@@jamesm6887 The Tawheed first Pillar of Islam (the one ness of God.) If you want I can show how Universe was created / started. Maybe if you copy and paste you might get a PHD in whatever. This is Tawheed (by one of the Infalliable Imams) I heard al-Ridha, Ali b. Musa, peace be upon him, speak thus on the subject of Oneness of Allah: "The first step toward worship of Allah is to know Him, and the root of that knowledge is in recognizing His Oneness; And the principle of that recognition lies in negating all definitions from Him; Every reason guides to the fact that anything defined is created (and not the creator), And every created one testifies that it has a creator, who is not created. The one, who is not contingent, is the One, timeless in eternity. So he who ascribes attributes to Him has not (truly) worshipped Him, And he who knows Him by similitude has not understood His oneness; And one who compares Him (to anything) has not understood the true essence, nor has he confirmed Him if he sets any limit for Him; And he who points towards Him with any of his senses is, in fact, aiming at something other than Him; So, he who likens Him (to others) does not actually mean Him, and he who considers Him a part of the whole, does not actually know Him, and he who imagines Him is indeed deluded. Everything, which can be encompassed by knowledge and imagination, is created, and everything that is dependent upon others for its existence is an effect. By His creation, we are guided to His existence, and by reason we believe in (the necessity of) knowing Him, and by the innate nature (of human beings) His Proof is established. His creation is a veil between Him and His creatures, and He is distinct from them by His disparateness. His beginning of their creation is the proof that He has no beginning, for the one who is begun (in time) cannot be a (timeless) beginner; So, all the names used for Him are mere interpretations, and acts attributed to Him are meant for common understanding. Indeed, he who defines or sets a limit to Him, displays ignorance about Him, and he who tries to encompass Him transgresses the bounds. And he who makes a surmise of His Being, misses Him (altogether). Whoever says 'How is He?' has indeed invoked His likeness, and whoever asks 'Why?' has indeed indulged in explaining Him away. And he who says 'When?' sets a time limit for Him, and he who asks 'In what?' tries to contain Him. And whoever asks 'Where to?' confines Him, and whoever asks 'Till when?' indeed fixes (an imagined) goal for Him. Thus whoever fixes a goal for Him, limits Him, and to set a limit for Him is to disbelieve in Him. The discrepancy among the creatures does not effect any variation in Him, and the limitation of the limited ones creates no confine for Him. He is One but not as number, and He is Manifest but not by was of associating; He is Evident but not by way of being visible. He is intrinsic but not by separation, and He is apart but not by distance. And He is near but not by proximity. He is (truly) subtle, but not in body, He Exists but not from nothingness. He is the doer but not under any duress, and He is the assessor but not yielded to pondering; He is designer without needing any movement. He Wills without being driven by resolves or determination, He perceives without depending on any senses. He hears and sees without any organ. Time does not accompany Him, places do not contain Him, slumber does not overtake Him, attributes do not define Him, and implements do not benefit Him. His Existence precedes time, His Being precedes void and nothingness. His Eternity precedes all beginning. By His creating similar things, it is established that He has no likeness, and by His creating dissimilarities among things, it is evident that He has no contrast. And by equation among things, it is understood that He has no equal. He contrasted light with darkness, severe winter with hot wind. He puts together things which are divergent, and separates things which are closer to each other. Thus by separating, He guides us to its Separator and by putting things together, He guides to its Integrator. Allah, Most High, says (in Qur'an): 'We have created a pair, that perchance you might remember.'(51:49) The meaning of Sustainer applied to Him when there was no one sustained, and the essence of (all) Divine Power belonged to Him when there was no worshipper, and He was the Knower when there was nothing knowable. He did not merit the meaning of being Creator after having created, nor did He become the Originator after having originated. He is not caused to be absent by 'since,' nor is He brought nearer by 'indeed.' And 'perchance' does not veil Him, nor is He limited in time by 'when.' He is not contained by 'then,' nor is He accompanied by 'with.' Every effect that is seen in the creation does not exist in its Creator, and all that is contingent in it is not possible in its Maker. Movement and Stillness do not occur in Him. And how can they occur in Him Who caused them? How could that which He initiated return to be applied to Him? In that case, there would have risen discrepancy in His Being, and the meaning of Eternal would be inapplicable to Him, and the word Creator would have had its opposite meaning. If He were bound by rear, He would have been bound by fore also, and if completeness were solicited for Him, then incompleteness would have been necessarily conceivable for Him. How could He be worthy of being called Eternal if He were contingent? How can He initiate things if He Himself needed to be initiated? In that case, the signs of being created would be evident in Him, and He would have changed from being the Indicator into the one indicated. Any statement contradicting this truth has no proof, nor do the questions arising therefrom have any answers. There is no god but Allah, Most High and Most Mighty. (And may Allah bless His Prophet, Muhammad and his pure Progeny.)"

