Apple Watch Series 1 Battery Replacement

I’m the third owner of my 8yo gen 1 apple watch, I wasn’t really surprised when the battery just began to swell and separate the screen from the rest of the watch. Poor dude’s been sitting in a drawer for a while now, I’m excited to buy a new battery and try this out! Thanks!

I just experience the spicy pillow battery a few days ago. Debating if spending $15 on a battery is worth it for an 8 year old device

@@tamwilfred to me, it was definitely worth it! My watch's been working just fine since the battery replacement. Like if you don't mind how outdated the device is and how rudimentary what it can do is compared to newer devices, I'd say go for it.

I've had mine from new and have used it regularly since , from memory 2014 or so when I got it , I don't wear it constantly as I sometimes don't bother with a watch at all ; other times I wear my Rolex or my Omega , the former having been my dad's watch and the latter was my 21st birthday from my dad ( I'm now 66 ) but I still like to wear them both ; plus I have a Casio and a couple of others . Anyway , my Apple watch sometimes sits on the charger for a few weeks at a time , but it only popped open a couple of months back ; the one I gave me daughter when it was new , did the same last year , and she just bought herself a new one .Since I'm fixing mine I'm just as well doing hers and passing it to my son , who hasn't yet got a good watch ( he's 15 ) ; I will get him something decent like a Rolex or an Omega when he's 21 , as my dad did for me - every young man should have a nice watch . Although if I croak before then , he will inherit my watches . My daughter will get my piano , my hi-fi and my record collection ; my son only wants my cars and my garage tools !

@derekheeps8012 The concern with electronics such as smartwatches and smartphones is to avoid leaving them on the charger constantly. Additionally, allowing such devices to remain unused for extended periods can lead to battery swelling, which appears to be a common issue.

Well, I guess I pulled a little too hard and the connection to the Watch & battery came off. Can I do anything to fix that issue?

Question, I live in central america and I can't find the glue yet, what happen if I don't glue it back??

I just fixed my Gen 1 42mm Apple Watch which I owned from new , and also doing the 38mm Gen 1 which was my daughter's ; she bought a new one so that one will be going to my ( younger ) son . I'm just charging my own watch before final testing and sealing , then I will charge the other one = both displayed the lightning bolt 'please charge' symbol when I tried them ; so I will leave mine overnight before trying again , and ditto with the other one . Both watches had popped open due to swelling of the batteries . I have some loctite super glue here , so will try a few drops of that to seal , otherwise I will go shopping for some silicone glue . won't be a major issue as I think the repairs are basically good . Update - after about 5 mins charging , my own watch booted up with the Apple logo and is now good - so I know the repair is good . I will leave overnight to charge then glue shut ; I'm fairly confident a few carefully applied drops of super glue will work fine . Then I will repeat with the other one .

My own Apple Watch , after about 2 hours charging , appears to be working perfectly ; I have glued closed with Loctite Super Glue , works perfect . Now charging my daugther's used watch ( currently showing Apple Logo ) .

I replaced the battery on my watch because it was bootlooping, now it just shows the apple logo and then turns off but doesn't do anything until I press the power button again. I force restarted it several times and let the battery fully drain 3 times. What should I do?

Have you tried holding the crown and power button for 10 seconds and then put it on the charger? That worked for me

Thanks for the video. How long does it usually take to dischange the battery, because my apple watch does that thing with apple logo cycling on and off and not turning on. Thanks.

@@l4nds0n nope, I think it might have killed my Apple Watch. I left it on the charger hoping it would boot up eventually, but then it got really hot and now it has no signs of life.
