Agree with the chip discussion. It’s why the winter of ai happened, not enough processing power. Still wonder why Siri has been so bad for so long. They had the power, neural engine, etc.

Just a crazy thought… I noticed that new iPhones and Macs are stuffed with neural chips. Could Apple use these chips to distribute certain machine learning processes to Apple users' devices… I mean, when a Mac is idle, running it's screensaver, or just at night in "sleep" mode, it could run certain tasks in some sort of low throttle mode. With all the Mac users out there, there is a huge computer power out there. I remember SETI-At-Home did something like this, to process data from radio telescopes...

The current AI systems are based on Neural Network technology. These can be trained in the background, or on another machine, and then just the coefficients that describe the training can be loaded on each device. Without going into linear algebra, it is like using statistics or algebra to draw a line through a collection of points. Or you can fit a plane through a set of 2D points, Or a Solid through 3D points, and so on to higher abstract dimensions. Then, the equation for the higher dimensions can be downloaded, rather than ALL of the points. It is much easier to do, than it is to explain. ;-)

im super excited for the ai and siri improvements with ios 18 and iPhone 16 ! ill be upgrading to 16 pm of course. I covet that smart siri and hopefully better and quicker voice typing !

Missing from your analysis is the fact that someone has to pay for the processing required of AI functionality. Until a computing company figures out how to make AI a productivity generator, how to make the processing of AI computations financially beneficial, this tech will fail and fail in the exact way that social media fails, becoming a tool for corporations to manipulate user consumptive behavior.

I already known about Apple secret AI project since they added Neural Engine in the chips. I suspect Samsung knew it too and tried to make phone with AI first but they don’t have Apple strategy of preparing iPhone with AI chips years ago though so I suspect it will more an OS based than hardware when Apple converted all our iPhones to AI (only those with neural engine)

Of ALL THE EXAMPLES you could have chosen for what AI can do for us... you chose DATING APPS?! That's like THE ONE THING we should not be using AI for... for the love of god! 😩😭😭😭 If you can't take the time to look through dating apps and actually talk to people, you probably shouldn't be in a relationship.

Xerox PARC: In the 1970s, Xerox PARC developed the Alto computer with a graphical user interface (GUI) with windows, icons and menus. The mouse became an integral part of the GUI. Apple copied this tech as usual. Apple is not an innovation company but mainly a software and marketing company.
