who are deemed worthy of an abode in Heaven shall go there, others shall enjoy the delights of Paradise, and others shall possess the splendor of the City. For everywhere the Saviour will be seen, according as they shall be worthy who see him. But that there is this *distinction between the habitation of those who produce an hundredfold, and that of those who produce sixtyfold, and that of those who produce thirtyfold; for the first will be taken up into Heaven; the second class will dwell in Paradise, and the last will inhabit the City; and that on this account the Lord said, “In my house are many mansions”' for all things belong to God, who supplies all with a suitable dwelling place, even as his word says, that a share is given to all by the Father, according as each is or shall be worthy.”* That was also quoted by Irenaeus in his book Against Heresies 5 chapter 36. Origen, in the early third century, revealed that the early Church interpreted this passage in essentially the same way “Our understanding of the passage indeed is, that the Apostle, wishing to describe the great difference among those who rise again in glory, i.e., of the saints, borrowed a comparison from the heavenly bodies, saying, "One is the glory of the sun, another the glory of the moon, another the glory of the stars” (Origen, De Principiis 2, Chapter 10 paragraph 2) Clement of Alexandria also expressed belief in the three degrees, and echoed the Lord's revelation to Joseph Smith that those in the highest degree "are gods, even the sons of God." From Clement of Alexandria, Stromata 6 chapter 14 titled “degrees of heaven”, “Conformably, therefore, there are various abodes, according to the worth of those who have believed . . . . These chosen abodes, which are three, are indicated by the numbers in the Gospel--the thirty, the sixty, the hundred. And the perfect inheritance belongs to those who attain to "a perfect man," according to the image of the Lord . . . . To the likeness of God, then, he that is introduced into adoption and the friendship of God, to the just inheritance of the lords and gods is brought; if he be perfected, according to the Gospel, as the Lord Himself taught.” Clement also preached that the three gradations of glory are procured by virtue of three types of actions: [Clement of Alexandria] reckons three kinds of actions, the first of which is . . . right or perfect action, which is characteristic of the perfect man and Gnostic alone, and raises him to the height of glory. The second is the class of . . . medium, or intermediate actions, which are done by less perfect believers, and procure a lower grade of glory. In the third place he reckons sinful actions, which are done by those who fall away from salvation. In the vision of the kingdoms of glory to Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon (Doctrine and Covenants section 76), the Lord revealed that this passage is not just a comparison of earthly bodies with heavenly, but also a reference to the fact that there are three different major levels of glory to which a body can be resurrected: “And the glory of the celestial is one, even as the glory of the sun is one. And the glory of the terrestrial is one, even as the glory of the moon is one. And the glory of the telestial is one, even as the glory of the stars is one; for as one star differeth from another star in glory, even so differs one from another in glory in the telestial world.” (D&C 76:96-98)

Former LDS here - they are called Elder because they are working underneath the priesthood that they hold aka the Melchizedek Priesthood. Elder is a working title, so when they finish their mission they are not called “Elders” anymore, they’re just brothers. They’re only called Elder again if they have certain leadership roles (like the Apostles)

It's sad to see your heart harden not to see the way how to seek truth. Their "Get out of jail free card" is not a cop out but an invitation for you to find truth. They are sharing with you their testimony of how they found truth, and inviting you to find that same truth as they did(in the book of mormon, Moroni 10:3-7; Bible, James 1:5). Imagine if you seek the Book of Mormon the with the same intent you do for the Bible, I wonder then if your answer will be the same as mine.

