Indeed, there's a very asymmetrical lack of reciprocity here. Her view is that she doesn't have to treat Wren like her daughter, but Wren still has to treat her like Wren's mother. At the point "Mom" said that, Wren should've told her to "go eff off".

Yeah. It actually happens like that, a lot. Generally, when an abusive parent makes one child a Golden Child and one child a scapegoat, the GC reacts either by becoming a spoiled brat, and hating the scapegoat, just as much as the abusive parent does, OR, they respond by hating the parent for putting that BURDEN of being the Golden Child on them. "Now I have to be perfect! Now, I have to deal with the well-deserved resentment towards me from the scapegoat. Now I have to watch someone I love suffer, and know that it's MY FAULT." See, that's the thing. The Golden Child who feels bad feels bad because the abusive parent, who never takes responsibility for their own actions, EVER, has somehow made the GC actually feel responsible for their parents' actions. "If I wasn't X or Y, then Mom wouldn't do Z." Except that Mom would do Z, even if the Golden Child didn't exist, let alone if they didn't do X or Y. Because it is the abusive parent's fault for THEIR OWN ACTIONS AND CHOICES. The children cannot control their parents, and are NOT RESPONSIBLE for their parents' actions. And then you have the third (or more) children, who are neither Golden Child nor scapegoat, and are just crying out for some love and attention, while at the same time, are GRATEFUL to be ignored, because at least they're not being abused, except that neglect is also a form of abuse. Basically, abusive parents who show favoritism are abusing ALL of their children, INCLUDING the Golden Child, either by ruining the GC (by spoiling them) or by filling them with guilt for the parent's actions, and the child's inability to save their beloved siblings. IT SUCKS.

@@Enter_the_Toshiverse_1996 To be fair, I know some people who say "lol," in real life. In fact, they also say, "question mark?" which I find utterly hilarious, so I don't want them to stop. But, yeah, some people do say it, especially when they are being sarcastic. Note, they do not end every question with "question mark?" More like they just say, "question mark?" to express their confusion about something. So, instead of saying, "What the heck is that?" or "What does that mean?" they just say, "Question mark?" Maybe it's just me, but I laugh, every time. Now, if they started saying, "exclamation mark!" or "comma," I'd probably have enough of that, pretty darn quick.

I've also seen question Mark called Mark of interrogation, which I think might be even funnier! I once read a story about playwright who sent a telegram to a critic after a First Night,he sent " ? ", and the critic sent back " ! "

I keep saying my mother by scapegoating me gave me the gift of hating her. My older sister wasn't so lucky and turned into a clone without a single individual thought in her head. It's creepy.

In a way, Golden Childing you kid (whether it be "the favorite child" in a group of siblings, or an only child) is a form of abuse, as well, because you either raise a child who is riddled with guilt for being the Golden Child who cannot stop the abusive parent from abusing the others, or you raise a monster, who will NEVER be able to find real love in their life, and will probably die miserable and alone, after having driven everyone else away.

Favoritism is weird. Calling the one individual ugly that you personally gave birth to is waaay out of line. It's uncomfortably common among mothers to blame their own child because of how they look. That's just insanity truth to be told. You, yes you. Whatever YOU do to help others and make them smile back, that's beautiful. Take care folks. Peace.

My aunt wore a black dress with a black hat and veil to her youngest daughter’s wedding. The bride was a pregnant 14 year old and it was the third wedding in less than a year…her pregnant 16 year old daughter, 15 year old daughter and finally her 14 year old daughter. This was my snooty “wealthy” aunt…LOL!

Wow, just wow, 14, 15 and 16 sisters and they were all getting married because they were pregnant 😳 seriously what the hell were they doing having sex and getting pregnant at that age, ok granted 16 is the legal age in the uk, but the the 14 and 15 years old, that's rape at that age the girls are not old enough to give consent, the girls shouldn't have been getting married to anyone at that age, as for the men who got them pregnant they shouldn't be getting married , depending on their age, they should have been getting charged for statutory rape !!.also what the hell were their parents thinking, didn't they ever teach their girls about self worth, ssexual health and contraception ?? Those girls were seriously let down when it came to the way they were brought up. And yes, I am judging them as parents. After all, they obviously had no idea what their daughters were doing, they allowed their girls to have under age sex with who knows who and then made them get married to the fathers who possibly raped them, not to mention you can't get married at that age, ok again in the uk you can but only with parental consent, but even that is changing soon, so you have to wait till 18 but 14 and 15 is illegal in the uk, ok I am going by uk laws as I have now idea where you are from, however I very much doubt its legal anywhere to to have a sexual relationship with a 14 year old never mind it been legal for them to marry 😳 unless you are from Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen, getting married as a minor is against the law !! Most countries allow marrige onky after the couple turn 18 - 21 a few allow you to get married 16 -17 with parental consent but even that's too young. Allowing those girls to marry at 14,15 and 16 is child marrige no matter how you look at it that's wrong on so many levels, also I'm also concerned of is how old were the father's of these babies, because if they are older then it's definitely rape, even though some places have the Romeo and Juliet laws where if there is 3 years between them its possibly ok to have a sexual relationship where both parties give consent and are in a relationship ( doesn't count if its just a hook up ) so the 14 year old the father has to be no older than 17, 15 year old the father can't be over 18 and the 16 year old her can't be over 19, but even with that in mind, who in their right mind allows their 14 year old have a sexual relationship with anyone, they are still a child 😳 I can't really object to 15 and 16 as I started having a sexual relationship just a couple of weeks before my 16th, but saying that 16 is legal here and I'd been in that relationship for almost a year. I just truly hope your cousins are doing ok and they are safe and happy, as for uour aunt their mother who allowed all this to happen well I have zero nice things to say ahout her so I won't say anything other than she seriously let her girls down in more than one way 😢

Why is wearing black at a wedding bad? When i went to my sister's wedding, my attire was a navy blue suit, easily mistaken for black and my necktie were our family's colours. Nobody cared.

Hm. Why is it such an drama for a bride if somebody turns up in black to her wedding?? I would think it is only embarrassing for the person dressing in black, because that person would stand out and would have some explaining to do. As a bride, I wouldn't care what anybody was wearing, except white. I guess white is the colour for the bride and no-one else. But I wouldn't even mind white, because it would always be clear who the bride is. So I cannot understand that recurrent "I will come to your wedding in black!" drama. And suing somebody just for that? Ridiculous. But then, if people behaved normally, there wouldn't be any stories here ...

Lol the mom has a better case for suing than the random couple do. As far as I can tell she literally did nothing. The couple made assumptions that she had no reasonable way of knowing they might, and caused their own problems. Then they threatened to cause her harm and terrorized her based on their own assumptions. The mom may be an ass but the couple whose wedding she "ruined" actually did something illegal. No judge would uphold their claim for her to pay any portion of their wedding costs.
