I just got mine today, standard glass and tilt only. I sit right next to a window and debated getting the nano texture but didn't like the way it looked in the store on white backgrounds and it was less sharp. The standard glass does a surprisingly good job of fighting glare. The only time it's bad is if I go off to the side opposite of the window, but I'm never working like that so it's really a non issue!

I was starting to lean away from the Apple Studio Display from so many reviews that say it’s not worth the price, but your points really validate and clarify my personal preference for the Studio Display. Apple integration is a plus and there is something to having something that makes you happy. I went down to the Apple Store a few weeks ago and I loved the Studio Display. Oh, and thanks for the comment about the Nano option. I was leaning towards getting that because looking side-by-side at the glossy, the Nano texture was glare-free. Although the contrast wasn’t as rich. It still looked nice, but just overall more dull. Thanks for the real life review.

I got an Apple Studio Display a couple of months ago. I spent a lot of reviews and there is a time leaning towards LG 38" Ultrawide, but I never regret about my decision now. I used this display next to office window, but I have not got any issue of the reflection on the standard display. The reflection will be only problem if your window is back. As you know Nano option also decreases the contract. I do not think it is worth. If you consider, just go for it. No regret even in 2024. I personally recommend high adjustable stand for ergonomics. Your body or health is the most important other than anything else.

And I looked at one in person and first thought was OK that's but WTF $2,000 for a totally featureless monitor? Surprised there wasn't an option for $800 dollar wheels for it. C'mon this is Chinese electronic junk, not Tiffany's.

I've been using the Studio Display for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. I use it with my Mac Studio and MacBook Pro 14, and sometimes with my iPad Pro M1 and it works flawlessly. It's far superior to its direct competitor, the Samsung S9, both in terms of panel quality and build quality. Unfortunately, 120Hz isn't supported by the Thunderbolt 3 interface, as the specifications for that interface don't allow for anything above 60Hz at 5K. The only real issue is the single-area backlight, which isn't great in contrast (but better than the 5K iMac panel, which no... isn't the same as many say). Oh yeah, and it would be nice if Apple provided drivers for Windows without having to resort to any weird workarounds. Another problem is that Apple does not provide drivers for Windows and you have to use strange tricks to get them. You already said everything else!

It's the Studio Display for me. I love everything about it, the image quality, the incredibly high standard build quality and beautiful design ... perhaps not the cost so much. There are really only two other 5K 27" options in Australia . The discontinued LG Ultrafine 5K has pretty much disappeared, without even second hand or refurbished models to be found. That leaves the Samsung Viewfinity 5K. The image quality is fine, though a little flat for me. The build is just plastic, with really flimsy and finicky height adjustment. And speaking of stupid toggles and buttons to adjust brightness etc, you have to use a remote control on the Samsung because it thinks it's also a smart tv - it's a horrible experience. The Studio Display is expensive but I see it as an investment. I don't need or want to nano option, or height adjustment. It's built to last and can always be sold if my Mac addiction starts to put my mortgage repayments at risk.

Does the monitor emit any buzzing sounds (coil whine) or fan noise?
@BrandonMeves
@BrandonMeves 4 ай бұрын
If i put my ear 2 inches above the top, i can hear the fan. If you don’t do that (which you never will), the monitor is dead silent. I’m actually pretty sensitive to those buzzing and whine sounds and was a big reason I got rid of my old monitor. I now have 2 of these apple displays and it is completely quiet!

While 120 Hz sounds nice on paper, you also have to consider pixel response times. If it’s slow, it looks smeary and doesn’t _feel_ like the 120 Hz from OLED that you’d expect.
