Apple also charges at 7.5 you just need to update the battery pack. Plug it into a Mac computer for about 10 minutes and it will update by itself.
@chriswilcox8977 Жыл бұрын
People always miss that the Apple battery pack is treated way differently by the phone than 3rd party packs. Anker etc. get treated like mains connected charging, whereas the Apple battery is treated like a battery… Expensive as it may be, the Apple one is the technically sensible choice.

Just upgraded from the XS to a 13 Mini, so bought the 622 for when I'm out and about, and to trigger standby mode when I'm home. I'd originally got a battery bank more like Apple's own, but returned it in favour of this much more useful one. Thanks for the content.

I have the Apple MagSafe battery pack and absolutely love it. Doesn’t have the capacity. But the magic of it is to keep your phone at 90% the whole day. And it doesn’t get hot while doing so. Shame they pulled it off the market. But I am getting the Anker 633 just to try out anyways.

Exactly that! The true purpose of that battery pack is to help you keep your battery levels at optimal charge across the hours without heating and (hence) deteriorating your iPhone battery. If other producers would make such an accessory, they'll make you pay as much (or close enough).
@QuantaSolace Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I prefer the Apple one. In terms of the heat, the Apple pack is cooler vs Anker which can get quite hot. I’ve used the Anker chargers as hand warmers in the winter. 😅 I do use my 622 every now and then when I need it to watch something. The stand is a handy little feature.

sorry, but too many mistakes: 1. design - they are not the same, Anker is way bigger than Iphone 12/13 mini and Apple Powerbank suits way better with mini models 2. Apple powerbank can do 7.5w with the latest firmware upgrade 3. Apple powerbank doesn't require to be turned on like Anker 4. Apple powerbank stops charging after 90% (what helps to save iphones battery) yes, they are both peace of crap from daily usage wise

@3:14 - yep. Magsafe is great for desktop, bedside and in the car as a combination holder/charger. But to carry around, not so much. When I can get a "lipstick" sized battery that will charge the phone from zero to close to 100% one time for $10 and it weighs 1/2 of the magsafe power bank, it's a no brainer. Regarding the charging cords for the power bank, with the new iPhone 15 series, the USB-C becomes a positive, not a negative. However, I'm sure someone has already mentioned that in the comments.

Though wireless charging is indeed much less efficient than wired, in certain situations, I do think the benefits outweigh the cons. For me, when I travel for work, since I'm already carrying a substantial tech bag, yeah I'm going to want something wired with faster charging speeds and higher capacity. But for something that's going in my wife's purse for when she's out late and needs a source of power in an emergency situation (read "i forgot to charge my phone before I left, the bars are closing, my phone is almost dead, and I can't find my ride home"), wireless is perfect. It's small enough to where she will keep it in her purse, it's fool-proof (just slap it on the back, no need to carry an easy-to-lose cable), and is more convenient to use while it's charging than a wired bank (so she's more likely to actually use it before her phone is in the single-digits). So whether wired or wireless is better is really just subjective to the use case.
@buffuniballer Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have a $10 lipstick battery pack I drop in her purse, with a 0.5m cable. I swap it out about once a week to make sure she has a fresh one. I think I paid $20 for two of them on Amazon, and they have impressionist painting wraps to make them a stylish accessory. The Magsafe is great for bedside/desktop and we use Magsafe chargers in the car to hold and charge the phone. (Keeps her phone topped up as she wasn't keen on plugging it in. But putting it on the Hololock charger in the car works.

They are “about” the same size except if you have a standard or Pro model and the Anker hangs off the device like it was never ever intended to be used with these devices. These are the models that most need them!

I would like to toss some testing i did recently on this. i use my phone for vlogs and capturing footage. so that means I am recording 4k and have a shotgun mic plugged into the lightning port on the phone. I did two tests over an hour with both the apple and anker recording video with the rode mic plugged in. with the apple I went from 80% - 53% (twice i lost this much) anker went from 45% - 55% (twice i gained 10%) if you are doing things like recording for a long time or plan on using it for similar things, the Apple one wont cut it. I would assume it is because it is a smaller battery pack and runs out quicker.
@test-ml9wr Жыл бұрын
This is happening to you because of heat. The Apple pack stops charging when the heat gets too high to avoid damaging its own battery and your phones battery. Its a feature, not a bug.
@jollyrancherchick Жыл бұрын
@@test-ml9wr Not true. Whether you're using the Apple battery or Anker battery, if your phone gets to hot, a popup saying that charging will continue when the phone cools down will appear. It's not specific to the Apple battery.

quick note for anyone, a magsafe case is not a must. I've run my phone naked for years with these magsafe batteries, works fine and stays on in my pockets/hands/sling. Also, everything is usbC so the logic in this video is flawed, you want a usbC power pack so you DON'T have to carry the extra useless cable that is lightning. I personally never use a lightning cable ever.

Hugely disagree. You are comparing 2 different products. The Apple MagSafe battery pack is so misunderstood. It’s not a battery charger it’s a battery extender. You dont slap on the MagSafe battery pack when your battery is at 10%. If you do that you will be doing it wrong and it wont do the job. This is how you use the MagSafe battery pack. If you know that today you will be having a crazy day,you will be using your phone way more than usual and you will return home late or something. You slap the MagSafe battery pack in the morning right after charging your phone to a 100%. You set it to not charge your phone beyond 90%. It will charge your phone and keep it at around the 90% range. It wont heat up like your MagSafe chargers which is good for your battery health. It will do this whole day and it will be drained let say by 6pm but at that time you will still have 90% battery on your phone. Thats how it’s used.
@justacollegestudent5147 Жыл бұрын
While you may be right this is still a very legitimate use case and how many people will or at least intend to use this product. I’m sorry I don’t want a big hunking battery all the time on my phone. Yeah I can see throwing this on during a concert or event and letting it keep the battery topped up but using this as an extension to the internal battery isn’t very practical for a lot of people. The extra weight and size it’s not comfortable to use it’s shaped weird. I didn’t spend 1,000 on a phone and $100 to get a low capacity battery that can’t even charge my phone half way and makes using it unpleasant. Some of the features could have been cool and to some it will be but I cannot in good faith reccomend this to anybody at the price. If it was like $20-30 maybe to some select users as a useful kinda janky workaround but it’s like what $80-100. The Anker at least is useful and cheaper and barely any bigger. This is one of the worst products I’ve seen from Apple the benefits really are you can flex the Apple name brand for pretentious people that buy into brand loyalty
@sechabamolefe7070 Жыл бұрын
@@justacollegestudent5147 I understand how you feel about it. You are entitled to your own opinion. All I was trying to do is to explain the right use case for the Apple Magsafe battery pack. If you can see reviews from people reputable like Technically Tee and others you will see that they recommend it. If you use it right its the best. If you use it as a battery charger you will hate it. Use it as an extender you will love it. It stays cool all the time. Heat is your battery’s worst enemy.
