Interesting take for sure. To your point about integration of the services, I wonder what the future of all of the coaches would be on Fitness+? Apple has certainly invested in some quality coaches on Fitness+. I used Fitness+ before jumping on the Peloton train and I liked quite a few of the coaches. Maybe there could be an option to keep some of them on board as it would be a shame to let them all go.

I prefer Peloton to Apple Fitness anyway. Apple has pretty good workouts but most of their presenters seem like their hosting a show on Nickelodeon. Their constant faux sign language schtick drives me crazy. If Apple can enhance Peloton's already good integration with Apple Watch, TV, etc. I'm smitten.

that sign language nonsense drives me batty!

I wouldn’t pay any notice to this until I knew what the investment companies financial position was on each company, as just this news, without doing anything, would drive up the stock price of Peloton.

I love Peloton Iv been a member since the early days it’s been sad to see it spin out of the control in the way it did. I also love Apple and so I could be on board with this. Interesting times.

I've said Apple needs to do this for a while. They are really growing their health portion of their business and it makes sense to buy Peloton and roll it into Apple Fitness. I'm curious if they would keep the name or do some cobranding like Apple Fitness x Peloton. The watch integration is good but I have a constant bug where I have to reset by "detect workout equipment" on my watch for it to detect. If they could clean it up and YES bring down the subscription cost this would be a big win for Peloton owners out there. I'm not sure I can see them getting rid of the screen as I feel the integration is expected and anything else seems "cheap" when it's not there...but maybe I'm wrong. I've been mulling getting a Row and one of the prime things that scares me is the thought of any of these companies going belly up and having a paperweight of a machine.

If Apple wants to expand their fitness reach with equipment, they need to dump the idea of scooping up Peloton, and instead going after iFIT/NordicTrak. They're the innovators within the market, but the Wattersons (owning family) have been damaging the brand as of late. I'd love to see Peloton try to bully Apple/iFit in court. Seriously, this would be the smart move.

Coming from an iPhone, Watch & MacBook owner, I hope this falls into the 20% wrong arena. Peleton experience will change (if sold to any company), but selling to Apple will become the new every two experience that we don't need a bike. That said, Apple is a lesser buyer evil for me.

Hoping they don't leave Android users behind. I love using my Pixel Watch 2 with my Tread and Bike+ and just upgraded to the Pixel 8 Pro. Don't care much for Apple iOS.

It makes sense on one level, since Apple really is in the hardware space anyway. The short term down side for them is that post covid, these things are a dime a dozen used right now and have lost much of their value (not that most used exercise equipment retains value all that well anyway). The other complicating issue is they are already fairly pricey and this is an ultra competitive space at the moment with dozens of makers now making smart trainers. Will be interesting to see what they do with it if it happens.

I’m okay with Apple buying them. I like what they’ve done with Beats and you can see the lessons learned within their other products through that acquisition. I just hope they keep the talent and the cursing. 🙃

I think it will be good for the users, I was apple fitness member, after I got Peloton, I quit apple fitness, which I still miss the apple fitness instructors. So I am actually happy with this.

This was a very interesting video. By the end of it, I agree that Apple acquiring Peloton makes sense and would be a good idea! Tangentially related, I know Apple recently partnered with Anytime Fitness on Dec 1 2023, the most popular gym franchise in the world with over 5,000 gyms globally. My understanding of the partnership is that all Anytime Fitness members will get access to Apple’s online streaming service Apple Fitness+ as part of their memberships, and existing Apple Fitness+ members will be incentivized to become AnyTime Fitness members. I presume the execs at Anytime Fitness wouldn't be too thrilled about this acquisition. Pelotons and other at home pieces of exercise equipment are generally perceived as direct competitors to gyms, rather than as a synergy. However, maybe there is a potential synergy between Peloton and Anytime Fitness I'm not seeing. Thanks for the video!

I don’t want it. My expense for AF+ is negligible since I get it with my Apple One account. Sure, there’s many ways it could be better, but I don’t expect a hundred new classes a week given the low cost. There’s almost no way they can continue to bundle it if they want to add all these trainers and classes. Basically it would kill having a low-cost home fitness service.

I service Peloton bikes for 5 yrs and other Indoor Cycling brand bikes for over 20yrs. I would bet $1000 that Apple would NEVER take ownership of Peloton. Why? 1. The Pelton bike is of mediocre product quality. The bike is plagued with many problematic technical and mechanical issues. frustrated 3. The Peloton bike features a non optimal heavy drag drive train/belt drive and less than optimal design minimal perimeter weighted flywheel. The feel of the bike when pedaling does NOT feel like a bicycle. Spinning brand created Indoor Cycling through creating an experience where the Spinner bike felt like a bicycle. The Peloton feels like you are dragging an anchor when riding. Conclusion: its highly unlikely that Apple will acquire Peloton.

Apple will NOT buy Peloton. This is nonsense. Peloton is a waste of time, as are spinning sessions at the gym - pointless exercise without any training benefit. Peloton is a bad business model (tied to a limited obsolete hardware device).
@pseuperfly9 ай бұрын
Any exercise that can double or triple your resting heart rate is factually not 'pointless', but hey, enjoy your totally incorrect opinion.

Yes Apple will not acquire Peloton. The Peloton bike is a mediocre product. Re: value of doing indoor-cycling (spinning) for fitness; your thoughts dont translate to ALL other people who enjoy and benefit the Indoor-cycling experience.

Why does Apple need to grow Apple Fitness faster? It may be inferior to Peloton, but it's still growing at a good clip. They could just wait it out and poach Peloton instructors/producers for much less than it would cost to buy Peloton (and its debt). The only reason I can see for Apple wanting to buy Peloton, is if they believed Peloton was due to rebound quickly in 2024. That would cause their Apple Fitness growth to slow and potentially increase churn. It would also significantly increase the cost of courting Peloton's content producers.
