I have a Passat B8 2018 and Apple Car-Play works only through a USB cable. Usually the Bluetooth works for only the phone log Is there a way to Apply Apple Car Play without the cable? thx

Not for the B8, the version of CarPlay build into those infotainment systems still needs the cable. The new Passat 2019 does support wireless CarPlay. As far as I know there is no adapter etc. available to get wireless CarPlay in older Passats.

It is indeed a stock radio. This all glass look was introduced at least in Germany only a few month before making this video.

Yes, you can. But only if you bought the voice command feature with the car or added it later by paying for it.

nerd rides I just went to test drive a 2.0 High Line with the 8” Discover system and it didn’t have the voice command; however long pressing the steering wheel button does indeed activate Siri

Maybe I don’t recall right. I remember Siri being activated by long-pressing the home button on the display. I don’t have the b8 anymore. Right now I am testing a Mercedes all-terrain. Check out my playlist on it - also a very nice estate!

Depends on the state of Apple car play and android auto. At the time of recording it was not possible using CarPlay.

In the car. If you did not buy it with the car then you need to enter a code from VW. That should pop up when you press the „app“ button on the infotainment system.

You could ask your car dealer or check eBay. This is the 2017 version of the radio composition media with CarPlay additionally activated. The primary change to the predecessor is the „all glas“ surface and touch control for the menu buttons.