@@eterupatane4599 You are correct, it is sad, that when pressed about pretty serious contradictions found in the book of Mormon in comparison to the Bible, that the automated response is to go, "Well I know its true, because i prayed about it". I have witnessed to many Mormons, including family members who are LDS, and i can tell you its an automated response. Its one of many go to lines when the conversation heads off in a particular direction. Its either, "The council of Nicea" when discussing the nature of God and the God Head, or "look how many churches there are", but we are one church, when discussing the "only true church", never mined the fact there are many demonisations found in the LDS. Its absolutely taught to each person, particularly on mission. To your point, I wonder how you'd feel if you were witnessing to a Muslim and once you had pointed out the obvious contradictions, if they then said, "well I know its true because Allah revealed it to me". Does that now make both beliefs systems true, and its an invitation to delve into Islam? The bible deals in hard truths, not feel good stories. Its either true or its not, they cannot both be true. Jesus cannot be the Word, eternal, Creator of everything, as the Bible says and at the same time be lucifers brother, as the LDS claim, no testimony is going to sort that contridiction out.

Dear @@eterupatane4599, Yes, this is rather long. I hope you will give consideration to the time it took to type it. I wouldn't do it if I didn't consider you as important. It is typed with love. A testimony that is contrary to factual evidence is basically a statement based on feelings or "blind faith", and does not have a foundation on truth. Feelings and "blind faith" do not confirm truth and can easily lead to being deceived. I have heard many people of many religions testify that what they believe in is true, yet their beliefs are contrary to one another. Their testimonies sound so good and true. And they are so sincere. Most of them believe their beliefs with all their hearts. But, do you think all of them are true, even though their beliefs and testimonies contradict each other ? Somebody is wrong, but who ? The problem is that they are bearing subjective testimonies. Subjective testimonies are unreliable sources to determine truth. The point is that, Christians should avoid subjective testimonies. They easily lead to being deceived. of all those contrary testimonies, surely you can see that some one is being deceived. Like I said, they can't all be right if they are contrary. You have mentioned James 1:5 - "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." I have followed the prescripts of this verse and have asked for wisdom. I asked trusting in God and He did grant me wisdom. He said it is "unwise" to trust in something (beliefs) that are not true. Truth has a factual, evidential foundation. The wise man will objectively research the claims of Christianity to see if it has a factual foundation, and then place their trust in what is factually true (obviously you would not want to place your trust in something that is not true, right !). But how do you know, for sure, if it is objectively, factually true ? If you don't honestly research to find out if Christianity has a factual foundation, then you are behaving unwisely and are failing to follow Scripture; essentially dishonoring Jesus Christ. If a person doesn't do it this way, then they obviously "lack wisdom" and are making themselves vulnerable to deception by false teachers. We should have the attitude of the Bereans (Acts 17:10-11) and test the words of everyone (even an apostle like Paul) to verify if what they say is true. (I never blindly accept what my pastor or teacher says is true, I fact check them all the time and sometimes reject what they teach). This is the noble minded way of honest Christians. I don't think members of the LDS church live up to what James 1:5 is teaching. They blindly trust the traditions they where brought up in, or the words of what some "bishop" told them to believe. If they don't critically question the problems of the LDS Church and what they are told to believe, then they are people without wisdom, and only prayed the prayer of James 1:5 with their mouth, not their heart, because they are conducting unwise decision making. The way LDS members confirm truth, and make a testimony, is different from the way Christians of the New Testament did it, and encouraged it. I have never heard a LDS testimony that says "I know the teachings of Smith are true because I objectively tested his words and claims, in the noble minded spirit of the Bereans, and the objective evidence has convinced me that Smith's claims are true, therefore I place my trust (faith) in the objective truthfulness of these claims. I probably never will hear an LDS member say that, because an investigation of the truth claims of Smith is discouraged by the Church. The Church encourages subjectivity, and a testimony based on subjectivity. I think there is much the LDS Church