Agreed. You can tell Dr Clark is a bit confused if he thinks getting into another man's face is a safe practice.
@somexp124 жыл бұрын
That isn’t “patience”. That is false confidence and assertive posturing. I think he is helped by the fact that he doesn’t think deeply about the things he says. Ignorance allows him to feel confident. “How do you explain logic” is a pot-smoker’s epiphany. He ought to have run that by an actual philosopher before he said that in public, but I guess it works for him just to have his befuddled opponents stuck at “that can’t be right”. Bonus if you can frustrate them into a rage.

@somexp124 жыл бұрын
Adam Kakos I told you exactly how it was relevant. That *wasn’t patience*. Jeff Durbin has a strategy of being dense, rude, entitled and calm about aggravating people. It is easy to remain calm when the chaos was engineered by you. Clark was unfortunately just more vulnerable to it than others. If Clark did those stunts to me out of nowhere it would take some doing to avoid reacting. If, however, I had just spent two hours faking a wisdom I don’t possess, I would count the provocation as “mission accomplished”. Even when I was s Christian, Durbin and White would have caused me to bristle. I didn’t respect those types even then.

read my comment and reply to my comment on the conversation.. that was an awfully disrespectful way to start the conversation by saying that even arguing rationally was taking out of the theistic playbook. Hey I've argued with atheists and christians alike. I've even see Dr. White get just as combative against oneness (modalist) debaters, though perhaps not as expressive (which some people are more expressive than others). Understand why he got upset. Then maybe understand that if from the get go you were under attack that you would remain emotionless. Hey I get it, the atheist will go just as hard at the Christian. D'sousa (if I remember right) and Dennis Prager arguing against Hitchens was similar outcome, though Hitchens came across as arrogant, at least D'sousa and Prager remained much more philosophically focused, while it was Hitchens that used presuppositional arguments and even changed the requirements of the answer of a question after he watched Prager answer it with ease. (there was a reward involved). It is interesting that at least some atheists (Atkins comes to mind) have a vitriolic hatred for even the implication that a supernatural power is involved. However, that doesn't mean that the best way to start a debate is to presuppose the other sides arguments, and then delegitimize the conversation, and then pretend shock when people are not happy. That's just manipulation at that point. It's like telling your kids you're going swimming to get their cooperation in leaving the house, and then go to your fishing hole instead. If you want a meltdown, lie to your kids. You can feign their immaturity if you want, but really it just means you're an asshole. They are just responding to the natural frustration of having been told a lie... Or in the case of Clark, that he was told what his position was and it was deemed unworthy of considering, before he even said it.

