Amen sister 🙏 my brother passed away last summer leaving me 3 children between the ages of 8-12 and I’ve already raised my children and am a grandmother of 3...I’m doing my best to teach them gardening, canning, freeze drying, dehydrating and self preservation.....I’m tired too but defeat isn’t an option ❤️

My husband had a massive stroke 2 years ago. I'm now his primary caregiver. However, I spent the last 2 days clearing an acre of pines to plant another garden. We've been dropping trees, pulling stumps, transplanting balckberries, peach trees, and blueberries. We both worked 30 years, he took care of everyone and in an instant we almost lost everything. But you can ask my sourdough starter "Joe" (guess why I named him that 🤣), and all my canners and freezers and 50lb buckets of flour what I've been doing about it. You're 100% correct. It's coming. MY kids are all grown, but 2 know they might have to move back home to help make it all work, and help take care of dad while we make sure the gardens and chickens are tended to. You inspired and helped me so much 2 years ago. We are so like minded. I normally don't comment. It's not my thing, but after last week, I had to jump in one time. After all we've worked for, all we've lived through, we still aren't owed anything, and me and mine will continue working toward being as self sufficient as we can be. I'm not going anywhere lol. This paragraph should hold me another 2 years. Sending love. ❤️

My mother lived through the Great Depression and World War Two, and us girls used to chuckle a little when at the beginning of canning system, she worked so hard. We all did. She would send us to the basement to bring up the empty jars and wash them. (Our dishwasher had two hands.) We peeled and pickled and packed everything that came through the doors. I'm so grateful I learned so much from her. We always said "she acts like she thinks we're all in immanent danger of starving!" She grew up hungry at times -- she knew what she was doing.. It's time to go make more apple butter. Thanks for the reminder 🐾

I extremely dislike the taste of canned tuna and that goes for SPAM as well, BUT I am no fool. I have canned a heck of a lot of trout lately because I like that, and I'd rather do that than buy tuna. I have lived in countries where those foods would be a loved delicacy, and if push comes to shove...guess who is going to eat it! Me. My Norwegian grandma was born in 1890 and came to America in 1910, and thanks to her I grew up knowing to be thankful for every bite I eat. I have been in Special Forces Survival training and have eating bugs and critters that would shake your timbers, but I survived it and kept moving forward. I take a few moments and bless everything that I eat and drink and that's all there is to it. I seldom comment but thank you for all you are doing to try and wake people up. My mother at the age of 8 in 1937 said she worked all day cleaning for another family for ONE DOZEN EGGS.... She said all day too. Not a couple hours. She said she was one happy girl when she bought the eggs home because they would have something to eat. My grandmother grew large gardens and canned all summer every year until she died. Being a bad cook has trained me to eat almost anything because I WILL NOT WASTE FOOD! My kids are being so picky - rejecting my homemade sourdough bread and homemade jam (I just learned to water bath can and am so proud) - and I just think, you're going to go mighty hungry if you don't learn to embrace what is available to fill your little bellies. I try to save the best of everything for them and am practicing rationing what I eat - I want to be comfortable with one meal a day if necessary - time to embrace intermittent fasting after all! I am just into the underweight BMI and want to stay there, so at my age, with my metabolism, I don't need much to survive and THRIVE!

Thanks Patara, I was born in 63' and turn 59 in September. I am fortunate in that I knew many of my grand parents and great grand parents as a boy into my teen years. I remember so many stories of how hard times were during the 30's and the terrible world war that followed. These are stories that young people today can only receive from reading or videos, or more likely, not at all. Very hard times are coming fast and many millions are going to be financially vaporized. I have to wonder just how expensive does gas have to get until people wake up? Perhaps many are just living large upon their credit cards until they are maxed out??? It's somewhat amusing that the people who worry the most about what is coming are actually the people who need to worry the LEAST. Those who should be terrified are blissfully oblivious. Again, thank you for another great video. All the best from Northern Appalachia (Central PA)!