would like to prevent its members from looking into, on an objective basis. You said, "if you seek the Book of Mormon the with the same intent you do for the Bible." Dear Eater Patane, you seem to be unaware of the problems of trying to equate the Book of Mormon, with the Bible. You cannot consider the two to be equals. The Bible has an incontestable historical basis that the Book of Mormon does not have. Any objective minded person can see that the BOM has a huge problem with historicity and authenticity. Members of the LDS Church are taught to ignore or overlook this fact, but the problem is very obvious to objective, intellectually honest people. Dear Eater Patane, I challenge you to give me: 1. The name of one city of antiquity mentioned in the BOM that it's historicity and location is unquestioned and universally accepted. You need some external verification and that is lacking in the BOM. I may be able to find a hundred such cities in the Bible, that even an atheist would agree, meets these requirements. However I ask you for just one in the BOM. 2. the name of one geographical feature of the Americas, of antiquity, mentioned in the BOM that its description and location is unquestioned and universally accepted. Note: it probably wouldn't use one of our contemporary English names. I can definitively locate many such places in the Bible. 3. I challenge you to give me the name of a person of antiquity in the Americans, mentioned in the BOM that who's historicity is unquestionably established and universally accepted. Essentially there is no external evidence that can establish the historicity of the BOM. Archaeology has been a tremendous testimony to establish the historicity of the Biblical texts, but archaeology has established virtually no evidence to confirming the historicity of The BOM. The BOM reads like fictional folklore , which is why there are no, non-LDS archaeological organizations endorsing the BOM as a historical text of ancient America. This is very different with the Biblical texts. There are many geographical features, cities & places, people, and events that are mention in the Bible that have well established, external, evidential support. The two texts are very different. One is historical (The Biblical Text) and one appears to have no historical basis (the BOM). If course the LDS Church will not want you to investigate this issue. They will want you to ignore the issue, "have faith" (which is contrary to the kind of faith the Bible describes), trust your testimony (founded on subjectivity without an intellectually honest investigation of the facts, which is exceedingly unwise, demonstrating an attitude contrary to James1:5). They may try to give some evidence of confirmation, but only LDS Members are convinced the evidence is sufficient. Every one else considers it to be spurious and weak. It is different with the Biblical texts. My agnostic Egyptian archaeology professor once told me that he didn't accept the miraculous portions of the Bible, but admitted, "it tells us where to dig". The Biblical text has an established historical basis, that even skeptics admit too. Dear Eater Patane, I take the time to tell you these issues in hope that you would seek wisdom and objectively investigate and research this issue, to demonstrate wisdom and intellectual honesty in evaluating the truth. Remember legitimate testimonies are founded on the objective basis of truth. Subjective testimonies are common to most religions. I don't want a common testimony; I want a testimony based on objective, verifiable truth. That is the only thing I will place my trust in. My testimony will then be based on my trust in what is verifiable, objective facts of the Gospel and the Christian worldview. Then come my proclamation of my trust in those facts (my testimony), which is a much stronger testimony than the testimony of the LDS members. The LDS Members say "the Holy Spirit told me it it true". Christians say "the Holy Spirit showed me with "many convincing proofs" (1:3) that the claims of Jesus is objectively and verifiably true in the context of real, verifiable, history, and because of this factual basis, I can have objective confidence of what I place my trust (faith) in. Then the Holy Spirit gives me the inward confirmation that my trust is true, both objectively and subjectively. Double confirmation ! Much stronger that the mere inward, subjective (and dangerously naive and gullible) "faith" that the LDS members have. I don't have to avoid the objective evidence, like LDS members do. The Christian type of faith has a much stronger foundation than the LDS faith. I enjoy resting in the confidence of the strong foundation of the Christian faith. I hope you will honestly consider the Christian perspective of objective based faith. I know because of the objective evidence, place my trust in those facts, and my heart is at rest in that strong assurance of both objective and subjective verification of truth. If you have any comments or questions, don't hesitate to contact me. DZ

