Manipulation and punching back. The mock and destroy the child's self esteem and being able to to stand on their own. And the child will run themselves ragged to try and get the parents approval. The parent thinks this way the child will do what ever they want and they get free slave who will pay for them.

My mom always tried to get her mother's applroval while she was alive. But she wasn't as bad as this mother. Her mother always favored her other daughter who was useless. It sounds harsh I know but she lived with their mom and promised to take care of their elderly mom but ended up being taken care of by her mother. My mom always had a job, with an education and self-sufficient with an amazing husband but it never made a difference. I wasn't sad when her mother passed away but I'm glad mom isn't continuously being put down anymore.

Come on girl, if you applied the energy apent begging your mother to love you to your job, think where you would be. If you have to beg for love, you willnot get it because they do not have any to give. It is not a slur at you, they only love themselves and someone who works THAT hard at putting someone else down is because they lack something, needing to knock someone down so they can see themselves as better. Too bad it willnot woork.

2:50 in is where I hung up on my Dad. No accomplishment could erase "you're a bad daughter, a bad mother, a bad wife". He said this litany EVERY time we talked. None of which he knew anything about. It felt good. He died 40 years later and I felt free. No I didn't even hear about the funeral. No loss. I'm sorry to hear this is common enough that stories are written about it.

I have a suggestion. When it says "Next day", "Next Week", or "3 month later" or any time passage, could those parts be read out loud? I usually listen without watching the screen. Those parts being audible would be wonderful. I wouldn't have to either guess or come to the video & rewind/pause to see that part.