As you can confirm, only by God can a person's heart be changed. Testimony I was born in a Christian family and thought I was a Christian because I went to church on Sundays but the way I lived showed otherwise. I was leading my self to death and also eternal death, I was partying 4 to 5 times a week. I would go to the clubs almost every night till like 3 or 4 in the morning and then I had to get up at 530 for work, I was so used to this cycle that it was easy to run off 1 hour of sleep. I was drinking crazy amounts of alcohol and would drive home so drunk all the time and I don’t even remember how I got home most of the time. My buddy even said I would serve all over the road. There was no words from anyone that was gonna stop the way I was living until god put a stop to it all and completely changing my life and also my eternal life. On May 10 2017 I was out with friends, we were in two separate cars and the one car sped in front of us without knowing a sharp Conner was coming up. They then skimmed the side of a hydro pole and went air born perfectly going threw two trees. Then the pole came down and landed right on my head when I was in the passenger seat, it crushed my head right open and turned my brain 90 degrees. I was pronounced dead, even in the police report it said i died. I stoped breathing so they punctured my lungs with a tube so I good breath and put 4 bags of blood in me. I was in a coma for 2 weeks and the doctors told my family I most likely won’t survive and if I do I will be a vegetable for the rest of my life and after two months I walked out of the hospital looking like nothing really happened to me. I had thousands of people all over the world praying for me and god saved my life and I became a strong Christian after this, That’s why that day became the best day of my life. Also after that miracle from god there was more. My right eye got pushed down to my mouth so they did another surgery to move my eye up and thought o would never be able to see again out of that eye but I still had vision but extremely bad vision and the eye doctor told me I have a lot of damage behind my eyeball that can never go away so my vision in that eye will never improve, so I got glasses but after awhile the glasses were making it worse so I stoped using them. Over time my vision seemed great but I thought it was from me just using my good eye to see. Seven months after the first eye appointment I had another one and they did all the testing again. At the end the eye doctor comes in with so much shock on his face and he was extremely confused. He said Kyle, I don’t know what happened or how this is even possible but some how all the damage behind your eye is completely gone to where you no longer even need glasses. I went from a lost boy leading myself to hell to a guy with a strong relationship with the lord are father in heaven, to where I can no longer drink and love spreading gods amazing grace and love! Praise god!!!! 🙏❤️

Kyle thank you so much for sharing. My story is not at all extreme but still life changing but hearing stories like this make me take another step closer to God even when I thought I couldn't get any closer. I to was raised in a religious household and always wanted to believe that God exist but I could never fathom his existence. I prayed to be a follower of Christ even tho I didn't believe it but wanted it to be true. The fear of God (the fear of the absence of God...hell) was what pushed me to want to open my heart. The Bible says those who seek the Lord will be presented His truth. The world around me seemed so dark and meaningless with God not taking a priority in the over all view of the world. It started to make me take my views and what I believe is right and stack it against society and the more I looked at my views the more they were similar to the teaching of Christ. Then I decided that I should actually read the Bible from start to finish and not just read but understand it. If there was a verse I did not understand then I would research it and try to understand its meaning. Before I finished reading the Bible (which I am still working on) I was close to finally believing. Not to jump around in time but years ago when I was around 10-15 I remember my sister reading a book called case for Christ it is always stuck with me. Years later I see that they made a movie about it and it's on Netflix. That movie took it from a scientific point to understand Christ and how he the Bible is true. By the end of the movie I was on my knees sobbing thanking God for giving me the gift of knowing his love and how sobbing for Jesus for his sacrifice. It's crazy how it changes you from your heart first to the rest of you. I always say God is the mind (all knowing) Jesus is the heart (Died for the love for us) and the holy spirit is our hand (which empowers us to do God's work) I still read the Bible and am still working through it but I love KZbin for being such a great source and finding videos that show the Truth of God. I have my Bible hand and hand when watching the videos to compare what they are saying with my Bible. Just wanted to share and thank you for doing the same.

That doesn’t make any sense. You just said that a Christian stating their belief is an insult to you and your belief. It may offend you somehow, but stating an opinion or a belief is in no way an insult, nor should it be taken that way. There is no rule or law that says you cannot disagree with an opinion or belief. God demonstrates that everyday by giving humanity free will. You don’t have to except God. Matter fact, you can deny Him. That’s a choice that you have, one that God gives you. He does however tell you that your actions and your choice have consequences. God loves you so much, that He not only came to the earth as a human being and died for you, but He loves you so much that He gives you a choice to accept Him or deny Him. After all, how could you truly love Him and accept Him if He forced you to. God is giving you a chance to make that choice ever single day you wake up. Please don’t wait until it’s too late. Open your heart. Time will run out eventually. I hope you don’t find this insulting and I hope this does not offend you. I love you and I care about you. I don’t want you to make the wrong choice and pay for it when I and others can inform you and help you.

