as a non-mechy high plat/low diamond, i could never really figure out kickoffs except for delaying to counter weak speedflip kickoffs. when they waited back there it was a nightmare: take a shot and they can save it; screw up the flick and they'll 50 it off your car and walk it into your goal.

15:03 I wonder if Jack has thought about the counter to this "no-go kickoff" that vatira does - that the counter could be simply going for a very low air drible bump play neart he ground, similar to how the seer bot likes to score. Basically just drible on ground, but the second you're close to the opponent, drive a little faster and jump so that you fly ahead of the ball, hopefully bumping the goalie away while the pop on the ball from ur little jump sends the ball on target.

I learned to flick because someone in my gold games did this entire game and won and I wasn't equipped to handle it. Years later up in D3/C1 they don't get away with it, I was so scarred by that gold that I'm always on the look out and I can flick them or flakes cut them every time they try it now.

I know that kickoff is infuriating in low ranks, when your mechs arent good enough to take advantage of the possession. Especially if they counter and score off your bad shot attempt 😂 good ol days

the counter to that kickoff is just slightly rolling the ball towards the net then driving in front to bump the defender. seen people do that for the past couple months and i usually score with this strategy.

thats a very high commit play, if you miss the bump you will always get scored on, not as good as the chip and applying pressure imo, but at lower ranks the bump will probably work

It would not work, after your speed flip you will already be supersonic and cant gain anymore speed ao it would be useless

It might "work" if the goal is to fake jump towards ball but hit breakes a little earlier and let the opponent hit the ball into you so it bounces back into their half, however if you spy that the opponent does not go for ball also then you zap dash when you land and use the little burst of speed to get the ball up in the air, so you can either start a drible or take a quick shot. But the zapdash will NEVER get you "first" to the ball if opponent is indeed going for the ball

In second game where Vatira didn't go kickoff, just break before mid, tap it slightly to a side to create a bounce and an angle, then hookshot/tap it further and fake. Could also just shoot it as it will force him to save and give up boost. You insisted on going straight forward each time, very strange with no adaption. Anyway, thanks for the videos 🤝
