Apple Motion: Floor Glows Tutorial

Based on an old idea for After Effects by Andrew Kramer, this interesting look involves a number of Motion techniques that are useful to know about.

I appreciate that the content layer is 2D and as such making it 3D stops the mask. Is there any way to separate the items in the content layer in Z space such that the text can be sitting "in front" of the other objects? (such that the camera rotation shows the separation / parallax)

Hi Simon! Thanks for bringing Motion back into my consciousness. For some reason the Mask Rectangle does not show in the layers menu. Do you know why that is?

Thank you for this. I am a novice at Motion and am trying to recreate this. I have followed step by step and ensured I have exactly the same settings as you are going through but I am not getting the same results as you. For example, I have created the rectangular mask as per your instruction at about 4:48 but I am not seeing it hiding the lower potion of the symbols. I have been through this over and over again to see what I have overlooked but cannot see anything different to what you have done. Can you give me any indication as to what I might have overlooked. Hi Simon, I'm wondering why my screen layout different to your's. Is there a standard/default toolbar layout that I can reset to? believe my version is up-to-date, but my icons/toolbars are not the same layout as yours.

Perhaps you have the Cinema Layout turned on? Windows - Window Layout - Classic/Cinema?
