Instead, this group harrased him. The person recording was doing it to get views and they antagonized him to feed those views of people in the surrounding areas and via the internet. Teenagers feed into drama these days and sometimes it fights back. There are so many videos of random young teenagers punching strangers old people and kids even. Not to long a group of teenagers killed an elderly man with a traffic cone. It's getting out of control. Self-defense laws have never been more important then today with all these crimes evolving.

What helps Miu is the fact that it’s all on video. They can put all these “kids” in the stand and they can all say how much they don’t remember but thankfully they couldn’t help but record everything. So the jury gets to see him being punched, kept from being able to get up, being surrounded by able bodied young men. The ADULT was morally obligated to walk away but he didn't like a girl telling him what to do so he decked her and when the boys jumped into defend her, he started poking people in a situation HE CREATED. Someone that used self defense would call the police and tell them they just used a knife to defend themselves BUT he didn't. He tossed the knife, told his group the kids had a knife, then fled and caught leaving by police and he didn't tell them at that point, instead he lied and acted confused. He is guilty and he caused this. These kids were petulant brats, no doubt, but he was the adult. That's what the jury will realize. He will be found guilty.

The fact that a jury was conned into buying into the prosecution's lies, including from their lying witnesses is testament to the imperfect nature of juries, and the very imperfect nature of police interrogations, prosecutors, and how far what is arguably the fairest legal system on Earth still has to go. All accused persons are entitled to a presumption of innocence to beyond a reasonable doubt. That standard was definitely not adhered to here. Not even the guy on trial thinks it was self defense. He tried to throw the knife away as for it to not be discovered, lied to the cops about having a knife creating a made up fairy tale story, and he threw the first punch on a woman.

That’s what Miu alleges. The boys say he said he wanted to look for girls or something. Either way the women came over to tell Miu to leave the boys alone and he punched one of them in the face. He took his knife out before punching her while there was clearly no threat of harm. Miu started the physical part. The boys only pushed him when he punched the woman. He later goes and stabs that same woman when she’s clearly turned around to walk away, he literally stabs at her back and you can see her bleeding from it. She doesn’t even realize she’s been stabbed at first because her back was turned. The dude is unhinged!

I think it's more than clear that Mr. Miu is being verbally assaulted and since the group was also advancing towards him at some point, I guess you could say he felt physically threatened by a large group coming at him, especially being intoxicated. That's all pretty much a no-brainer. No way around it.

@@esk2g - Obviously you don't know how the law works. By law, if a person is in fear for life and retreating, then kills someone while trying to prevent attack, then that's self-defense. It's pretty simple. Since the group knocked him down twice and were holding him down while hitting him, that's mistake number one. He was then grabbed by the throat and stabbed forward trying to protect his life. That's self-defense and the video shows it. Not guilty by self-defense.

I can’t find any testimony from Maddy, the one person who could clear up the whole punched or slapped or hair pulled or left hand or right hand or any one of the multiple versions of the supposed strike that started it all. Where’s her testimony? Was he actually trying to wave to his friends for help AGAIN (bc you can see him do that once in the video when she first approaches and he realizes she’s not listening). That’s more reasonable than believing he punched her with a knife in his hand and it left no marks.
