The magic of a simple solution. An effect that looks pretty complicated but which is surprisingly easy to achieve and I think you'll love finding out the secret of it.
(Text, lighting, camera, filters, replicators, clones)
Because this is a bit fiddly in terms of getting the numbers right, I am (unusually) giving you a link to my completed project (which has some extra refinements): drive.google.c...

As usual the finished project looks simple and maybe the making of looks equally simple , but it takes the brains of a creator like you simon to join it all together in a wonderful visual

Nice one, I enjoyed the addition of the music too. One of the (numerous) things I enjoy about your tutorials is watching you work around problems as they arise. I am still a newbie with all this. Like the saying whats the difference in a craftsman and and apprentice? The craftsman knows how to fix his/the mistakes and work around the roadblocks, the apprentice doesn't. Another one added to my to-do-list as thats where the subtleties are revealed. . Thank you!

Thank you very much. You are far too kind! I just blunder through and sometimes come out the other side in one piece, but that's about the extent of it ...

Tremendously cool! Your tutorials' intersection between outward complexity & inner simplicity is an absolute pleasure to watch. I can't believe you made this with Slit Scan haha

Very impressive. I admittedly don't ever find much use for your final results since they often don't fit my style, but the real value is the tricks you used to get there and expanding my familiarity with what is possible and how I can apply them in my own way. I think a lot of people are just looking for those follow and copy tutorials and not realizing the true value your wide range of clever tutorials provide.

I thought I commented to share I did the tutorial (but I don't see it). I ended up using American Captain font as no letters go below the baseline and I had a C and O in the words I used and so it seemed that going below the baseline with those rounded edges may have influenced the slit scan effect (negatively IMO) whereas with American Captain Font no letters go below and I got a smoother end look. Again thank you Simon for the tutorial!!!!

Simon you certainly know what you are doing, I just love it. Thanks!. I wish I could start with a need and end up with how to create it. Have you created some kind of walkthrough of the tools in Motion or just how to see what to select to create a specific result?

Quite the style of German Expressionism! Very creative. Thanks for your great demo. I bet this technique would create a nice title sequence for METROPOLIS if one could add some evolving cityscape behind it.

I love German Expressionism more than any other style so I am so pleased that you picked up the echoes that I myself hadn't even noticed! My favourite ever project was a film company logo where I built a vast Metropolis-type city to fly through - the demo secured the contract, and then they chose something really boring instead. Oh well.

Unfortunately the concept relies on a filter that Motion has but Fusion does not ... and I'm not even sure how one would go about replicating it. But I will give it some thought.
