Crazy to me... she's paying for EVERYTHING, PLUS cooking & cleaning.. all while he walks around thinking he's a king, while he disrespects her... if you have to do EVERYTHING what's his purpose? Why do you need him? I would've taken me and my money and found another place to live ASAP. He needs you, you don't need him. Why is it these wives don't leave until they find out he's cheating? The disrespect alone should've been enough. The cheating is just the icing on the cake.

1) they dont act like this right away. it a step by step process that eases the victim in getting use to the treatment. 2) the wife usaly think they can talk this out or work on the other for the better. the spent so much time with someone who seemed nice that they cant fully see the monster in front of them. a mixture of rose-tinted classes and sunken cost fallacey. 3) it usaly takes something big to smuck them upside the head to wake up and realize their situation.

Oh I know it all too well. Married my husband 6 months after meeting when we were 24. Wildly in love. I never knew I could love another person (outside my parents, siblings, and nephews). I devoted my whole self to my husband.. moved away from my family and friends to live an hour away in his hometown, knowing no one but his friends and family. The first 2.5 years were amazing.. I couldn't have dreamed a better life. But, slowly but surely, he began to change. The superiority complex showed.. the "it's a wife's job to do this, this, this" "I make the most money, so I can do what I want, when I want". He wanted me to work, and I did, I loved having my career.. but then he wanted me to be home 24/7, too... that love started to fade.. i resented him and pulled away, then he pulled away... accusing each other of cheating (which he did), and blamed it on us "growing apart". Put up with that for 10 years.... I was surprised when he said he wanted to separate how easily and quickly I agreed. He didn't think I would agree. His pride kept him from saying he wanted to make it work.. not to mention his awful mother was too overbearing.. such a Momma's Boy, she was also a big part of it... and he always took for his precious mommy who couldn't keep a man herself because she was nuts. We've been separated and divorced going on 2 years, and I forgot how happy I could be without him. Being back in my hometown, my old stomping grounds, working my way up the ladder at my job, house-hunting, casually dating a really good man for the last few months.. life is really good now. I sometimes miss the man I loved when we first got married, but that man is gone, he never really existed, that man was only a role the real him played... good luck to his new gf, hope she can deal with his Dear Mother 😂

To that second half of your comment: What bothers me about these stories, is that it is always depicted as the Man being middle class. It's almost a near constant sting to the idea of a Nuclear Family and and lower class relationships. That or the Human Population has just gotten SO OVER INFLATED that saying, "It is a minority" doesn't mean anything anymore when that same Minority is roughly in the 100,000's (hundreds of thousands) of population size. Probably not there yet, we are probably still in the 10,000's (tens of thousands) but it still is a crappy deal knowing that Negative news spreads like wildfire while no one cares about the ones that make it.

Then the relationship is already dead in the water if the Man cannot say "I am taking you to X restaurant tonight for a good time, because i want to spoil you." Which IS domineering. Sometimes Both partners need to adopt a Domineering behavior in the relationship to get over hurdles and problems. Someone needs to take charge of a situation with dominance and force that the other submits and accepts. It highly depends on the situation. There are positive times when asserting your dominance is a good thing. edit: added more context.

She probably should have left him long ago but at least she got compensation out of this, there's also the knowledge that he realizes he fucked up but that was going to happen whether or not she left him now or earlier since she paid most if not all the bills. I hope the mistress got karma too, I want to imagine she tried to leave Arnold when issues started showing up like issues paying his cards & rent but at some point he tracked her down & begged for help. She doesn't want him since he can't care for her anymore but he won't stop bugging her possibly partly due to her being why he was forced to compensate his ex-wife. Eventually people that know the ex-mistress find out what she did so her reputation is going down hill, out of desperation she pays the rent or something off for him & finally kicks him out. He's upset but can't do anything since he's pushed everyone away with his behavior & harassing them to lend him money & shelter. Glad he's started to get humbled by this, he needs to reflect on what a piece of shit he is
