I have never heard of someone moving other's into someone else's house. I would've threw both of them out ASAP.. this wouldn't of been ok even if it was his house. They are married. If you care about how gift money is spent, then you say, "Give me the vendor's information, and I'll pay them directly." Likewise, when someone begs for help paying medical bills, you say, "Give me the hospital bill, and I'll pay them, directly." If they're honest and true, they'll just be grateful for the financial help. If they're not, then clearly, they're trying to scam you out of cash.

My brother in law pulled that crap on my sister. When my sister had a new baby. He moved one of his siblings, 17 and that sibling's hubby, 32, into their house and they behaved even worse than this...though he wasn't giving them an allowance. They were eating my sisters food, running her utility bills way up, using her things, opening her mail, messing up her house and mocking her...but at least they weren't getting a stipend for doing it.

To the writer(s) of this channel your work is great. That said I would like to add a couple of scenarios to give you more variety. First idea spouse cheats so OP ghosts spouse. Second idea. Spouse wants open marriage. A LOT of variety for the second idea. The one wanting an open marriage could threaten divorce before opening up the marriage or when they want to close it. Rules made and broken by the two of them. The spouse that wanted the open marriage isn't as hot as they thought they were while the OP is. Lots of options there.

Generally speaking, if the parents are not abusive or neglectful, and they say, "You need to support yourself," it's a BAD idea for a sibling to step in and take over taking care of that person, by giving them free housing. That just undermines the lesson the parents were trying to teach the person who needs to learn how to support themselves. If the Mama bird pushes her baby birds out of the nest, and one of the baby birds dives under the other baby bird, to support the other baby bird, they'll wind up both falling to the ground and breaking their wings. And the upper bird will NEVER learn how to fly. I mean, telling the sister, "You can stay with us for a week, while you find your own place," is fine. But give your wife more notice than that. And STICK to that deadline. Make it FIRM, and be prepared to physically drag your sister and her stuff OUT of your house, at the end of the week. In fact, it would be a good idea to say, "I'll spring for the moving truck as my graduation gift to you," and reserve it to show up, at the end of the week, to take the sister and her stuff anywhere the sister tells them to go, as long as it's AWAY from you. A deadline is easier to enforce if outside forces get involved, and if a moving truck, with movers, show up to cart away the sister and her three pieces of luggage, then she'll be too embarrassed to refuse them, and say, "No, I'm staying here, no matter what HE says," and refuse to budge. If she DOES that, you'll have witnesses, for when you call the police, and report her for trespassing. "Yes, Officer, we were called one week ago, and hired to come here, today, at this time, to take away that woman and whatever gear she had. When we arrived, she refused to go. The man who hired us continued to argue with her, and tell her that her time was up, and that this was the deadline, and that she had known for a week that we were coming, and that him hiring us to take her wherever she wanted was his gift to her, after he let her stay with them for a week. She plopped down on a chair, and wrapped her ankles around the legs, and refused to budge, and he asked us to move her AND the chair into the truck, and said she could keep the chair at her new place, but that's when she dive-jumped to the couch, and tried to tie herself to the sofa. And that's when he called you to report her for trespassing. Then, the screaming started, and he kindly fetched us all some earplugs, notepads and pens. Seems like he was prepared on all fronts. We all just sat there, wearing our earplugs and writing notes to each other, while she screamed her head off about not going, until you arrived on the scene."

43 minutes in. "Think of it as a way to grow up and face your fears! Anyway, be sure that her room is ready by tomorrow." "Once again, this is MY HOUSE and *I* and ONLY *I* say who stays here, and right now, I say that YOU AND YOUR SISTER AND HER DOG CAN GO LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE. lf she shows up here tomorrow, you can all leave, and turn in the divorce papers on your way. How DARE you try to pull this on me?!" "But, Mom and Dad refuse to take her in! She has nowhere else to go! As her big brother, it's my responsibility to take care of her!" "As her big brother, it's your responsibility to follow your parents' lead, and TEACH HER INDEPENDENCE. You are undermining their authority, and undermining the lessons they are trying to teach her. You are spoiling her, and ultimately dooming her to a lifetime of being helpless and incompetent. AND you are completely disrespecting your wife and ENDING YOUR MARRIAGE. I will NOT stay with a man who makes big decisions without me, especially when it comes to MY OWN PROPERTY and my comfort, AND someone who belittles my very rational fears and real traumas! You care SO MUCH about your spoiled brat of a sister, who SHOULD be able to stand on her own two feet, but not one ounce of sympathy for your WIFE, the woman you CLAIM to love more than any other! And your sister was SO STUPID as to adopt a dog one month before she was losing her apartment, KNOWING she had no other place to go! That is on HER, NOT ME!" "You can't seriously tell me you're going to divorce me over housing arrangements." "I'm divorcing you over the complete and utter disrespect and disregard for my feelings, and even my safety. Not to mention MY PROPERTY. You're trampling all over my rights, and my heart and I won't have it. If you're that sort of person, then I made a mistake in marrying you, and I'll fix it, right away." "Oh, fine. I'll just set her up in an apartment of her own. I'll take money from the joint savings account to cover it." "YOU WILL NOT USE ONE CENT OF MY MONEY! Use YOUR OWN savings account!" "But I can't afford to cover that! I don't have enough money in my savings account." "The fact that you, who have been working for years, have not saved up enough money to cover first and last month in a studio apartment is absolutely pathetic. We divide our contributions to the joint household account, proportionally, so that neither one suffers by paying more than they can afford. We divide our contributions to the joint savings account proportionally, for the same reason. What are you doing with your left over money?" "I spend it. Spending money is for spending!" "You don't save ANYTHING!" "Of course, I do! I save 10% of my income, every month, in the joint savings account." "So, you're telling me that since you started working, the ONLY money you've set aside in savings is the 10% I insisted on for the joint savings account?" "Exactly." "I cannot believe I married such a stupid man. The more I talk to you, the more I want a divorce. You were better off not even mentioning your sister. Before you said anything about her moving in with us, I was under the impression that you were an intelligent and responsible grown-up. No wonder you want to cushion her from having to grow up. You haven't really grown up, yourself. Your parents TRIED to teach you, but failed. Now, they're TRYING to teach her to be an independent adult, and you are forcibly stopping them from giving her the lesson she so desperately needs." "But, you can't mean that! I'm your husband! You love me!" "And I apologize for that. Now, you should start packing your things. Or, would you like me to pack your things for you, while you look for a new apartment for you and your sister to share? Oh! Be sure it accepts pets!" "Nooooooo!"
