Yeah, if it wasnt for the fact that if you use apple pencil and apple notes, the battery drain is bigger than that of app like Goodnotes, and for sure the ipad starts getting hot. I have seen that I’m not for sure the only one, and it’s very sad because I would like to use more apple notes with the pencil

The biggest issue I have with apple notes is tge lack of page breaks. This makes it difficult for exports. There is so much that is good about Apple Notes but this lack of page break makes it unworkable for what I need.

Yes, that's something I can 100% agree on. The lack of page breaks makes exports really difficult. I just hope this will be corrected in an update 🙌

For me, the biggest issue is the lack of a "code block" function, markdown language and a rollback function in case you do something wrong with your notes.

I am an avid Notes and Pages user, but for spreadsheets I am using Google Sheets. It is much more powerfull and at the same time, easier to use. In Sheets, all functions are intuitive , not so in Numers, to my disappointment. I expect a lot tutorial videos are avalable for Google Sheets. Try it out!

The biggest issue I am currently facing is that it gets heated up very easily. Especially if my notes are long. I don't think this app is good for a university student? I love the features but half the time it doesn't even show my notes. Takes a long time to load too, especially the long ones. What's the point of having unlimited pages, when it can't handle us using it? I ll have to start looking for a new app now. 😔

Hi there, Apple Notes is pretty limited when it comes to personalization. You can easily change the Note to a lines or grids background but that's pretty much it. You can do that by tapping on the menu button at the top right of the screen, and then "Lines & Grids"

Its really limited … I was forced to switch to another app (goodnotes) … I really like apple notes, but after I was on 5-6th page line started to lag (handwritng) … and as I red from internet articles … it was not just my problem

Apple Notes is nearly perfect. Inside Notes it would be usefull to have highlighting of text (I can already do this with handwriting) and a 'backlinks overview' (Oh yes, and Dutch handwriting recognition). What I realy really miss is a way to import webpages and emails into Apple Notes without creating a PDF of them first (mail or web) or using Bear as an intermediary (web).

It’s good for quick notes here and there I guess, but I was once writing down important notes for a biology final on apple notes and then my iPad Pro started heating up and crashed. I lost all my data and from that day on I stopped using it. I contacted apple support and they told me to update it and that did not change the heat and battery issue. Major disappointment after all the great experiences Ive had with apple.

iPad gets uncomfortably warm if the handwritten notes gets long and if iCloud sync is turned on parts of the handwritten notes randomly disappears with no way of recovery.

Linking to files is o/c problamatic, as a file on Your Mac will probably not be available on your iPad/iPhone.. I linke to a file on iCloud Drive, I could image, though…

This guy is impressed by features things like Bear, Obsidian and Evernote have had for YEARS. Create a link to a note! Wow! Such innovation from Apple. No backlinks, of course. Maybe Apple will realise that in another 8-10 years. And then I saw he stores passwords in his Notes app. People, someone who stores passwords in their notes app is not anyone you want computer or tech advice from. It's basically the first item on the password's "Don't Do This" list. Get a proper password manager, like Bitwarden and a proper notes app like Bear or Obsidian. And then realise, as you are doing it, that Apple don't have a single app they made that is actually the best in its category.

Notes still sux. Cant hand write a note unless it’s in iCloud. And counterintuitive in that I tried to hand write a note and it converted it to text. I’m using Apple Pencil 2 on iPad Pro 12.9 M1. I’ll stick with notability.

After 6 months of learning and using Notion daily, I can say that Notion is awesome but it does have a learning curve, it needs constant maintenance, and half of the time spent in Notion is just making it work the way I want it to work. It is a good and bad thing because I can make it just the way I want, but it takes time. Plus no offline mode is really a deal breaker. Apple Notes has 10% of the features Notion has, but it is nice how it works with all the Apple ecosystem.

Yeah. Crayon function. Big whoop. The note interlinking is very poorly implemented. No backlinks, either. You cant link the note to a calendar event. You can't nest tags. If you create or add to a Note by sharing something from another app "#tag" won't be recognized as a tag. You have to go back into the app and do it manually. When you're in Notes or adding something to it from another app, you have to dig through the keyboard menus to find the "#" symbol. Bear solves ALL of these problems. How is it that Apple are so well known for their "design" and they produce such dreadful designs? Look at Reminders on the Mac. It does NOTHING properly. Not tags, not nesting, not sharing. For some reason, you can only add an image attachment. Why the hell? why not a pdf? You can't link to a task or a project and put that link in your notes. It's ability to intelligently predict dates is dreadful. If you type "Go to town next Tuesday", it might understand "next Tuesday" and suggest the date but without confidence: you have to confirm it by pressing two more buttons. Todoist doesn't need that. And then, the phrase "next Tuesday" remains in the task title in Reminders. Why? And look at Reminders on Mac. It's uglier than sin. White on yellow? Headache Green? Really? And look at the at font. It's like a child did it. And, of course, the fonts and colours from Notes, Reminders and Calendars don't match. It doesn't even LOOK like teams that worked on these apps had a single meeting together. It's all so second rate. Look at their new app, Journal: it's Notes without tags or folders or even a SEARCH function. Why not just give Notes the ability to add locations (why doesn't it have that already, by the way?) and then be done with it. Apple don't have a single native app that is the best in its category. Music suggestions in Music are dreadful compared to Spotify. And they are still only promising collaborative playlists. And, of course, none of Apple's apps have good export features, so if you're already in their disfunctional, ugly ecosystem, good luck going somewhere better. For a company with Apple's reputation, their out-of-the-box apps are DREADFUL. And then there's Siri, who was an absolute idiot 5 years ago and there has been no improvement. "I can show you if you ask again from your iPhone" is a HomePod's way of saying "you bought this HomePod but it's useless, go and ask your phone".
