When I look at the Otto Hutt designs in comparison to other manufacturers in the industry I see two things: 1) uniqueness and 2) completeness of design. With other manufacturers you can see where they derived their "inspiration" from other designs whereas the Otto Hutt pens strike me as being designed from the ground up. Similarly, with other manufactures, there may be one part of the pen that is unique (material, Barrie, filling mechanism, etc) but with Otto Hutt designs the entire pen is masterfully designed with elemts that complement each other throughout the entire pen. Great work and enjoyable interview.

I also like Otto Hutt. Unfortunately I can find something in every line that I must have. Otto Hutt’s designs are clean and spare. The designs lean towards the masculine, at least the portion of the collection I have seen. It seems that pens along with ink and paper need a kind of overhaul to bring more customers into the fold, as it were… When I was working in the fashion industry I had to create style numbers. Each digit had meaning, so you know what the design consisted of from the style numbers. We also named our collections along with the style numbers.Names give you something to discuss withnI see pens trending in the same way certain fashions trend… There are a lot of interesting directions this industry can go… I wonder, does Otto Hutt have a signature design, a staple which always sells? The pen industry excites me almost as much as the trim for the fashion industry we used to create. I wish I personally knew someone who could teach me about this industry, but not from the small home crafter POV…

I think that Otto Hutt is more than a business. It is an ethos of creating objects which not only fulfill one’s expectations, but also develop them into area of creativity. With these instruments people just want to write. Simplicity and sophistication leave space for breathing, feeling the moment when nib touches surface of paper. Everything becomes an element. Otto hutt makes very beautiful Bauhaus style pens! I tried out an Otto Hutt before and I am quickly amused by the smoothness of the nib, the high quality made barrel and the heft of the pen (I personally like heavier pens). The balance of the pen is incredible too! I saw from the previous video that the factory uses very advanced machines to make their pens compared to some traditional factories which uses handmade for most of the manufacturing process as well. The design 04 you are giving away is my favourite line in the Otto Hutt family:)

Thanks for interview. I love Otto Hut's nib grades, it always performs very well in both steel and gold nib options. They also have very elegant designs. In addition to such beautiful features, they have much more reasonable prices than many German brands. That's nice too.

It is a credit to Ottohut that they are one of the few pen companies that completes so much of their manufacturing in-house. This is why their pens are crafted to jewlers certification and standards and their quality is so high. Their master craft people design and make pens to the highest quality with a range of models that span all eras and styles from traditional to modern. Now I get the reason behind sterling silver element that often, if not always, shows in Otto Hutt’s fountain pen. It is great that they keep their specialized heritage in silversmith and incorporated it to their design. I think that Otto Hutt’s fountain pen is a nice combination of classic and modern design and that Design04 would be a great example of that. I also love their nib’s design. Classy!

I find Otto Hutt great! The designs are excellent, but also the writing instruments themselves, especially the quality. Currently I have, among other things, the Design 6 ballpoint pen in gold (250 years of Gold City) and some other pens, a fountain pen is still missing. Would be happy to win this white fountain pen. The pens look very elegant. In order to be successful in India, you will have to be very careful of the price range. 100 Euro + Import duty is out of reach for many many people. Keeping that aside, we for sure need a brand like Otto Hutt to bring back the days of beautiful and elegant writing instruments.

I think Otto Hutt as a brand adopt their business from time to time to be suitable to market demand and still maintain their heritage. Their pens have great design, but for my opinion, the way they named their pens quite flat, Design 04, Design 08. To giveaway the very same design that used by the CEO himself is a guarantee that you’ll have a reliable fountain pen in your hand as an EDC pen.
