Hi Vince, I recently got my hands on the new MacBook Pro M4, and I’m still trying to figure out all its awesome features. One thing that’s got me a bit confused is this optimized battery charging thing. I turned it on and its not kicked in yet, the battery caches 100% all the time and I mostly use Microsoft Office, browse the web, and watch videos. I’m a student and new to Mac OS, so I’m not sure if I should leave it plugged in all the time or risk messing up the battery. Some people say to leave it plugged in, while others warn that it might shorten its life. I have an electricity source all the time in my hostel room, and I usually use it on battery during classes and when I’m out and about. So, my question is, should I leave it plugged in or not? Any advice you can give me would be awesome!

Leaving it plugged in does not harm ur battery. It actually saves u charging cycles. Normaler charging cycles are more harmful than having it connected all the time. Your Macbook will not use battery power when plugged in. And after some while it will recognize your usage pattern and keep your battery at only 80% when plugged in to protect ur battery even more,

I still suggest using Al Dente, it's an app that limits your charge percentage. It's more reliable than apple's native optimized charging imo, worth checking out.

The problem with the AI writing tools is that you can't trust it yet. So it still takes most of the same cognitive load to verify and re-read and possibly even re-word the generated content. You can't just say "AI assistant, reply to all emails, set up meetings when appropriate, reply what I would say given my work, and make up excuses as needed" which is the true north star of this tech IMHO.
