I have had issue with the remote trackpad sometimes not working or having a delay. It got worse over time. I kept thinking it was a connection issue. Bring out the Apple TV out in open and make sure your remote is within 1 feet of Apple TV and then hold Menu + Volume Up for 5 sec

this works sometimes btw but a lot of times (if your remote died from low battery ) and you recharged it it needs to be reset and re-“paired” again
