Welcome back. The house looks amazing! Will be watching. I am especially interested to see if you have a way to limit what each family member can access/control. For example, I wouldn't want my kids to be able to accidently turn off key security accessories or safty accessories like leak sensors, etc. Can we provide limited access to family members? If so, a video on this would be great.

Steve thanks for the compliment .. Currently my kids 8 & 5 dont have any idevices but yes you can only limit accessories access via the apple home app which is under home settings > Under people > select the user and theres a toggle to allow Add / Edit accessories

Eddie, I am a long time viewer of yours and when I saw the title of this video it did not make sense to me! I thought he already has done all this. However after watching I cannot be more excited to see what you have coming up based on your current set-up. Really really great looking home and what a smart set-up! I have build out a pool controller myself about 2 years ago and I am curious to see how yours compares/differs than mine. I was not willing to pay $1000(USD) for the name brand control panel, instead I spent about $100 and have all the same controls. It just took some thought and research and I could not be happier with it. Keep up the amazing videos, and thank you for your hard work to show us! Top items I am especially excited to see are: 1) Pool controller 2) Water collection set-up. We do not collect water here, but I was thinking about a way for me to build out some collection barrels that connect to an automatic sprinkler system. I would need them to monitor weather conditions, fill levels, and pump automation. 3) Your new motion/presence sensors. I have been looking at the Aqara one, but I have seen a lot of Tuya options out there for 1/3 the price. 4) That 6-scene button controller looks amazing, I would like to know what that is. Very classy, clean look.

Shaun appreciate the feedback and yep it feels good to be back ... Missed the community and yeah just getting started ... I did set it up in a way the family could also get along and control them with minimal or zero assistance plus they can also tell me whats working well and not working. Started to handover the Home control to my wife - shes gets the hang of it. So going thru the exercise of creating a playbook for the home using Notion which i intend to a video also .... 1. With the pool controller - I spent around 60 dollars thats the Sonoff 4CH pro as well as LED light controller thats tuya based. 2. The water collection was something that came mid way whilst we were constructing and i still need to install the sensors. However i do have a prototype using a plastic bucket. Well for 3 & 4 - yes i will be doing videos but still need to lock down 80% on our routines to use the sensors with scenes. At the same time - we are looking at implementing Grocy thats on top of our food inventory and automate a list on the current stock when we do monthly groceries ... So all in all - its a journey but at the sametime enjoying the much needed family time... Cheers

Looks like you are going to have lots of fun automating your new place. Beautiful home! Just wanted to let you know I’m in a similar new home environment with lots going on but my favorite is the Enphase HB plug in that reports out power production, Battery charge and whether the the public grid is available which provides virtual load center logic to cut back power and preserve batteries for the whole home. Need to think about what to call the system as when I ask for status of the solar system Siri gives me home stats sometimes and links to info on information in the sun other times!

Appreciate the feedback ... And yes from a distance - we do deserve a tap on the back ... Putting a smart home is one but adding in sustainability makes it more interesting and worth while as well. So far i am just reading data off the production but i found a python script that can automate devices based on the suns position as well detect the peak generation to turn on specific devices ... Still learning :)

Congrats on the new house; many blessings to you and your family. I am on the same path as you with Apple HomeKit as my Smart home of choice and using HomeBridge to bring in accessories not native to HomeKit. But I will eventually move to Home Assistant as well. Look forward to watching your journey with your new home!

Great to see you back Eddie. Congrats on the new place! Have seen many moving from Homebridge to Home Assistant. And I’ve been planning the same, but eager to see how you’ll do that. Have a new RPI 5 I plan to use but want to use Docker like I followed your version a year or more ago for homebridge.

Happy to see you again. Congrats on your new house. Looking forward to the automation of the pool pump. Here I'm trying to find out why the camera recordings are no longer appearing in the Home app. I'm using the onvif plugin on scrypted, is it still working normally for you?

Hey Carlos ... Appreciate the feedback and yes it still works for me. You have to check your network settings to enable ONVIF ... sometimes due to network rules - the protocol gets blocked. Cheers
