College Football Losing Team Announcers Calling Game Winning Plays

A compilation of College Football Team announcers calling game winning plays against their own team. These announcers are rooting for the team they are announcing for and are thrilled to see them make a good play, but in these instances, their team was on the losing end of a game winning play. After these plays, the losing team's announcers were heartbroken to say the least. It can be challenging to find the radio calls of these games, so I was limited in what plays I could include. If you have any ideas for future College Football compilation videos let me know in the comments. Enjoy!

I felt a lot for the McNesse State announcers. I never watched the game to know if they played better, but it was heartbreaking nonetheless. They kept it close against a Nebraska squad that was still somewhat decent, being ranked and all. The fcs teams are paid, but everyone expect them to be hammered. A win or close game is rare if you're not like NDSU was for many years or like Appalachian State was when they defeated Michigan

Thats when I looked at him and reminded him as the ball was snapped, its not over till its over. As the play unfolded, he looked at me like I spoke it into existence. He walked out the door and went home without saying a word. He got me back though, during the Packers/Seahawks NFC championship game. I thought we had it in the bag, and he reminded me how sports work, and the rest is history. Although heartbreaking at the time, those games are some of my best memories with him.

He doesn't demean the other team and he doesn't hold Alabama up on some mythical, unrealistic pedestal that would cause opposing fans turn off the radio. @tannertuner
@tannertuner 2 жыл бұрын
@@bstove24 yeah, Georgia is usually a good team. The one against Auburn was the week before Auburn ran back the field goal attempt against Alabama. Auburn had back to back miracle wins like that that season. The call against Alabama was in the 2018 National Championship Game (2017 season). They could have just as well played the end of the 2012 SEC Championship between Georgia and Alabama and the 2018 one as well. All three of those games came down to the very end. The Tennessee bomb was right after UGA had scored to go ahead with 6 seconds left. UGA squibbed the kickoff or onside kicked for some reason and something went wrong. One play from scrimmage. I think that was Kirby’s first season? I think we lost 4 that year.
@tannertuner
@tannertuner 2 жыл бұрын
@@bstove24 “better than being a Vanderbilt fan.” Yeah, but fans don’t see it that way. On January 1, 1981, Georgia got extremely lucky and recovered two mishandled kicks inside Notre Dame’s 5 yard line which set up two easy Walker touchdowns and wound up with more points on the scoreboard than the team that beat the ever living dog doodoo out of us that night. So Georgia fans now think we are supposed to be elite and play in the national championship game every season.

My favorite set of team announcers are the Penn State announcers, they always sound excited for both teams and call they game professionally and try their best to sound objective. Another one I've always been a fan of Cal's announcer Joe Starkey, first time I listened to a recording of him calling The Play, at first I forgot he was a Cal announcer as he talked up both teams and got excited for Stanford's seemingly huge comeback. Then he I guess you could say "broke character" and let his excitement shine through when Cal won with The Play. Someone else I always admired for an opposite reason was Michigan's longtime announcer Bob Ufer, he was so hilariously biased that it was enjoyable and charming, even though I'm not a Michigan fan.
