I agree with you, this is absolutely mind-blowing. Even if Apple only manages to get 30 fps, I'm willing to try it just for the fact that this device will be silent. What I found missing was some kind of fancy gaming controller. I know you can connect Sony or Microsoft controllers, but if Apple released a unique controller that hasn't been seen before, I think it could be the hit of the season.

My personal opinion on this is I would love to use my already used apple ecosystem from my Mac computer to headphones to Apple TV to include a gaming system, But lets be honest if gaming is virtually impossible on any of their computer systems which is the primary reason people are still using PC over Mac I have a hard time believing they could create a gaming system that can compete although would love to be proven wrong, but as mentioned in this video there are a lot of GATCHA games that are currently available on my iPhone but I do not know how that compares to my actual console games or pc games.

Part of the brilliance of Apple Silicon in Macs is the same game could run on Mac iPad iPhone AppleTV without recompiling it for a different CPU. Also, Apple already has a cheaper AppleTV without ethernet, so Apple could put A18 in the cheap model and A18 Pro in the ethernet model for gaming

I think an updated Apple TV with an A18 SoC with 12 to 16 GB of RAM and possibly local storage expansion through a Thunderbolt 4 port may not be such a far-fetched idea. That way, game data could be stored on a external mass storage device as large as 3 TB, connected at a data speed of 40 gigabits/second.

Apple doesn't need to negotiate with developers about app store, first of all they already have the small business program for just 15% cut off.. but the most important part, Steam, Microsoft/Xbox and Playstation store are still cut off 30%.. the reason why everyone thinks it's only Apple fee is because of Epic lawsuit, but almost all other stores are also cut off 30% even today...

I think it's unlikely the Apple will make a games console. You can already play games on an Apple TV with a game pad. I can see them refreshing the existing Apple TV with a later and higher performance processor along with more storage.

Apple can't even make gaming on Mac good let alone building a console. Apple can't do it and the new M4 GPU is not even good so they would need to make a dedicated new chip or use Nvidia or AMDs chip and they won't do it. If they actually launch a console it will underperform the competitor and will have a bigger price because that's what Apple does. I can already imagine "Here's the magic controller" "Apple intelligence bla bla BLA". I don't trust Apple for gaming. I really wish Apple would give us a good gaming experience on Mac but they can't do it and they have no excuse it's not like Macs were launched last year. They're here for decades and Apple never cared about gaming.
