Apple Airpods vs. iPhone X Microphone for Social Media Video

AirPods microphones only work when using an external app like MoviePro. They do not work with the regular camera app which is why it all sounds the same. It was only picking up the internal mic.

I'll have to test again to see if I'm getting results like you're getting, but there seems to be a difference when I was using them in the camera app. Weird.

This is interesting. SO a good solution is using an external camera app and not the iPhone camera? Because I like my airpods and I need a mic that allows me movement for vlogging

What about if you are using a gimbal that is already using your Bluetooth connection. Is is possible to have the gimbal working and the airpods?

The Airpods are just amazing. I take them everywhere. In the gym, out and about, at home, etc. I find them to work well for me in all situations. I like to check out a lot of media on my phone, especially things like IG stories and this helps me to do so discreetly without having a phone blaring. Battery lasts a good while. I can't speak highly enough to them.

I really like them a lot, too. I was using wired earbuds for years and I didn't mind it, but it sure is nice being untethered. All that said, I really didn't think the sound quality of my recording with the Airpods was better than the sound quality over using the onboard iPhone X mic. At least not enough to buy them for getting better sound or to have some sort of 'better' microphone.

The airpods don’t work on the iPhone camera. The reason it sounded the same is cause they both used the iPhone mic.

I did not hear much of a dif but when recording to iPhone at a distance with an app you have a lapel mic

Yes. Buy the Airpods for untethering, convenience, etc. But not because you get better sound. Some creators I've heard over the last year seem to suggest that the sound quality is better. Perhaps that is correct, but it's so slight and so difficult to really notice the difference that it's not the best purchase if you are buying them for 'better' audio in your social media videos.