A.h.t you are correct in the both David in psalms and the Jesus affirming the fact that God says, “are ye not gods?” The context of this verse has a huge impact on what the verse means. David is talking to the Judges in the original statement. These were people sent with gifts or powers to allow Israel to take back power in their land. When David tells this to them he is referring to the creation of Adam where as we were created in Gods own image. This means that as God is the creator and keeper of the universe and all that ever has and will be, we are the gods (lowercase) of this world. We were intended to rule over this world and tend to it just as God rules over and tends to us

The bible tells us that some things are beyond our human understanding and I believe when we try to logic out spiritual things we end us in confusion. The use of the word trinity isn't biblical, however I do believe that there is one God existing in 3 person. I really enjoy the discussion.

Throughout the bible we see so many miracles and scripture speak about so many wonders and we are unable to comprehend most of them but because of faith we believe, not logic. To be fair, the use of the word biblical and Bible aren't biblical 😂. The Bible is a term that means books, and testifies to the nature of the Scriptures being multiple books. The issue isn't logic, because the Trinity is very logical, it's just the level of comprehension is beyond human ability.

@@avanawallen7050 oh for sure, I agree that it isn't simple, it's VERY complex. Sorry if I gave off that impression. People can't understand that the Trinity is the same GOD. Son, Father, Holy Ghost. The thing is, God did that for a reason. There is no specific explanation. It is what it is. So explaining that to other religions really frys their brain because they try to bring logic into it. But we can all agree that God can do anything and that anything meant the Trinity.

What made me understand the Trinity was the H2O example. H2O as an element can exist in 3 forms Liquid (water), solid (ice), and vapor (steam, mist) all 3 different forms with different roles and purposes but all are of the same element called H2O. When that was explained to me in reference to understand the Trinity I instantly understood. Because God has shown Himself in creation and I believe creation can be used to help us understand His essence. When He created water, he created it to testify of Himself. That's why Jesus was called Living Water. The most important element in creation is water (H2O) and it can be in 3 different forms, like God.

@WorshipPray Repeat you are very welcome this example helped me so much and confirmed what Romans 1:20 says "For every since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God has made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature. So that they have no excuse for not knowing God." Amen!

That’s actually modalism that Preston mentioned - God existing in different forms at different times. The doctrine of the trinity is three persons, distinct yet inseparable. In the water example they’re not inseparable. Unfortunately all analogies for the trinity fail and we have to deal with it as it stands not through metaphor
@naturallymemarie9650
@naturallymemarie9650 5 жыл бұрын
@@Pe0ads no, if you watch it he describes what modalism is. He's speaking against modalism. My example was not modalism either. H20 is still H20 no matter what form it takes just like God is still God whether its the Father the Son or The Holy Spirit, so it is inseparable.

NaturallyMeMarie A glass of water can not be liquid, solid, or vapour at the same time. By definition it assumes different forms. That’s not what God is like. God is eternally the Father, the Son, and the Spirit simultaneously, three persons distinct yet inseparable. God does not take different forms. Modalism is the teaching that God takes different forms at different times, just like the water example
@naturallymemarie9650

@@Pe0ads I think you're missunderstanding what im saying. I see your point but my perpective its its all H2O regardless of the form it takes. Of course God cant stop being the father to become the son then to become Holy Spirit. But the closest example to explain something taking 3 distinct forms but the essence of it being the same is H20. Though the example may fall short since all that God is can never fully be explained with finite understanding. For me I wrestled with trying to understand how God can exist in 3 persons but still be one God. The water example helped me to understand that concept.

I'm an atheist now but I was born into the Mormon church and was Mormon for 16 years. I feel terrible for Mormon missionaries. They're all 18 to 20 years old out on their own for the first time, quite possibility in an unfamiliar place who may not even speak their first language, not allowed any alone time the entire two years they're out. The depression percentages in Mormon missionaries are insanely high. These missionaries you're talking to in this video are only 18-21 years old. They're only kids.

@@jcthomas3408 God, Yahweh, or Allah has a time. For it says in Psalms 90:4 "Each day to the Lord us like 1000 years." The Aramic (Hebrew) word for 1000 in this quote is eleph (אֶלֶף). You will find this statement again in the New Testament in 2 Peter 3:8, which uses the Idumean (Greek) word Chilioi (khil'ee-oy, χίλιοι) for 1000 & the word Kurios for Lord or master. Also the Quraan 32:5, which uses the Ashuric/Syriac (Arabic) word Alf (ألف) for 1000. So God does have a time, 1000 years is one day to God. So GOD has a life span as the beginning & end.