Who on earth says they won't eat canned tuna?? I can see not looking forward to spam direct from the can, but fry it up and it becomes a LOT more palatable, rather bacon-like, and it's surprising what one can eat and how good it tastes when you get a little hungry. Like when you go camping and cook over an open fire - nothing tastes better than spaghetti with sauce and pine needles!

I helped a neighbor with a downed tree and he shared a whole lot of beautiful sweet potatoes with me. They are now in 31 pint jars. Today I put up 8 quart jars of chicken legs that were in the freezer. I really enjoy canning because it is something I can do while sitting in my walkers seat. Hi Patera. You beautiful girl you! 💕 My sweet husband and I went to Tulsa today, and I started to take pictures of empty shelves and price hikes. I said, "I feel like I'm Patera walking down these isles, picking up this and that a few of those, etc..." 🥰 I am almost 74 years old and I grew up in a family of nine children growing up on pinto beans and cornbread, wild rabbit, squirrel, deer, chicken that I watched my mom and aunt butchering. They had a fire outside with a big galvanized tub of boiling water. They'd grab a chicken and snap the head off with one snap if their wrist and it would flop all over. Then they would plunge it into the boiling water to loosen the feathers, then singe the fine ones in the fire before butchering. I don't think I've ever tasted chicken that tasted as good as those. The chickens didn't suffer, death was instant and we had meat. We canned all summer. The kids helped snap beans by the bushels. Momma knew how much we needed to get through the winter. We lived in Aurora, Mo at that time. We would go to my aunt's house out in the country and pick blackberries. She put up 80 quarts every summer. Talk about good blackberry cobbler! I grew up learning how to make cornbread, biscuits, pie crust etc...and to make a meal out of almost nothing. There were nine kids in the family and there were no in-between meal snacks most of the time, maybe popcorn. Momma saved her pennies and made a homemade German Chocolate Cake once a month. Yummy! Not one of us was overweight as young people. We worked right along side of her to stock up for winter. My husband and I lived on 2 and 1/2 acres in Iowa for 19 years and with that rich black dirt we had bumper crops of vegetables and an Apple, Cherry, and Peach orchard. I did a lot of canning and freezing. Sadly, the last year we were there, I filled a big upright freezer with beautiful veggies. The element went out without our noticing for a few days because it was in the garage. Lost everything. So I can see why we should can or freeze dry stuff. I had a small freezer full of organic grass fed beef and chicken, here in Okla where we are now, about 80 lbs. My son came in last week and said it was thawed out. Thank God he caught it when it had just thawed out. We spent the entire day until 10 at night, pressure cooking and boiling meat and putting it in freezer bags. I had 35 or 40 lbs of just ground beef. So we're looking to getting a freeze dryer for that purpose and putting it and our garden produce in mylar bags. Have you ever done that? I gave my pressure canner to my daughter because honestly, I'm just not able to do much canning anymore...age (and damage done by doctors) has taken it's toll on this old lady. I still make salsa and water bath stuff though. I looked at a new pressure canner from Amazon but $400! I think I'd rather invest in the freeze dryer. Sorry for rambling. Keep up the good work young lady. You were raised right. God bless 🥰💕🙏💕

No fluff over here. There's no way I can do some of the things you're doing bc I live in an apartment building. But I'm definitely doing the 5 can thing. Honey I'm doing more than that. Doing a canned goods haul tmrw. I'll never have the size of pantry you do. But doing my best. Turned the coat closet & walk-incloset into two pantries.

If you have a balcony or patio you still still garden with a tiered planter. There are also tiered planters that you can do in your house. Every little bit helps.

Well said Patara. As a single mother I am trying to get a garden going, and stock up as much as I can. Thank you for being honest, some people live in denial and can't stand to hear the truth... And you are right some or most of them will not survive. God bless you and your family. Thankyou for who you are, you are amazing. I learn alot from you videos. Have a wonderful day. I love how you say it like it is with no sugar coating! People are lazy or just don't want to hear it and that's up to them. Keep on speaking it like it is girlfriend and don't stop doing the things. Those of us that have eyes to see and ears to hear know what's coming.

Gods thoughts on prepping Proverbs 21:20 " In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but the foolish devours all he has." Gods thoughts on the importance of a food supply Proverbs 24:27 Prepare your work outside And make it ready for yourself in the field; Afterwards, then, build your house. Gods thoughts on tough times Luke 22:35-36 - Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Jesus clearly told His disciples that they should have some extra money, provisions, and a weapon they could use for self-defense. The above verse should not be used to justify violence. Jesus did not tell His disciples to steal or to hurt anyone. The weapon was to be used for self-defense and not for personal gain or for violence. cheers for posting Girl , you keep sayin what your sayin , no lies in there , lotsa truths , keep going .. cheers

I watch five or six you tube channels fairly regularly, and in the last week every single one has had to talk about the topic of being attacked, criticized and argued with. It’s very telling - some people are in such huge denial. Keep doing what you do, it is so helpful AND appreciated.

It's the anti Christ spirit trying to keep hope dead... It's sad to see so many people allowing Satan to rule their thoughts. We need to pray for them all.😪🙏

I agree, I've noticed the same thing too, that the channels I watch are speaking out about the attacks or naysayers. This channel, Canadian Prepper, Alaska Prepper and Deepsouth Homestead are my everyday channels.

The most important "weapon" you can have for those who show up looking for help or food is a fishing pole (a wooden stick, line and a hook) to give away. " Teach a man to fish and he will NEVER go hungry."

So thankful to get pounds and pounds of cherries from my friend's tree. Pitting and canning will happen this week. Also making a cherry crumble to give back to my friends for giving me so much fruit.

How are you pitting them? We used to sit around the table with hairpins and pull the pits out. Not bobby pins, hair pins. They have a wider gap. (This is for those who have no idea what a hair pin or bobby pin is.)

I am happy you said this. So many of us feel so much pressure to do the things you mentioned. Everybody is trying to keep up with the Joneses and very seldom are people willing to tell the truth! I for one am guilty of seeing my neighbors going on trips now that everything is open again.. and I am at home canning and making lists, trying new recipes with canned foods... feeling guilty and dare I say it a little ashamed bc I am not doing such and with my kids. Thank you for this. When I watch my children eating at the table eating breakfast, lunch, whatever seeing them eat and thinking of not being able to feed them in the future puts the fear of God in me and that overrides me feeling guilty for not taking them on trips.

We bought an above ground pool last summer, I live in Florida and haven’t even been in it to swim because I have been working my tail off in the garden, attempting to grow things that don’t grow well in the scorching sun. Putting up shade cloths to hopefully yield more variety. I can’t just relax because I want my house in order, pantry full! I am 66 with 7 grown kids one who severely handicapped. He requires all his food purée and we have been stocking up on the foods he needs. My other children do not see the urgency I see and it’s tough. I think about my 14 grandchildren who have no idea what it is to do without. None have a pantry or have more than a few days of food. They are all good kids and have good jobs but just can’t seem to grasp what’s really happening. I pray each day that God will open their eyes.

We filled up the boat with gas $122 😮😢..but didn't even end up going because we looked around and yes the weather was definitely lake weather but ... the garden needed weeding, more plants were ready to go in the ground, deck needed a couple metal roof panels replaced...and other little things... we just couldn't do it...well we could have but I couldn't have enjoyed it myself thinking about all those things we needed to get done 😂

You got that right. 24hr. job. I'm live in care taker for sister who has had stroke. Relearning to walk again. She's doing good. GOT to have walker. I have been fixing trailer for her. Raised toilet seat, recliner that helps her get up, and so forth. I'm surprised how much food we have been able to stock. Now I'm doing the container planting. And get at road sales. My problem is how to hide it. I'm studying and praying about it. THANK you for your honesty and advice. God Bless. Well better get started. Watch more of you later. Again Thanks 👍👍👍❤❤❤
