Over half a century ago, my oldest brother (20 years older) married his wife. A few months into the marriage, they had a fight and he ran home to our parents. They were both 18. My brother "eggs over easy" for breakfast. His wife, working in a Denny's, knew EXACTLY what those were. So she made them perfectly. The problem is he wanted them "over medium." For those who don't know, "over easy" is not quite firm whites. Now "over medium" is firm set whites with a hot runny yolk. Not really a big deal, slide them back into the pan for a minute, problem solved. However my brother proceeded to throw the plate at the wall, call her a horrible cook, and a terrible wife who "can't do anything right." He then went and told our parents that she refused to make him his breakfast and was being horrible to him. They called and got my teary SIL on the phone. She told them what he said to her and about throwing them at the wall. Dad asked him if it was true....he HAD, after all, left those parts out of the story. He admitted it was true....and was fine with it because everything he said to her was true, she should "know her place" as his wife....and he's not going back until she begs him to forgive her. My parents took him home, made him clean up the mess he made, My father let him no in no uncertain terms that he was an ass who didn't deserve to have my lovely SIL for a wife, and they packed HER up and moved her into our house! They left him there and told him to give them a call when he grew up. He's kind of hot-headed. He stewed for a day, then came over to apologize. Dad had a LONG talk with him about his temper, his behavior...etc. That crap wasn't going to fly. They wouldn't stand idly by while he turned into an abusive prick. More importantly, my SIL knew they had her back. He got the message. When he was deployed two months later, she moved in with mom and dad and went to university. About a year later I showed up and was her "practice" baby. He never did it again. He never forgot how it felt to be cleaning up the mess on the floor with his mother standing over him telling him how ashamed she was of him. He and sis are still married. Happily! The younger of my two older brothers (18 years older) told me about it. It was both hysterically funny and absolutely terrifying at the same time. He said he had never seen mom and dad so angry......and never saw them that mad again. He was mad too. He wasn't overly fond of sis but that's no way to treat your wife. So big bro had no support for his behavior from anyone.

I've been married over 20 years and while there were good and not so good years we never used a divorce threat as a tool, except in the beginning of the marriage, we both agreed and made clear that infidelity would be something that would be an instant divorce, anything else we would get counseling and to try to work through any issue. . If any partner treats you like a slave, constantly disrespects you and doesn't change, divorce them. You deserve better. If you don't think you do, seek a therapist to help you see the light.

Honestly, I would crack his scull open with that tea bottle. My husband was a widdower before me and he stayed alone with his son when the boy was just 2 and half months old.He took care of a baby, went to work when his leave days were over, he drove him to his parents and back home when they were babysitting. He was up all night with all the baby problems like teething, feever and all He never said he cant or anything. And even our boy wouldn't be such a baby like this guy. A grown ass man. A woman needs a good reliable man, not a boild noodle. Sure it's easy now with our boy. The worst is over. He is going to be 8 this Christmas. And now there is 2 of us. I adopted the boy.
