I just purchased my HTC EVO 4G. I waited and I made the best decision. It is all about prefference. I would suggest people do research and also test both devices. The 4g and unlimited data and huge screen size is what really did it for me.

I love how every time someone talks about iPhone 4 materials/finish being preferable to the Evo 4G they never mention how the iPhone's back glass will crack/spiderweb if dropped whereas the Evo will more likely chip/dent.

I have owned both phones and the only thing bad about the iPhone 4 is AT&T, I stuck with the Evo just because of the better rate plan from Sprint. They are both excellent phones.

Question about the speaker phone on both phones. I know on the iphone a lot of people will put the phone down on it's back while using the speaker phone function which obviously works great having the speaker on the bottom of the phone unobstructed. How does that work on the EVO with the speaker being on the back of the phone?

You forgot to mention custom folders for iOS4. KZbin - On the iphone: You can go directly to the site for HD videos on 3G. Also you can Rate, Comment or Flag videos from the app.

Very impressive video; definitely giving it a thumbs up. Despite the iPhone's appealing new UI, I'm going to go for the Evo on this one. Like the guy said; the iPhone 4 really isn't that different from the previous iPhone...and that's a problem for me. The Evo, on the other hand, actually stands toe-to-toe with the iPhone4, and looks as though as it has a lot more potential (especially for Google). Plus, Sprint's plans are amazing/affordable, and the service is a lot better compared to AT&T's.

The iPhone 4 seems to obviously be the superior device here. The most important thing about any phone is the user experience. The responsiveness of the iPhone 4 along with the great display gives it a huge upper hand. The EVO 4G looks nice from the right angle and a bigger screen might be preferred by some, but the responsiveness, especially when compared side by side to the iPhone 4, is far too laggy to be naturally enjoyable. With both phones selling at the same price, the choice is obvious.

Anyone else notice that the hdmi out feature was ignored on the evo? as for battery life its all about the settings. i can make my battery last for a day and a half +. also no custom roms for iphone

Brilliant review, exactly what i was looking for. I have seen the Galaxy S and the HTC Desire and i have had a trial with both devices, and they are fantastic. Brilliant pieces of kit. But only if you have never tried an iPhone before. If you have never bought anything from Apple, then you will fall in love with the android devices. But if you have already used ipads/iphones, then there really is no going back, the android just feel that slight bit inferior.

I debated between the iPhone and the Evo, for some reasons that were mentioned in the video. The iPhone has a superior display, photos and video. However, I got the Evo, because I didn't want to be tied down to iTunes, and using standard interfaces, such as the micro USB port and HDMI out, won me over. For the keyboard, check out Swype. For video chat, check out Tango. It works on both Android and iOS. Lastly, the touch buttons on the Evo won't power on your phone accidentally like the iPhone.

Since i don't have a HTC or a iphone i am curious if the HTC has the same radiation problems as the iphone. I believe the iphone has warnings to hold the phone no closer then say a inch from your face. As the apple has admitted to the iphone having i believe four times the legal radiation levels. I have a smartphone and would like to know if it is inherent to these phones

Ok, honestly its just personal opinion. If you got an iphone 4, you would obviously love it... If you got the Evo 4g, you would love it as well. Both are great phones its just a matter of which one you get. They both have great features, both have ups and downs, but seriously you cant judge anything until YOU have used it YOURSELF. I've never had a problem with Att connection. Also I find the iPhone to be simple to use with the unlock and the solid feel. People complain that it is to weak. Whoa!!!! Get a case. I've seen one just like the bumper case but it has a back that is clear so it looks nice.

1 of 2, I am an HTC EVO user and I am very please with the phone. As you can see in this video the differences guys neither phone a clear advantage. I originally wanted a iPhone. But not willing to change to AT&T. Don't get me wrong I love Apple products. My problem w/Apple is just like the Mac back in the 80s they have create a technlgy limited to their own H/W. Had Apple provided the iPhone O/S to other phone makers it would be the STD.

Why does everybody knock AT&T ? I have used them since the 80's and have loved every interaction with the people, service, etc.. I have a construction company and own many phones. We use and abuse all our phones. I dropped one in a mud puddle then it was ran over by a backhoe yet after leaving it in the sun for a few days it started to work again. AT&T has always given us good deals and freebees. The best part is I've lost count of all the times I lend my phone to others with no signal.

Good review! Personally, I wouldn't buy an iPhone because of Apple's analness about software, and that their hardware is perpetually a little behind the curve, but you have to admit it beats the EVO in battery life. Maybe they'll get that fixed up in subsequent versions. Overall, though I think the EVO would be a much better device than the iPhone.

I had the Iphone for about 8 days, great hardare and a good following of apps, but my main reason for returning it with in the Buys Remores time was that their data plan Sux balls and There no custozation, like custom Roms, boot up screens, Nand Back up. Plus I love the ability to be able to use Flash 10.1 and I down down load apps from the web with out going into a store.

I certainly appreciate the objective review of these two phones. I just don't understand when people on here feel the need to try to sway you in one direction or the other. Just state the facts and move on as you did here. It's a real shame that the evo doesn't have as smooth or as fast touch response as the Iphone or they could have really been a contender (that's just my opinion). But the quality for me is in things like touch and build of the phone.

my iPhone hasnt had any problems with battery, I use mine all day everyday. Nor have I had a problem with phone calls, and I get service deep in the mountains...but I think all the HTC phones are neat too, I just prefer iPhones

I dislike HTC but I gotta say that the reception issue on the iPhone 4 is rather hard to ignore. In theory the Evo would be better but with this demo, the iPhone seems better. I love my BB 9700 so either wouldn't matter to me.

@2kking4reel Because the antenna is on the outside of phone. If you have it in your left hand you can short out the antenna signal with the blue tooth strip of the antenna signal. Which drops bars and eventually the call.

I currently have the iphone 4,but i also had the evo 4g for about a year. IMO it comes down to what you like in a phone. They both do things the other cant but they both do similar things. The only problem i had with the evo is how it constantly would fuck up and i would have to pay 30 bucks to get a new one. I think they stopped making them now from so many problems. I dont think the evo is capable of doing what its made to do.

@jameslee522 thanks man...just read up on CMOS and can completely understand now why the evo 8mp camera can suck ass compared to apple's 5mp camera. Nonetheless, since the quality of the CMOS is much more important to the picture quality, wouldn't it be a good idea for camera companies to start marketing their products based on the "kick-ass" CMOS sensors that come in their devices? I, as a consumer, would like to know if my camera has a good CMOS to capture light and convert it to electrons.

@derbecher yet it does have to do with pixelation when you use digital zoom, which you have to use with cell cameras. An iphone's camera, at 3-5 mps, will be reduced to a crappy 1-1.6 mp at 3X zoom, whereas the 8 mp camera on the EVO and droid X will still be close to the iphone's original pixel count. Plus, as a photographer, you should know that you wouldn't use a cell phone fo

Im using the Evo's little brother (HTC Hero) It has the same exact user interface as the Evo. Im looking to switch for a bigger screen but I dont want or need a gigantic 4.3 inches...nor do I wanna pay an extra $10 a month for 4g. I think I might be going for the iphone4. Its has the perfect size and is just classier looking. I might miss custom ability but HTC Sense can get annoying. By the way: The reviewer is WRONG about plan pricing. Lowest iphone plan $59/month Lowest Evo plan $79/month
