I have made apple pie moonshine for more years than I can remember...lol...my recipe is different but this version sounds good. I used to use real moonshine years ago. Could get the real stuff in Kentucky but in Texas now so use everclear. You should sterilize the jars and lids and wipe the mouth of jar with white vinegar before putting on the lid. I store mine a cool dry shelf. (It is said to remove the rings but I never have and have had no problem) I never refrigerated even after opening. The longest I have kept it was a year on the shelf unopened...it actually tasted the best then. I wait at least 2 weeks to drink it. Also, when serving.... put honey around the rim and dip into brown sugar (like a margarita) oh my gosh...soooooo good. I do the same with my peach moonshine.

Sorry, but that's a cheaters recipe... Try mine, the real deal.. I start with a 5 gallon bucket of fresh picked apples, run them through my spiral slicer/peeler machine, then cut the spirals into quarters so they fit in a blender. I boil up 1/2 gallon water with 2 cups sugar, and 2 tablespoons of apple pie seasoning mix. I pour 1 cup of the boiling sugar water blend and 1 cup cold water together into blender and fill with apples, and blend into apple sauce. I make enough apple sauce to fill 5 gallon fermenter bucket 2/3 full, then top off with water and pitch yeast. Let fully ferment, rack it twice, then clear it with dual fine, cold crash it, then save a quart cups to the side, and run the rest through the still. Take the quart of wine and add 1/2 cup sugar, then add the sweetened wine to your mixed still cuts to preferred taste and final proof, then put it in a jar with 2 ounce rum barrel chips, 2 ounces of apple wood smoking chips, and char 2 ounces apple wood chips in oven and add to aging jars. Shake like the jars like crazy every time you walk by them for 2 weeks. After two weeks, filter it through re-usable nylon screen coffee filter, then filter through paper coffee filter. Add 0.5 to 1 ounce glycerine as to preference to smoothness & thickness less to keep it thin, more to thicken like schnapps, to final product, and shake and let age a few days more, and presto, TRUE apple whiskey, from apple mash, to aged with apple wood.

Having come from a long line of shiners....going back over 150 years that I know of...and having had family make shine in my lifetime....I am happy moonshine seems to be so popular these days. BUT this recipe shouldnt be called moonshine. It has zero moonshine. And Everclear? Seems everyone thinks that trash is the closest approximation they can find to real shine. Having partaken of each I can tell you that real shine is much smoother and better. Equating Everclear with moonshine is like comparing Boones Farm to Screaming Eagle Cabernet. The only thing they have in common is that theyre alcohol. There are much better quatiy alcohol to substitute for shine. Dont use Everclear. And why not call it what it is? A copycat recipe or even a "salute to" etc? If you like this recipe youd love my Cherry Pie version. The fact yours goes bad so fast is due to the quality of the alcohol youre using.

I need advice. I made this with (2) 175ml bottles of grain at 190 proof, (1) .75ml of smirnoff whipped cream, and 2 cups of that very spiced rum. Holy crap this batch smells soooo strong. I used 1 gal of apple cider, 1 gal of apple juice, 15 cinnamon sticks, and slices of apples, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie seasoning, and boiled then simmered it. Then added the alcohol after cooled. So....if this just has too much bite for my liking....can I add in another gal of apple cider without boiling? Will it be ok to do? This is my first time and I think I added alot of grain and maybe that's why it's sooo strong smelling? Please please respond!

Did you add the sugars?? If you did just add more cider it will be ok. Also, the more it sits ( steaps) the smoother it will get as flavors incorporate. If you didn't add the sugars, add sugars to more cider and boil just the cider and sugar to dissolve....cool and add to batch of moonshine. You should be good!!! Thanks for watching and trying!!!

@@MrFredenza yes! I did add the sugars (sorry I forgot to mention that). I even threw apples in before boiling with the sticks. Ill add in a fresh unboiled apple slice to each jar along with a piece of stick and seal the jars. I'm thrilled you responded so fast! I was worried I wouldn't be able to knock the kick down because I sure added alot of the grain at such a high content. It's good to know I can just add in another gal of cider now. I know the boiling is mainly for the sugar to dissolve and have it all blend together. I sure hope everyone falls in love with this. I appreciated your video (even though I added extra) and I'm def subscribing.

Add the cider....put in the refrigerator for a few days and let it sit. It will definitely smooth out. Shake well before use as there is a lot of alcohol. Let me know how it turns out!!!

@@MrFredenza i added another gallon of cider and decided to taste test it. Holy crap! Its like pouring reg alcohol into your mouth. It's soooo strong. I'm about to go get more apple juice and more cider. That (2) 1.75L bottles of Everclear (grain) at 190 proof which is crazy powerful. Plus I added .75 L of Smirnoff whipped cream 80 proof, and 2 cups of the spiced rum. So... that's alot of alcohol for 1 gal of cider and 1 gal of apple juice. Even adding an extra gal of cider....Holy cow its like your mouth is on fire! What should I do? Add another gal of cider and another gal of apple and then deal with it? Lol
