Great instruction and nice work. My problem is the orange light always comes on after a few seconds green...the plug seems fine and always sits in the same place at home, ie - never moved...?

hi P S. Thanks for the complement! When you connect a magsafe charger to the macbook, the green light comes on first. This shows that the charger is good and there is good contact. If the green light stays on, then your macbook is fully charged. However, if your macbook is not fully charged, the orange light comes on -to show that the macbook is being charged. As you point out, this takes a few seconds, i.e.transition from green to orange. On full charge, the colour changes again from orange to green!

My mag safe works fine but the issue I have is the mounting the metal as magnet to hold the cable. what do I use to make it hold apart from just squeezing it with a playus?

hi. Apply some super glue around the metal before replacing (remove any previous glue from the metal) .Then squeeze tightly with pliers and allow to set for like 20 minutes. The result is great!

the positive and the negative wires are identified using their colour. The positive wire is insulated in white while the negative is bare/black.

The positive wire is the white one also known as V out. The negative wire (V return or ground) is the bare wire (not insulated), can also be insulated in black. Hope this helps!

hi Vikram, I'm not sure what you mean by earthing. The charger cable has 2 wires in it: the V-out and the V-return (ground).
