I don’t understand the thumbs down... this is good quality stuff. There isn’t a ton of “look at me, look at what I’m doing” on these videos. They are practical, they tell a story and I love that you talk out your decisions, letting us see the process!

Appreciate your next level intellect you bring to your vids. Quick history lesson. The over mountain men came from Eastern Tenn and Western NC to fight the British and Loyalist at King's Mtn NC, about :20 from my home, to fight the battle of King's Mtn which was considered the turning point of the revolutionary war. They were basically backwoodsmen in the Davy Crockett esque fashion who used guerrilla tactics and basically grit and determination to fight a much larger force and basically wipe them out. King's Mtn is about 4-5 hours car ride from that area and they walked the whole way with what supplies they needed on their backs and what they could scrounge in the woods to fight a much larger, better supplied British force. True hikers and warriors.

I know why I like your videos. You're a thinker. I suspect conversation with you over beers stays at a higher level than it would with others. Your videos are also more professional than others and you have a nice mix, not too much 'watch the trail' or endless descriptions. Switching up the style is nice. And finally you touch on a little of everything, gear, health, views, history, deep thoughts. 🤘

Hope you're having a good day when you read this! My 6 year old Kameron is always excited to see a new video from you on the AT. He actually brought it up on our backpacking trip this past week. We hiked 4 miles... while sitting around the fire, he asked "how much longer would we have to hike if we were on the Appalachian trail?"... we are rooting for you!

Thanks for taking us along, love the variety of trail shots and commentary. Appreciate the "real" presentation. Your time is now, as it is for all of us, we seem to forget that fact with all the monkey mind gymnastic thoughts bouncing around in our skulls, lamenting a past that is gone and fretting over a future that is not now. Feel the cold on your nose and the tingle in your fingers !!

Your mind is so strong that you will get to summit Mt. Katahdin! 👍🏻 I believe! 🧚‍♀️🥾 The ornamental tree you chanced upon is dedicated to a young man who sadly committed suicide. His name was Max Norrell who was an AT 2000 mile thru-hiker. That spot is said to have been his favorite place on the AT. Happy trails! 🌺

Hi Frozen/Jason, I discovered your videos just the other day. Last week I went on my first day hike in Mammoth Lakes and my sedentary lifestyle combined with the altitude made for a very difficult hike for me. I searched youtube for hiking tips and came across your backpacking series. I am now viewing your AT trip. You may not realize how inspirational and exciting your videos are. I probably will never be able to do all that you have accomplished. But because of you I am not going to give up and will try again and again. How lucky are we to know that this country has some beautiful outdoor places for all to enjoy but very few really get out there!!!!

But I know that through the love of God.....I can overcome those evil lies and carry-on! Keep strong and enjoy this journey! Continuous prayers heading w/you and going out before you! Such amazing videos your getting of some breathtaking views of God's Creation and his huge backyard! Don't let this hatred or these rude comments bring you down! Keep your eyes to the Heavens! God is smiling down on you whether it's raining, snowing, blowing, storming, and or Sun-shining! Thanks for taking us along w/you on this amazing and beautiful trek! God bless you and your family and fellow hiking buddies! Stay strong and know that we're pulling for you!

As a Dad and a hiker I would like to weigh in on view spots near road access points. I agree with your statements completely. My kids have been feeling up to longer hikes and on a recent one, my oldest asked me why a certain mountain top view "felt" different than another had to him. I told him it was probably because he had to earn that one instead of just riding in the car to the view. The car views are still cool, but now he is beginning to understand and get the itch for the views that a smaller number of people get to see. But, one thing that my boys and I ALWAYS carry in our packs (especially for the views near parking/roads) is trash bags and rubber gloves. We clean up all the crap we see and try to make the trail nice and tidy for everyone. seeing the trash removes my faith in my fellow man, but watching my boys get joy out of leaving it better for the next person gives me a little faith back. Carry on Frozen, Katahdin awaits.

New subscriber (well since the Ep 1 of your AT hike) and first time commenter. Absolutely loving the AT vids. After years of day hiking I’m taking the plunge into backpacking and all of your older videos have been extremely helpful in helping me put together a setup that will be good for what I want to accomplish and without breaking the bank (as well as some ideas for new hikes). Keep up the great work. If you need anything as you pass through Maryland just say the word - I’m barely 30mins from several AT trail heads.

I did the Roan mountains with my brother and sister last year. It's hard work and yet so beautiful. Can't believe you didn't go down to the barn. It was worth the trip in my opinion. We stopped at Iron Mountain Hostel too. It's both a B&B and a Hostel. Seemed like a very nice place with great food when the food wagon is open. Good luck on your hike.

