I don’t know where the story comes from, but as soon as she took off and left her son, she should’ve been reported to CPS if this happened in the United States. She abandon her child it doesn’t matter that the aunts and grandparents were there. She still abandoned her son. This way, if that was done when she came back for him all you had to say was CPS knows you abandon your son and you’re definitely not getting him back. You have to talk to them.
