The drive doesn't "flop around", if you use the buffer screws stowed in the plastic by the bay... for the top slot, you have to offer the drive with the buffers installed to the midline rails, which lift the back of the drive, then locate the second pair into to top rails. Got a dead G5, as I understand it, just the disk was removed, but nothing at all happens. knowing a bit more about where things are, I guess reseating the connectors might bring results - don't really want to go full Tech Yes cleanse on it... got it as part of a bundle and the retro and not so retro PC parts were the highlight for me. I'll spin it up if I can, but it may cost me membership of the PCMR (and to be honest, the current Intel Macs are just proprietary PCs running a different OS)

Very nice G5, what are the specs? I hope you get it working, and I'm looking forward to part 2. SATA III SSDs are problematic in the Power Mac G5. I could not get my Power Mac G5 to recognize a SanDisk SATA III SSD I wanted to put in.

Absolutely, the card need to be powerpc compatible or you can flash one with a ppc bios (check ‘themacelite’ wiki

20:43 there are 4 screws in that gray plastic thing next to the hard drive bay, those are ment to screw in to the hard drive so the hard drive will slide into 1 of those 2 slots dude :p