I appreciate your conundrum with the parking lots. I work for an outdoor retailer that lives "outdoors for all" and I can understand it like you said, but I think there are positives to there being barriers of entry for places/activities. Requiring some kind of effort/education usually leads to more respect. I don't know what the answer is either, sometimes messy human things don't have a good answer. Fortunately for me, I get to encounter people who are just getting into these kinds of things everyday, and once I realized that I try to mention basic things like LNT or simply leaving things better than you found them when I can. I also appreciate your dedication to the work of making these while hiking. Have a good one.

I TOTALLY agree with you about Parking Lots. I can recall seeing a couple of guys hauling a cooler on wheels along the pathway. They and their buddies were bringing in enough beer to have a super late, super loud "party". Then "someone" in their group decided they needed firewood so started chopping at midnight for a good hour.

I (Barbara) can relate to being a very light sleeper. I have dealt with insomnia for about 20 years and it can be draining. Craig snores really, really loud....I have learned to combat it by using sleep earbuds. I play a very calming audio book...someone with a monotone (two good ones are I Hike by Lawton Grinter or AWOL on the Appalachian Trail narrated by Christopher Lane) or easy listening instrumental music. This could be a battery issue for you, but honestly an audio book or music does not use as much battery life as one would think. Anyway, it works for me and I just thought I would share. You might try it in desperate situations. In regards to the negative comments, you know who you are and what you are capable of....don't let anyone make you doubt anything. You are one of the most capable hikers I have ever seen and I have no doubt you will make it all the way!! God Bless!!

I'm enjoying following your journey - thank you for your commitment to bring us along! Just a thought about the Fish Oil gel-caps: it's great you are taking these, but it is probably best you take them in the evening rather than at lunchtime. The understanding is that, at night, you'll utilise them more for inflammation control (e.g. in your feet and knee joints) whereas during the day you'll route them more for energy-consumption (i.e. you'll just burn them up as extra calories).

Thanks I'll adjust. What about the multi vitamins? Also evening?
@dcaudwell
@dcaudwell 5 жыл бұрын
@@FrozensAdventures I don't think Multi Vitamin timing is so critical in your circumstance, so take them whenever it is convenient! (In certain pathologies timing can be quite critical, but then you want to separate the vitamins and minerals more anyway). Just thinking about your weight loss, I wonder if you might consider getting a small bottle of Olive Oil each resupply and adding about 2 tablespoons per day into your Ramen (if you can stomach the thought, or indeed the taste!). Just make sure you secure the top and double-bag it in Ziplocs, otherwise Olive Oil Pack Explosion!! (Been there!) Anyway, this is just purely to boost your calorie intake between town food stops.

It seems like Spring is chasing Frozen north, but Spring is falling further and further behind because Frozen hikes so fast. In the videos up to now, I haven't seen any redbuds or dogwoods blooming. And where are all the budding plants with new leaves and the wild flowers? They seem rarer than Trail Magic in these videos. :) If pine trees and firs didn't exist, the scenery would be very depressing. I'm not blaming Frozen for going fast, but I am waiting for some video of flowers and maybe even a bee. :)

EAT! LOL. You have good days and bad days and some days where you have both, isn't it great. Was at Penmar today Saturday 3/30 and met a thru hiker. Yes a thru hiker at the Maryland Pennsylvania line. A German guy from Hamburg who was #48 on the AT registry but Had only 2 guys in front of him that he knew of. He started February 2 and said he has so many people quitting the trail. Jason I know you will be fine but I will say it anyway, stay strong your living the dream. Hike on brother.

Question about your shoes. You are using the Altra Lone Peak 3.5 and then 4 which is a trail running shoe. Why not the boot for ankle support? I am always concerned about a turned ankle particularly on sections that have a lot of roots or rocks. Good Luck! Keep Going! Thanks.

Not being able to move your ankles creates IT band problems for me. Lots of people out here have switched to trail runners thru hiking because of Achilles tendon issues.

This stretch seems more beautiful than the Smokies - and rivals the Whites. Or is it just that the weather is better?

Great effort man ! Your video quality and audio is perfect. I see other people’s videos and one guy in particular all you see is a view of his mouth ! And it’s shaky as hell. Anyway, one step at a time ! Keep up the great work ! You got this !

Unaaka Mt. is fabulous, wanted to camp there but hit it too early in the day. This was a great section. Did you see the cattle they have up on the bald after Carvers Gap?

Nope don't think the cattle are out yet. Passed through several farms so far but nothing.
