So the phone has built in apple pay yet people still want to attach there cards (poorly) to the back of the phone. Then when you lose your phone you can also lose the cards as well. Add to that in order to get cards out you have to detach the wallet to remove a card so Why not just carry a wallet? Same space taken up but less likely to lose all at once. I just don't get it.

Great review man! Actually feels like the most genuine and well thought out review for these to date. Most other reviews seemed to just try and jump on the “knock it” train and not actually do any practical realistic testing. I have both the 12 Pro and the Wallet in order and will definitely keep the wallet order in place after watching this. 👍🏻👍🏻

When the product requires the users to change how they perform an action as simple as putting a phone in the pocket... That just screams bad design. It's not even that hard of a fix either. Just put stronger magnets on the wallet. This is nothing even anything new. Plenty of third party accessories have had magnetic wallets on there and none of them had this problem. For example, MagBak, Mous...

Stronger magnets = demagnetized, non-functional credit cards. Stronger magnets = harder to take the wallet off and take your cards out. I'm happy Apple put the onus on users to know how to use pockets. If you're too dumb to use pockets properly, then you probably shouldn't buy this accessory.

@@ab185 You're talking as if the magnet strength is right on the boundary of demagnetizing the strips in the card. These wallets already have shields on the back of it to rectify this. For argument sake let's say your assumption is indeed valid, how then are other third party cases able to come up with this compromise? I have been using a mous wallet case and I don't have this problem. I am advocating for a stronger magnet so that it lessens the chance of incidental/unintended separation. I am not saying to make it so strong so it becomes unusable. And again, I know this margin exists because similar product already exists and I have been using it. How else is one supposed to deposit and retrieve items from their pockets? Telling me this product is without fault and can only be deemed so because "I am incapable of using the pocket correctly" is like Steve Jobs telling customers that they are holding their iphone 4 wrong when they complain about a loss of signal during phone call. Is that your philosophy of a good design? That you have to change something as small as how you put things in your pocket to accommodate something that was supposed to bring you convenience? People like you is why apple can get away with shit like this. And when they eventually address it and make how the product was supposed to perform in the first place in the next iteration they can chuck it up to "new and improved".

This is a very GOOD & detailed demonstration of this MagSafe wallet!! At the same time this is a very POOR designed by apple. I prefer watching your 'fashion show' rather than the product itself. It's just WOW! 😮😉

I believe the main thing preventing the wallet from sliding off is mechanical friction. The magnetic force is strong when pulling away, but not sideways. That's probably why the silicone case helps the wallet stay in place. I could also be interesting to test whether the frosted glass of the pro is more slippery (against leather) than the glossy finish of the 12.

The wallet works best on a bare iPhone 12 and 13 because of the rear glass. The pro versions having a frosted slippery back is a bad idea. I have found better luck with the leather cases, but still sucks. Best way, but risky is careless on the regular iPhones as it sticks pretty good.

Did you just pair a Pacific Blue t-shirt with a Plum pair of khaki's?! I wondered what a Pac Blue iPhone would look like with the Plum Silicone Case! 😜 At first I was skeptical about the wallet after seeing videos and reports the magnets weren't strong, but yes, I think you figure out how to ensure the wallet stays with the phone. I have a Bellroy slim wallet, and am looking forward to further reducing the number of cards to just get to the MagSafe Wallet. Hopefully someday soon Apple gets permission to use Driver's License/ID's electronically so we can further reduce cards!

I feel like the Apple logo should have been a cutout in the shape of an Apple logo to easily slide the card out. Having to remove it seems like extra steps and a little clumsy. Your phone ends up in one hand, trying to slide the card out in another, then having to use the card so you have to put the phone in your pocket or down. In most cases, people are handling their cards themselves. It's not like we're going to push it out like a stick of gum to give to most people. I was never a fan of wallets cases, but I really wanted this one because the concept just seems fun and fashionable to mix and match with cases. Poorly executed in my opinion. Same with their whole charging mess too. But I use and have been using a wireless charger for some time so no issues personally, but for the sake of tech and others, I would expect better from Apple.

If they would have done this, the force of trying to slide the cards out while it is still magnetized to your phone would just slide the entire wallet off. That’s why the design has the cutout on the back side.