@nick jones well according to the Bible we all have a soul. You can not loose your soul, but that all of us are lost as in far from God. The Bible teaches that sin causes a division in relationship and because of our sin we are separated from a loving relationship with God. Since we have all sinned we are all in the same position, but because God loves us He sent Jesus to pay our ransom and our debt so that we could be brought near to Him. To restore our relationship with Him. This is God's grace and we accept this gift through faith (trusting in the work that Jesus came to do)..... now I know nothing in here that proves there is a God or that we have a soul I am simply stating what the Bible teaches about the matter. So I think the place we all need to start is asking "can the Bible be trusted?"

Clark was simply looking for 'gotcha' moments, looking for a single 'error' to use to prove the Christian belief system as false. His performance here shows he knows nothing of God nor His creation of human free will (evidenced by the Pharoah comments). He apparently thinks, as many atheists seem to, that God should 'fix' everything and make everything OK for us on earth (evidenced for why God doesn't miracle new limbs for us). Clark thinks miracles occur by our demand (evidenced by his suggestion that we test God by drinking poison). He also ignores that God could have a hand in science and medicine and believes it exists solely because Man created it. As the old punchline goes, 'No, no. Get your own dirt.'

It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones. Now would you kindly explain how it is foolish to employ such sketicism? I have never heard a response to this question. Please be the first one that actually reads the question carefully and answers the actual question.

Witnessing an event for which you have no explanation does not indicate anything other than that you don't understand what happened. You didn't have an explanation for your daughter's recovery, therefore god. Ridiculous. This is the fallacy known as "the argument from ignorance." In ancient times people did not know what caused thunder and lightning. So they ascribed those phenomena to the anger of their deities. Later someone figured out how these events work and what causes them. No need for a god there. There are countless examples of ignorance followed by careful research followed by explanations of erstwhile mysterious phenomena. This is what we call science. It is a very simple extrapolation from the dawning of understanding of anything to the assumption that, given enough time and hard work, scientists and other serious researchers will explain further mysteries. Scientists and atheists have no vested interest in proving that god doesn't exist. No honest scientist or atheist worthy of the title has ever claimed that god does not exist or did not cause anything or anybody to exist. On the other hand, at no time has a scientist ever concluded that a god ever did anything or indeed ever existed. Why? Because so far, no evidence has been presented for such a phenomenon. Scientists and atheists simply don't know whether a god or gods exist. And, by the way, neither do you or I. The reason: lack of evidence. An honest scientist and an honest atheist will simply say that he or she remains unconvinced of anything: god, gravity, string theory, the "god particle" you name it, until presented with credible evidence. This is not a complicated principle. The faith-based claims, the appeals to biblical sources, tales of miraculous healings are simply assertions, claims, interpretations of scripture, wishful thinking. They are not evidence of anything beyond the ignorance and simple-mindedness of the claimant. As has been said by greater minds than mine: Faith is an unreliable path to truth. The two atheists in this debate are disarmingly modest with their claims to knowledge and admissions when they do not know. True, one of them was an irritating wild card (not that this invalidates his position-it simply makes for an unproductive rant). The two apologists in this debate are clearly educated, articulate, dignified and forceful speakers. It became clear that such intellectual window-dressing, while civilised and cordial, tried (and failed) to pass as wisdom or even useful knowledge. The deafeningly loud clatter of presuppositional apologetics that was the foundation of their arguments disqualified them both from being taken seriously. And that is something neither of them seemed to understand. It simply undermined every statement either of them made, notwithstanding the arrogant teflon which coated everything they said.

The theists are disrespectful because they start asking questions when they have no answers. Also, the definition of ignorant means 'lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated' he has more knowledge and education on actual science, meaning things that actually happen around us not what someone just says.
@Chaxar5 жыл бұрын
@Techno Algebra and you are implying that absolute truth even exists. The only truth that can be considered correct is something that is provable. The theists state that morality and logic exist because god exists is an implication, ie: a presupposition fallacy, because they haven't even proven a possibility of god. (You cant logically say: "Logic and numbers exist in the universe. My God created the universe. Therefore God exists." Why, you ask? Because this presupposes that the universe was created The theists are incorrect to state that because numbers and logic would exist if humans didn't, that this is an argument for an incorporeal god. As a mater of fact, this is actually a logical proof that god only exists as a human construct because humans thought him up, just like numbers and logic. Numbers and logic, as we know them, would not exist with out humans. But the ability for an intelligent species to think of a concept like numbers, or and logic, or a god is an emergent property of intelligence. The sad truth is that arguing about god's existence, i think imho, equates to arguing about the existence of numbers. Both created by humanity to explain the world around us. Only that one can be objectively shown to have merit in the world that we live in, ie: we can count and number things that exist. The other cannot be shown to have objective merit, since there is no proof of god, miracles can be and have been logically/naturally explained, plus the Bible is full of inaccuracies as far as the observable world is concerned. Not to mention that there are many more older and more popular religions than Christianity that also have no proof of god's existence. In other words: Non-corporal concepts exist as an emergent property of intelligence, and not as proof of a non-corporal god.

@Chaxar4 жыл бұрын
@@gtabraham3454 Good question. IMHO 1. Accepting the humbling reality that we don't really have proof of what happened before the big bang or what happens after death, and we may never know. 2. Accepting that we humans are responsible for our own actions. That there is no supernatural source demanding us do good or tricking us into evil. Instead, we humans are the source of good and evil. That we must study morality and remember we are the cause of it. To create community without the need for child indoctrination. To build on family and not live in fear of excommunication because of contradictory claims. 3. Re-defining the 'soul' as the brain emergent consciousness of an individual as a non-corporal concept. A description of the self that encompasses emotion and morality, not some eternal magical life force. 4. Re-defining 'god' as an emergent non-corporal concept of intelligence that is a framework of what individuals, and humanity as a whole, should strive to achieve. To view the statment 'god is love' as a universal standard to be achieved by humanity, not as an outside entity demanding eternal slaves or granting eternal damnation.

Christopher Hitchens writes in God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything (pp. 172-173): "Then there is the very salient question of what the commandments do not say. Is it too modern to notice that there is nothing about the protection of children from cruelty, nothing about rape, nothing about slavery, and nothing about genocide? Or is it too exactingly 'in context' to notice that some of these very offenses are about to be positively recommended? In verse 2 of the immediately following chapter, god tells Moses to instruct his followers about the conditions under which they may buy or sell slaves (or bore their ears through with an awl) and the rules governing the sale of their daughters. This is succeeded by the insanely detailed regulations governing oxes that gore and are gored, and including the notorious verses forfeiting 'life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.' Micromanagement of agricultural disputes breaks off for a moment, with the abrupt verse (22:18) 'Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.' This was, for centuries, the warrant for the Christian torture and burning of women who did not conform." Richard Dawkins writes in The God Delusion (pp. 23-24): "Imagine, with John Lennon, a world with no religion. Imagine no suicide bombers, no 9/11, no 7/7, no Crusades, no witch-hunts, no Gunpowder Plot, no Indian partition, no Israeli/Palestinian wars, no Serb/Croat/Muslim massacres, no persecution of Jews as 'Christ-killers', no Northern Ireland 'troubles', no 'honour killings', no shiny-suited bouffant-haired televangelists fleecing gullible people of their money ('God wants you to give till it hurts'). Imagine no Taliban to blow up ancient statues, no public beheadings of blasphemers, no flogging of female skin for the crime of showing an inch of it."
