Hello Everyone, Thanks for tuning into Appalachian Anarchy! We appreciate all the feedback and love, but I want to address a few comments labeling our music as AI-generated. I'm the songwriter behind our tunes, very much human, and here to share our story. Appalachian Anarchy began as a recording project. When "Banjo Bloodbath" took off unexpectedly, we sped up releasing our music, which has been both thrilling and chaotic. Our goal shifted from a slow release to sharing our entire album, crafted over nine months, as quickly as possible due to your overwhelming support. Not all of us are keen on being internet personalities; our focus is the music. In the digital age, where fame is often sought after, it’s hard to believe, but some of us prefer staying out of the spotlight. For full transparency, I use a MIDI guitar for complex sections and other instruments whenever possible. As a classically trained guitarist who plays multiple instruments, I strive to capture the sounds in our heads, sometimes at odd hours next to a sleeping baby’s room, using both traditional and digital means. This mix allows us to create without the resources of a professional studio. We dream of doing this full-time someday, but for now, we balance our music with jobs and families. No offense or anything, but I get why people might be suspicious of the internet reality; some days ago I found out that a channel I was following was 100% AI songs (there were clues though, there wasn't any artist, just the label name, the songs started & ended abruptly and the every video was autogenerated by youtube...) it's the augmented reality era that makes people suspicious of almost everything

it feels like youve put a lot of care and effort into the music, people are just sceptic in this era of AI constantly at the front of peoples minds when it comes to real creativity. dont let it get to you! keep doing you and making some art, MiDi use or not, theres even charm there to fill in gaps of the parts that are too complex. looking forward to hearing more :)

Awesome band and mix, I always thought growing up in KY and listen to my dad's(A mandolin player) love of Bill Monroe, but my preference for Metal and punk rock...........this is a great blend of genres. Singers are the hardest and most defining part of any band. You guys are doing well here though without a singer. Get more of the the solos and instrumentals for each band member. Then the singer will either find you or you will find a great path without one. Keep picking.

Is this someone actually playing fiddle, banjo, etc.? Or is it all synth? It doesn't sound quite "natural". I was hoping someone had beat me to my idea of putting pickups on the scoop neck of a mountain banjo and running it through distortion pedals.

Hey! Great question! We've been doin' a lot of different techniques for different songs/sounds. For now, since we're a recreational recording project (for now!) - our guitarist is doing the banjo, mandolin, and fiddle parts as overdubs (luckily, he's a badass on any instrument he picks up). We usually start on the real instrument - then whenever we're wanting something that's outside of his skill level on an instrument, he picks up his MIDI guitar. Its a Jamstik MIDI guitar with a separate MIDI encoder for each string - so it does a remarkable job of capturing the performance (even the bends) into MIDI. From there we use different patches on VIs to get the sound we're looking for. But you're not off at all on the pickup'd banjo idea... Its an acoustic/electric banjo. We mic it up when we want a more natural sound - but sometimes we use the pickup system and run it through some guitar pedals to get it nice and dirty.

Thanks! I'll tell ya, this has been a polarized topic, hahahaha. Full disclosure: we believe in keeping options open, so we are currently looking for a singer. BUT, we won't just go with anyone - we need to find someone who fits perfectly AND is a team player who doesn't just wanna steal the show. We've had a few run-ins lately with singers who just don't get what we're doin' here, but I don't wanna bash anybody. Frustrating though. And no matter what happens, we'll keep making rockin' instrumentals too! That's a promise!

Hey Alex! We've got a guy who does it - but he told us that he does use AI in the process. The way he explained it is he uses the AI to create backgrounds, and assets - then he adds hand-drawn elements like characters, etc in Illustrator - then compiles everything in photoshop. So the term, I'm told, is: "AI-assisted human art"

THANKS! And I totally agree! The main reason we don't have a singer yet is we've had really bad experiences with personalities of singers we've had in the past. I don't want to bash anybody - but it seems like there's a narcissistic gene that coincides with whatever trait allows somebody to sing in front of people uninhibited. I know its not 100%, but we've had terrible luck finding a good person who wants to play WITH us, not above us. We've found some awesome singers, but they didn't want a band of teammates, they wanted to call the shots. But even if/when we find someone who works well with us - don't worry, we'll always make instrumentals too! We love doing this, and we won't add vocals JUST to add them... we'll use it as another instrument. And we believe that having a singer in the group will open some doors for new ideas to flow. I think the idea of vocals as another instrument is a great idea. But you don't need it. Keep pounding out the great instrumentals. I prefer it. Also just wondering how many people are in the band?
