Charlotte started thriving because the toxicity was removed her life... good things happen when you remove toxic negative people from your life...

Evidently whoever wrote this story does not know what an exchange student is.

Her comments would have resulted in me thanking her for coming over and then forcibly showing her the door.

Envy Lily's Jealously towards her own daughter for going to England for her studies

Not everyone needs nice, flashy things to show they aren't poor

Op is a pushover. Imagine letting the stupid sil force you to buy a new house so the cousins can play with each other.

I bet Lily is pissed that Charlotte is thriving all the way in another country. Charlotte is getting all the love and encouragement instead of the toxic economic status crap her mom was dishing out.

She’s hopeful with that last part of saying they could be in contact at some point. If I was Charlotte I wouldn’t

Ha! Nearly every house in the UK is 50 years or more old. Our house is 80 yo and is nothing special x

Indeed so. My house is just under 70 years old and is basically new. As you say, an 80, or even 100 year old house is nothing special. There are a great many Victorian houses around which are in excellent condition and much sought after.

Haha, our "50 year old house on a hill" is worth $1.1mil. Mid century modern, and all that.

A fifty year old house is a sign of being poor? There are hundred year old houses that are worth millions of dollars. Houses were built different back then and were designed to last. Most of the cookie-cutter McMansions built these days will be lucky to last twenty years. It just goes to show how ignorant Lily was about pretty much everything and that she wouldn't know actual high status wealth if it bit her in the behind. Glad Charlotte got the support of people who actually loved her. Joe was great!

Where her SIL lives, what kind of house she lives in and why, is really none of Lily's business! She would really have something to say about my house since it's over 100 years old.

So they only work, her son is most by his grandmother and in their own house they have 2 beds and the rest is empty?

I dont think they're just going to find a private school on the doorstep in London.

Sad that Lily didn't learn that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Charlotte needs to be taken from Lily before it's too late
