I would think that as long as you have the steering wheel control module for your vehicle it would. Since I do not have steering wheel controls, I can't test it myself.

Yes I am. While it still does not support CarPlay via Bluetooth, I still love the fact that it keeps my phone charged while using!

Hi, I own the European Version ILX-700. But "Hey Siri" is not working good. If I use the Siri Button it works, but hands free starting with "Hey Siri" is not working. I hear the gong, but it is not understanding me properly. How is it on your system? And why do you install this switch for simulating the brake signal instead directly connecting the wir to ground (this simulates that reak break is on continously). Is there any advantage by using a switch?

I actually do not use Hey Siri, either in the car or on the phone...I prefer to hit the button. I will have to try it now though!

I should be receiving my Carplay unit today and will be installing it in my 2012 Hyundai Sonata. I am tired of the delay when I press the SIRI button! I have a few questions for those that have Carplay. 1. If the phone is plugged in and Carplay is running, will I be able to hear audio from non-carplay apps either through the cord or Bluetooth? I use Pocket TTS and also a third party podcast app. 2. What happens if the phone is plugged in and I open an app and want to add text using siri (press the mic button on the keyboard)? 3. If I am using the navigation and then want to look something up in another app, what happens when I press the home button or navigate to another app? One thing that I am trying to figure out is if I need to plug and unplug for different situations. I hope that is not the case. I know that it is considered overkill to replace my radio with an expensive carplay unit just because of a delay issue, but I hope that I may learn to like it.

+Hank Hoffmeier ok... 1. Yes, any audio of he phone will play through the car speakers! Including non-CarPlay apps! 2. It would be the same as the phone itself, just using CarPlay Mic 3. It is just like the phone itself when using there maps app. It will still do turn by turn, but you would just be in the app you opened. I leave my phone plugged in for everything!

Hmmm...I haven't seen that myself at all, must be in Store Demo Mode. Have you looked through the settings?

If I'm not mistaken, the only way to get rid of the demo screen is to have the proper cord connected to your e brake or do an electrical switch.

Waze is NOT Carplay enabled which makes me very very sad. Maybe they will change that some day.

+Chris4943 it does what he phone does. If you close the maps app on the phone, it will not show the map on the radio. It will still do turn by turn, but not the map interface

Great video! One thing that isn't clear to me is if this model Alpine has full support for bluetooth audio, bluetooth phone support and automatic backup camera support. Does it support these modes? If so, how have you found the quality/experience? Thanks !

Not in park. If you are driving, you will not be able to see other options.

I would have to calculate the data usage for maps, but yes, you can use FM while also using Carplay with maps or other non audio apps.

What happens if you are in navigation mode in car play, but during the journey you drop by a restaurant for lunch. When you get back into your car and plug your iphone back in, does the navigation continue?

It is just as if you did navigation on your phone, it should automatically continue.

It is the same as using Apple Maps on your phone. CarPlay just mirrors it to the radio. So if you don't pause it, it will continue while in the restaurant.

Most of these options should be disabled when there is a single driver. I live in So. California where the streets and freeways are already full of distracted drivers weaving all over the place. How would you like to see a car barreling towards you while the driver's head is down as they are checking their email or surfing the internet? More is not always better. Stay safe folks, and keep that shoulder mounted app called your brain focused while you drive.

+gotrottin hmmmm...CarPlay locks a lot of those features out, it is built to be less distracting. You cannot read texts, they are read to you. You cannot watch video, but can only listen to audio. It is actually less distracting than most factory Nav radios.

Pandora is does not have a CarPlay interface as of yet, but the one thing that the radio does do when in CarPlay mode is play anything that the phone does. So, for instance, KZbin audio! It is just like using the aux port of a non smart radio in this case.
