Shoutout to Fahad Hai for correcting me on both the Magic Keyboard for iPad NOT using bluetooth, and not having it's own internal battery. I was wrong and will be much more careful in future videos about facts I share.

The Magic Keyboard does not use Bluetooth, it’s a hard connection using the Smart Connector. Also, it doesn’t “last a month” since it doesn’t have a battery and does not charge; it just uses the iPad’s battery to run while connected, and that’s why it won’t work when detached.
@freakytechreviews Жыл бұрын
Hi Fahad, you are correct and I was wrong in my video. I am going to pin a comment about it. I realize now that somehow I had pulled some facts from the Magic Keyboard that is NOT for the iPad. Thank you for correcting me!

I just upgraded to a Magic Keyboard from a Logitech Combo Touch. I thought the Combo Touch was the best of the best but now I’m convinced that the Magic Keyboard is the best option. The keys are excellent, having 2 ports available is awesome, and being able to just grab the tablet with ease is quite cool.
@freakytechreviews Жыл бұрын
Agreed! It's one of those things where you don't understand how worth it it is until you have one. But most people stay away because of the pricepoint.
@soculese Жыл бұрын
@@freakytechreviews Yeah, as with many apple products the price point is often tough to get past. That being said, if that is ones ONLY reason for choosing another product I totally understand. Heck….I made the same “mistake” for similar reason but it wasn’t; the only reason. I do like the Combo Touch having a bumper all the way around the product but using the iPad for handwriting is just not as pleasurable an experience with that thicker case around it. There is also no denying that the Magic Keyboard has a much higher build quality to it when sat side by side with the combo touch.

You can try the Smart Keyboard Folio. Yes, the typing experience is not like the one on the Magic Keyboard but it is actually turning your iPad into a super iPad instead of a MacBook. I personally don’t need a trackpad, because I just touch the screen, but every person has his own opinion. The Smart Keyboard Folio is way thinner and lighter and you can flip it and use it as a normal iPad. I think that is the best apple keyboard.. AND IT IS MAY CHEAPER✌️

I was late to the game on getting the Magic Keyboard for my 12.9” iPad Pro (2020), just got my Magic Keyboard in 2023 and wow, its definitely awesome.The price is steep, but I am happy with it and feel its well worth it! I am so have a 2021 MacBook Air which I also love, but for basic stuff I usually just use my ipad and Magic Keyboard.

While this is very expensive, the quality of life improvements are just that huge and I highly recommend it if you can afford it. It's not too bad on your lap and definitely top heavy but if I am sitting on the train it's fine. I have been using it for a few days and really love it.
@freakytechreviews Жыл бұрын
I completely agree! One of those products where you have to just trust the reviewer!
@herefobeer Жыл бұрын
If you can’t use it on your lap, your MX keyboard already has easy multi device support, so does your mouse. I can see some use for travel, but otherwise it is cheaper and better to get two Apple normal keyboards or one Logitech multi device one.

I was also late to this. I just got my first MK a few wks ago. I don’t think I could ever go to any other kind of keyboard case for my iPad or any future iPad purchase.My setup is an iPad Air 4 with the MK and my main computer is an iMac.

It’s definitely a slightly different feel so there was an adjustment period for me as well. Especially having big hands, I struggle with some of the perimeter keys being too small, but it’s grown on me like crazy and I love it now!
@HistoryNut-1701 Жыл бұрын
The keyboard doesn’t use Bluetooth. It uses the Smart Connector pins on the back of the iPad to connect to the keyboard, creating a wired physical connection. Also the keyboard is powered totally by the iPad. By itself, the keyboard has no power supply. The keyboard version for the 12.9” iPad Pro is a full size keyboard.

What I'm worried about is the material. Seems to be made of the same rubbery polyurethane stuff Apple used to make with the iPad smart cases from years before and with me living in a tropical country, the climate can get pretty humid. The case just starts fraying at the edges first then comes falling apart after around a year or less of use
@freakytechreviews Жыл бұрын
While I am in a humid part of Texas, it's not tropical so that's a valid concern. I haven't found any issues personally, but this iPad rarely sees the light of day and is inside so unfortunately I cannot attest to how it will hold up. I never had one of those cases specifically, but I know what you're talking about and I believe there are some similarities to material.

Hi! This case doesn't have bluetooth to connect to iPad. It is connected to the smart connector 3 pin system by Apple. It is always connected when attached. Also, How come you know that the keyboard's battery last 1 month on full charge?? Can you explain?
@freakytechreviews Жыл бұрын
Hi! So you mentioned two mistakes I made. I pinned a comment address both, but you are correct that the keyboard doesn’t use Bluetooth and instead uses the three pin system. Also, the keyboard has no internal battery life, as it is powered via the iPad itself. When preparing for this video, I somehow took some facts from the original Magic Keyboard when I was comparing the two, and wrote down the Bluetooth and internal battery from that keyboard, instead of this one for the iPad.
