The fact that Apple Sleep was originally written as a love letter to Lost never fails to make me smile, the fact such a dark story started from such sweet origins is so funny. Hearing Mags thoughts and learning about the writing process was so interesting! I loved the Podcast about the lost narrator series, so I’m excited to watch the rest of the episodes for this one!

I will never, ever hold taking care of yourself, mental and physical health before anything else. I love these stories, I do but I will always stand by people first, entertainment later. That's what really matters at the end of the day. We can put up with being bored or not having a Halloween special for a few years or ever again if it means someone is taking care of themselves. Stories are a great outlet but it doesn't mean anything if it's the thing tearing someone down or doing further harm. I am thrilled for you both but please remember to take care of yourselves first. We'll be here later for if or when you're ready to come back.

ooo questions ok. Mag, how did you decide where to go with Apple Bloom? I think it’s a really cool idea that she seems fixated on finding out all the hidden answers about her sister, but where did you get the idea of making her Twilights student for example?
@FyruHawk2 ай бұрын
Firstly, my question is: What WOULD it have looked like IF you decided to make AppleJack actually be the antagonist again? The comments clued me into the twist being that it was all hallucinations caused by the mane 6 somehow taking the sleepless potion, but up until the very end I still had hoped that AJ had just gotten that much power from drinking all those random potions, or at least it was AJ who gave them the potion herself. Secondly: The fact that these stories were written to impress your crush, and the fact that it worked, is absolutely amazing. Love wins in the end. And lastly: I personally love seeing you include art of anthro ponies in the art showcase, since they're my favorite version of pony, but are sadly rare to see people make good art of them :3

One question I personally would love to see answered is where the idea came from to have actively shifting narrator voices. It's one of those things that when you look back at it you can say "it makes so much sense it fits perfectly" but I'd love to hear how that idea first got its footing and perhaps why each voice was used when it was. One of the best stories I've ever seen and I love getting to peek behind the curtain and see some of the building blocks that made the masterpiece we got.
@cevolie67162 ай бұрын
Honestly i'm glad Applebloom didn't get a happy ending, her whole vengeance thing really reminded me of Monte-Cristo and the moral of that story, i believe, is that vengeance, even if you believe you're doing something right, you just end up hurting people who didn't deserve it or even the people you care about By trying to hurt and destroy the main six's lives, she badly hurt or destroyed many others by extension, and while she was trying to make Twilight the big bad for giving Apple Jack the potion and imprisoning her for years, Applebloom inflicted multiple people with that same potion and ended up causing way more damage than Twi and all that damage caught up to her in the in end, finding herself alone with her dying (or i guess actually dead by the end) sister, just like how Monte-Cristo found himself alone by the ene of the story with all the ones he loved leaving him

I think that the POV shifts were a fantastic way to disorient the readers/listeners/viewers and really put them into the confusing and stressful situation that had drove Applejack to the path of destruction. My favorite was Rarity's POV, the familiar setting of the boutique turned claustrophobic through the deprivation of sleep and sanity. It is especially brilliant because Rarity has been known to get frazzled at stressful situations but she is also not above overworking herself if she feels it is necessary. Those are prime weaknesses the sleep deprivation to exploit!

Now years later, the sequel hits just as good as the first, if not better imo. I'm glad you didn't go the typical revenge/rehabilitation route, especially because of the little hints you dropped throughout the story, which makes it so much more interesting and rereadable. Now i wanna go back and read it for myself and see what i think. You're such an iconic writer, and Lost is an amazing producer. Thank you both so much for making yet another classic in the grimdark world! ❤️

i actually thought its was great that the sequel explains how even though an unsupervised batch of magic was the very cause of all this happening is what actually managed to put the absolute fear of god in twilights mind utterly driving her to complete madness was a very nice touch giving that's what she intends to avoid the total downfall of Equestria only for the given fact that she was her own worst enemy in the scenario made this fanfic quite the brilliant masterpiece kudos i really felt the thrill and im glad that the first and the second was capable of explaining what's truly happening given that you both got the characters to help twilights struggle leaving at least one more to give her assistance in the end making it feel more authentic not just Friday the 13th-ish you know where "everyone's dead ohhh nooo" you know? i love that you took into consideration not everyone has to die leave at least on or two survivors I LOVE IT

You and Lost are very talented! This was my FAVORITE mlp grimdark. Very weird, very spoopy, and very gooooood!! I also love how Twilight gets it bad at the end. I hate her, worst princess. So it was very satisfying. They may hate it, but she tried to hide AJ from the ponies and use other worst pony Stalight Glimmer as the new Element of Honesty just so she still praised as the ‘good’ princess, so she defintely had it coming. It was also very confusing and a great ending showing how Apple Bloom created the potion to manipulate the ponies and is a lot more smarter than the ‘book horse’. Sad that she was basically killing her sister…

Its always great to hear about the process of creative projects!! I've always been such a sucker for how other creatives go about writing their works and just being overall excited about sharing the process and discussions of the themes! I am so sorry you and Lost went through such a difficult time during this. That is terrible and I understand why it took so long. It can be difficult to write trauma the characters experience with how mentally taxing and negative it is. I'm glad to hear that you used this story to cope with going through such difficult times. Creative works are often expressed from the environment the person is in and their state of mind. I have a story that while it's not very happy I'm incredibly passionate about since I put so much of myself into the characters and what they go through. I look forward to more of hearing about your thoughts as well as Lost if she feels comfortable to! I've been a fan for so long and I really love grimdarks thanks to y'all!

I want to just say thank you for making this story, I really felt connected to how you wrote the nightmare sequence for Fluttershy it hit home in a way; to where it helped me understand more of myself. Also with Twilight I really was impressed with how she was portrayed as someone with extreme guilt and reeling from her mistakes and it slowly twisting her to where in a sense where she could normalize it to feel less guilty. I love your works; this had a ton of soul in it and it shows from the writing down to the performances! Also will they're be an small epilogue, to show the consquences of appleblooms actions?

I had noticed a plot hole in the original Apple Sleep Experiment, which you fixed with the sequel. That was, that Dash, Pinkie, Rarity, and Fluttershy all knew the truth about Applejack's imprisonment. I couldn't believe they would go along with it, but your reasoning hit the nail on the head. They were willingly sacrificing Applejack for the mission of friendship, as they saw it.

For Discord, I prefer to pretend he's in another dimension when I write a story I don't need him in. We've seen he lives in a pocket reality, when Fluttershy went to his house, and it was just a house floating in a void. So he probably deals with people in all sorts of universes. He's probably even Q from Star Trek. When he's not sipping tea with Flutters, he's being frenemies with Picard. lol

BTW I wonder if anyone has used that as a crossover plot point. Ponies joining the federation. Twilight meets Q, and realizes his voice is familiar.

Ooh questions!~ Okay this has been crawling on my mind since the ending of the final episode of AASE: Did Applebloom finally confessed on what she'd done to the mane 5 and her killing Twilight? I mean, she had nothing left to lose since AJ passed away, if the final beep was a giveaway at the end.

Why was it only Apple Bloom to seek revenge against the mane five? Did Big Mac die? Did Granny? I haven't seen in while so I forgot sorry....

I got some questions. Will there be another episode where we can do more drawing of an Apple Sleep Experiment & Another Apple Sleep Experiment? Will there be more grimdark stories of MLP?
