Not only young artists but also experienced artists… Ask any senior artist and they’ll basically tell you they have a massive pureref board with hundreds if not thousands of images. while you can understand basic forms, you still can’t trust in your memory to actually remember them 1:1

Lately, I have been worrying about my journey as an artist in the modern landscape. I adore Blender, but have been working to improve my skills in other spheres of art. Yet I cannot help but feel the fear that I will be behind or that I am inadequate. To hear that you, an incredibly talented 3D artist took a hiatus from the medium you fell in love with is comforting, even if it was for something mandatory by your government. Everyone's journey is different, and it is always reassuring to hear that, because the internet gives an illusion of constant progress and focus, and that is not always the most efficient route. Thank you for this video, it was superbly encouraging and makes me feel okay in my journey as an artist :)

Drills mentioned in the video: #1 Turn a cube into a sphere #2 Turn a bean into a rock. #3 360 view your forms, regarding contours and silhouettes Any other drills / daily drills you recommend? Also, how do you feel about doing the doughnut tutorial a hundred times in a row?
@tinynocky6 ай бұрын
@@phredbookley183 #2 is to explore organic shapes such as a stylised rock or a bean, not turning a bean into a rock. I don't have any other specific drills to recommend atm, these were catered to the problems I encountered while sculpting heads Stylised rocks = wanted to explore stylised plane changes of the face and practice using the Scrape brush Bean = silhouette of Chibi heads I've done some random exercises that I sadly can't recall, but the bottom line is to focus on executing clean forms it's also good to observe the workflow of the pros and intergrate them into your own doing the doughnut tutorial a 100x is definitely overkill. as soon as you're familiarised enough to navigate around, start working on smaller projects and problem solve along the way!
