For gaming, I think Apple should come out with haptic gloves where user can now feel the touches (of the butterfly for example) or even virtual keyboard can be felt. @PSYCHOV3N0M Жыл бұрын
I say the following as an Android/Windows user: Some people don't seem to understand that Apple Vision Pro is more than "just a headset". It's a WEARABLE MACBOOK with desktop performance that can replace a laptop for many if not most people. You don't need an iPhone, iPad, or Macbook to use it. You can connect a Bluetooth keyboard and browse the web, etc. By comparison, the Meta Quest Pro is more like a WEARABLE CHROMEBOOK. Obviously this product isn't targeted at average consumers (hence the price) BUT society in general has demonstrated for decades that they are willing to pay a premium for entertainment especially if it's life-changing or impactful. The people who are complaining about the price are NOT the target audience for this headset and they were never planning on buying it to begin with so why complain?? Because they're miserable in life and just want something new to complain about? 😑 One's enjoyment of a product should be based on the experience it provides and NOT the price one paid for it. If you got this headset for free then chances are you would be praising how awesome it is and/or that it has transformed the way you consume entertainment. If Apple suddenly told you to pay $3,500+Tax for it then suddenly it's not worth it?? 😂😂😂 Also keep in mind that it's a one-time fee and not some recurring monthly service that you keep paying for like Netflix, Game Pass, Spotify, or access to use the heated car seats on a BMW car, etc. If people can waste money on a daily $7-$8 Starbucks coffee 5 days a week or $15 cocktails at a bar, they can instead save that money and put it towards something more expensive that they want that lasts way longer like a $400 PS5 or a $2,500 QD-OLED TV or whatever they want no matter the price. Just saying...

If you're watching Avatar and you get that low batt alert, just plug it in to a power bank. Problem solved. Yea its not ideal, but considering what this thing is doing in real time constantly in-use, its kind of mind blowing they're able to squeeze 2 hours with that medium sized bank.

Seems like the multiple user experience would get pretty messy if each of the users had a different prescription glasses insert. Can you imagine keeping track of your 2 slivers of glass? I'm wondering if Apple is sandbagging on the battery life. That seems like a giant battery pack compared to what's in an iPhone.
@wushdishmeen Жыл бұрын
I think the battery pack not being on the back is a major PLUS because it means you can lay down on a couch or bed flat or sideways while wearing this without a bulging thing in the back of your head. Takes all of the weight off you. I too wondered what happens when the battery dies and it's not good that it turns off it means you have to definitely be tethered to a plug if you want to watch a movie or do anything long term. But I'm sure the power on/off is very quick with that M2 chip. Someone will probably develop a hotswap battery pack for this thing where it keeps 30-60 seconds of power going long enough to switch batteries. I also cannot see developers playing with this thing and not immediately making their own third party controller, and utilizing the fact that with the M2 chip it's the same architecture as any Mac and you can translate DirectX12 games into Metal 3 now. They could totally make an amazing VR gaming experience on this headset. Most VR/AR games are simple ones like beat saber or the boxing game which on most headsets requires you to punch your hands with a controller, but with how good the hand/eyetracking is on this thing, you could play those games just using your bare hands. Then for FPS games they could totally make hand gestures work, but I think a simple controller could be developed that simply adds haptic feedback and physical buttons. But it's clear Apple didn't want to seem like just another gaming headset and wanted to tackle the actual computing market, which is the real future. Video games are not the future of anything, it's just entertainment. But the Vision Pro OS is definitely a platform that computers will be operating on in the future, and we're just getting the technology 5 years early so there's going to be some tradeoffs. Just recognize this is a new product category and imagine the Vision Pro 2 or Vision Pro 3???!? It's already so far ahead I think Apple has nowhere to go but UP from here.
@portalteam5832 Жыл бұрын
I would imagine anything you do in full VR (like a movie in movie theatre mode) uses quite a bit less battery as it doesn't need to use the R1 nearly as much to process and stream the outside world in.

I don’t understand the obsession with it not being isolating. We often isolate when we meditate, when we read, when we watch content, when we study or want to focus on something so we may dive as deep as possible into learning a subject. Isolation may be necessary for true transformation, to break free of habits and patterns that no longer serve us, similar to being positively influenced by a great movie or book that you give your full attention to. In fact it has been shown that VR experiences may be one of the best and most powerful ways of entering a flow state which is great for our health and creativity.

The dad recording his kids had heavy black mirror vibes. It's just not something I expect to see real people doing though - at least not very often. People are making a big deal about the 3D video recording - which is admittedly a cool thing but there's a problem with it that nobody is talking about - how are you going to watch that 3D video? The only place to watch it will be the Vision Pro you recorded it on (or, if the format supports it, potentially some 3D TVs out there). People don't record family videos so that they can sit around and watch them *alone* - they record them to be shared with friends and family and watched together. That's also why I kind of roll my eyes at the entire concept of using this headset as a media consumption device - most people watch tv shows and movies *with* other people - you can't do that with a headset because everything you're experiencing is isolated. Headsets work as gaming machines because most people play games alone (or online with others - but they're still physically isolated when doing that). People definitely do sit and watch tv/movies alone - but not as often as they do those things with other people.

This is the initial release, we all remember what the original iphone was like and how quickly it fixed all the short falls. No doubt this eats "meta's" lunch and apple becomes the new VR/AR king. Just like with phones and the smart watch.

They forgot to tell you that you'll have to pay sales tax on this new vr headset.

Right, $4,000

Since it’s called Vision Pro, I have a feeling after a year or two they got a rename it, Apple glasses pro and released a cheaper version called Apple glasses that has the interface more so associated with the iPhone and iOS and a integrated battery pack and support for cellular data

It takes a lot of effort to trademark something globally. They put a lot of thought into the name. They’re not glasses, more like goggles. The name has a double meaning, it’s also Apple’s “vision” (concept) of computing in the future.

Then they buy out Meta’s VR dept and release a Vision Quest. 😂

wouldn’t ProM 10:44 otion help the battery life? due to it going all the way down to 1H and up to 120p

Maybe they could have helium filled balloon on top of your head to takeoff some of the weight? Just a thought ha ha

It wouldn't surprise me if we're more than a year away from a general release outside of the US. The wait for this device has been an absolute killer!
@Anilu777 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. There’s no mention except the one time Apple did that this is US only to start. So the rest of the world has to wait again. KZbinrs need to mention this too. The internet has no border (except autocratic regimes)

Just looking at the ergonomics of watching a movie and I can't see any reason to be using battery power for this. I'm usually sat in a comfortable spot with easy access to a power point. The battery pack can be plugged in to it's charger whilst static. I'd likely use the battery when mobile or transitioning between areas.

Couch Potatoes will surly complain about the weight of the headset. All regular Gym Rats who regularly lift weights will build their neck muscles to easily manage the 3 - 5 lbs of extra head weight. For those are not familiar with head/neck muscle development, small light weights are typically produce amazing results (6-10 weeks).
@dtz1000 Жыл бұрын
There is no way it's that heavy.

One pound is a lot for many people, true. The human head is around 10 pounds on its own. Add a pound and you feel it. 😂
