Been so close so many times. Surprised teams have kept inviting the Mountaineers. Almost took it off UNC last week. And were :47 from taking down Penn State in 2018. Went to App State in the early 90s. We beat Wake Forest over homecoming weekend in '92 (they were ranked about 147th) and the school partied for about 5 days. The next September, NC State beat us 56-3. App's head coach at the time said, "The turning point in the game was when the Wolfpack came out onto the field." Little did we know what this team would become. Don't know that anything will top the combination three-peat championship in our division and, ultimately, The Win against Michigan in The Big House.
