Anytime someone says “back in my day…” I answer “I know. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Isn’t it great that we don’t do that anymore!” Then I walk away if I’m standing, or turn my back on them if I’m not. It shuts up people marvelously well.
@susanhopemason

There were many things that were actually better, "back in my day". In some cases people who say that might be complaining, but I don't think that is the case most of the time. A LOT of things were better back then. We didn't have the advanced technology, of course, but advanced technology has its shortcomings, and isn't all sunshine and rainbows. I wouldn't have wanted to miss how things were back then for anything in the world. It wasn't perfect, but there were many awesome things. It gives us a much different perspective on things. We get to see the contrast between then and now. The perspective of younger people is much more limited. I definitely don't think that most older people are complaining about how things used to be. It is more of a nostalgic pride and gratitude that we were able to experience a much simpler world.

@@AquaMoonMaiden When I said simpler, I was NOT talking about world or national events or historical events. Of course, such macrocosmic events weren't any simpler. I lived through those years, and certain things that were common on a more micro cosmic level were indeed simpler. Like, we drank water from a water hose sometimes when we didn't want to go inside for it. We played outside more. We talked to each other in person more. We stayed and played outside more. We always had to come home before the street lights came on. We could ride our bikes without a helmet. We could ride in the back of a pickup truck because it wasn't illegal then. We didn't get a big fine for not wearing a seat belt. Prices were so much lower back then that it would probably shock younger people. We could walk lots of places without danger. It was even safer to hitch hike back then. I can remember getting milk delivered by a milk man. I can remember a man who came into our neighborhood selling vegetables from the back of a truck. The technology was even simpler. We had only 3 channels on TV and no cable. At around midnight the broadcast day would end, and the National Anthem would play...then it was just Grey fuzz that was called snow. Everyone knew that men can't be women, and women can't be men. Very few people got obese. It happened, but it was rare. Nobody sat at the dinner table and played on their phones instead of talking to each other. Most families all ate dinner together. Everyone considered things like measles and chicken pox normal, and nobody got freaked out about. Nobody even thought the flu was a big deal. It was believed that it was better to get things like measles and chicken pox while you were still a kid. Some people even had measles and chicken pox parties. Some people didn't even lock their doors at night. My parents didn't either, until one night a drunk man came in our house one night and passed out on the couch. He actually thought he was in his own house. Child abduction was extremely rare in those days. Also, there wasn't the kind of drug epidemics that we have today. They did exist to a certain extent, but it was nothing like it is now.

If your parents or you have money, never tell the person you’re dating. I had an easy time of not telling because my Mom would never have us move from the old house she bought with her War bonds in the 40’s

With the right lawyer Phillip could possibly make a case that Lucy promised to repay the $300,000 down payment because he has it in writing in the text messages. She never should have made that promise if she intended to screw him over because her own words could be used to charge her the fee.

She should listen to her mom.. sometime outsiders can see what we can't see in a relationship. They don't have on rose colored glasses like you do. Her mom saw him for the jerk that he is. He was not boyfriend material. She ignored the red flags.. like the way Phillip talks to her.. she has to practically beg him to take her out, meanwhile he's out here romancing other women.. he's running to his mother talking about her... no ma'am..I'm astonished she dated him for as long as she did.. she is a moron for taking him back!... she need some self esteem, self worth and some brain cells.. She came off very desperate and stupid.. one little text and she takes him back?.. what's wrong with her?.. had Bella not told her about him, she would've went ahead and married him. Despite what he's done and said and his mom talking to her crazy.. you can't be so desperate for a man/woman that you're willing to put up with anything just to keep them.

Wow, Lucy and Bella are both complete idiots. NEVER talk about someone else's finances! It's not your dang business! And of course he's going to go running back to her, and of course there's a chance she'll take him back! She admitted she loved him more than breathing- I've been there. You need to help people like that stay AWAY from that person and stew on all the crap they had to take so they fall out of love. If all Lucy has going for her is money then Bella is a terrible friend for seeing only that.

"Just remember, you're the one who decided they wanted to break up, not me." Seriously? LOL I am sorry, but when you are in a relationship with someone indicating you want to break up doesn't have to be done verbally. Little things, like dating someone else, behind your partners back, can be subtle nonverbal cues that you want the relationship over. 🙄
@leannes1083
@leannes1083 Жыл бұрын
Not answering texts, calls or voicemails, not meeting up with them for days, or weeks, at a time. Never staying over and having "adult" time. The 'non verbal clue' list goes on... But cheating is normally a pretty good indicator that the relationship is over! 🤭

Okay I get what OP did but Im not sure of the legality of it. Even an agreement in text is a contract. She said that if she took out the loan(s) she'd pay him back. He did so with her promise so I think legally she does have to pay him back if he takes her to court

Lucy was an idiot and for just trusting him so much. She went too far when she pretty much scammed him. Her friend Bella is the reason that he came back to her. It would have been easy and fine to just get his mom’s restaurant failed. Her friend is actually the main problem. She told him everything he shouldn’t have been told.

I don't know is OP was naive/stupid enough to take him back then something made her trick Phillip into his current situation before dumping him for good or if she planned this after her mom helped her stop drinking. Would have been funny if after OP told him what was going to happen & saying goodbye for the final time he freaks out & begs for forgiveness & help. I hope OP is able to find someone trustworthy & faithful who doesn't want to use her for anything she has cause she needs someone faithful & I don't fully trust her with people at the moment. At least she's learned from this & her mom is probably giving her advice. I want to imagine Phillip is struggling with paying for the house he was tricked into getting, he probably has trouble selling the place or has to pay a fee to get the person he bought it from to take it off his hands. Phillip is also shunned by his & OP's friends for not only cheating on & using OP but also for yelling at one of the friends for showing OP the proof. Meanwhile his mom is panicking due to losing her restaurant as she not only owes a back pay of rent & whatever other fees but given her behavior/personality she's probably having trouble finding a job. At some point Phillip & his mom likely fight, the mom blames him cause she thinks him pissing off OP & her family led to her life being ruined while Phillip blames her cause this all started with her convincing him to try to cheat on OP with some girl the mom thought was better.
