Appeals court decision on Maryland gun ban could impact political races nationally

The latest court decision upholding Maryland’s ban on certain military-style guns is keeping the gun debate at the political forefront.
The federal appeals ruling, which impacts several states including Virginia, states those semiautomatic weapons are disproportionate to the need for self-defense. University of Mary Washington Political Science Professor Stephen Farnsworth, PhD, feels this ruling will ramp up the conversation on guns both locally and nationally.

Its a semi-automatic rifle its not an assault rifle. Everytime someone uses that ridiculous description the only thing assaulted is our intelligence. Its the most popular rifle sold in the United States because its inexpensive, easy to maintain, versatile for different calibers, lightweight for smaller individuals to use, customized to suit different shooters with handicaps and most importantly accurate for anyone in a self defense situation.

@@oneslackr i don’t know that it really matters, once they get the effective weapons there is no chance of the population rebelling. I get this from looking to Canada and Europe and Australia. They didn’t ban all guns there they banned the effective guns, the population while technically armed is not really armed because so few people have guns and the guns they have are not effective against semiautomatics.

Did not reset precedent for evaluating a persons gun rights. It reaffirmed the 2008 Heller ruling by SCOTUS that Democrat heavy courts have trampled on and violated since 2008. It clarified Heller and informed courts they can no longer make stuff up on their own, by requiring them to follow the Constitution as our forefathers saw it at the time the right was created using the text, history and tradition of firearm laws at the time.
