Either way, I'd be over the moon for either of those gifts. I don't wear a lot of lipstick is the only thing I'd tell her. Funding a pair of good hiking boots (about $100-150) would be fine for a birthday gift along with a nice dinner.😅 I'm a cheap date as a in-law if they wanted to do something nice.

If somebody had gifted me something that was $1,000, I'd cry and thank them profusely for their gift. That is a lot of money to spend on a gift. Even if the gift was $100, I'd be grateful for it. My baby sister got me a present with her allowance that she saved for $10 and I was grateful. She got me a bunch of dinosaur toys that she got from the dollar store. They are currently on my bookcases because I love dinosaurs.

People complaining about a $500 lipstick. As ludiciorous as this story is, there are in fact VERY expensive lipsticks that go that high and beyond. The most expensive lipstick in the world is the H. Couture Beauty Diamond lipstick, worth around $14 million USD. And that's because the actual lipstick itself contains 110g of pure 18k gold and the lipstick tube is studded with 2,500 blue and 1,200 pink diamonds and allowed custom engraving or even a short message. Personally i don't see the appeal in that expensive a lipstick unless it's some kind of philosopher's stone and can make me immortal.
