Not having an Apple Watch yet and shopping, I wish Apple would have not only made the software more efficient as you mentioned but also instead of making the case thinner on and already pretty thin case (my opinion) keep the case size and made the battery a tad bigger as well. My hesitation is battery life when Garmin makes their device last for days. I get charging at night, but would be nice to get a week out of a charge. I would advise against using fast charging with your new Apple Watch. I got the Series 10 46mm titanium and to charge it I bought the old USB-A charger. Reason? I upgraded from a Series 7 and fast charging completely obliterated its battery health. And mind you that the Series 10 has even faster charging than the Series 7, 8 and 9. So people who get a Series 7 or later, go chill with the fast charging, it will destroy battery health even more than fast charging kills the iPhone's battery.
@mlegrand3 ай бұрын
Seems like to test battery longevity we’d want to buy two series 10s, one charges with fast charging and the other with trickle charging. Wait for about a year and compare battery health. 🤔
@anthonyanthony27833 ай бұрын
@@mlegrand look I had the Series 2, 4, 7 and 10 and it's only the Series 7 that got its battery destroyed like this, it was also the first one that got fast charging and I used the fast charger to charge it every single time. So that's what killed it like this. It wouldn't have been the case with the regular charger. Btw it's obvious too because faster charging produces more heat and batteries degrade with heat. I just never thought it was this bad.
@oliverniehaus71593 ай бұрын
@@anthonyanthony2783 yeah you’re absolutely right. I had a series 7 for 3 years before upgrading to the 10 and I consistently fast charged the series 7 because I used it during the day and for sleep tracking and now the battery health is below 80% and would barely get me through a day. Now I use the series 7 for sleep tracking and just charge the series 10 with a slow charger overnight. Hopefully that will help preserve battery health.

I feel these devices are stuck in a rut. Screen and cpu efficiency isn’t there. Battery tech lags… my biggest grief with otherwise a great watch is complication refreshes lacking. I have a glucose sensor that spits out a reading every five minutes, but due to 3rd party limits in favor of limiting battery use, I don’t know if the reading is accurate or not without manually refreshing the complication… -thanks for nothing. Frustratingly, the same poor refresh is found on standby mode of the phone too, so certainly cages need to be rattled over at Apple.
@mlegrand3 ай бұрын
The battery thing is super interesting. These watches must be running a lot of code in the background. It seems like tons of other brands have significantly better battery life options. And Apple keeps telling us that people are ok with one day of battery life. 🤷♂️ That being said, I'll still be super interested to see what they have coming up next.
@johnedwards55753 ай бұрын
@@mlegrand I imagine the watches have lots of code to factor. The arbitrary complication refresh limit has existed from day one however, which is always a bit jarring to me ten years later. But, Apple’s own complications don’t live by those rules. Some developers figured this out, and some savvy enough designed apps to write data as appointments every five minutes to iCloud calendars. (Glooroo, Sugarmate, Sweet Dreams) The downside to that being less watch face options that can suitably show the calendar complication.

@Eric - suggestions for a title change? That's something I can change after posting the video. Not much I can do about the actual video at this point.

@@mlegrand Just take out the "42 vs 46mm" part. This video is not comparing the two. Its just a general overall review vid. Otherwise it is just click baity

@@EricK-vw5wh - Good suggestion Eric. My only concern is that the title "AWS 10 Review" would be the exact same title as about 1000 other videos out there. . . . 🤔 Personally, I don't think this qualifies as "click bait" but click bait is common on YT for a reason, it get's people to click. Would you have clicked on it if it just said "Review"? Maybe the title should lean into having both watches for a month? Maybe something like "AWS 10 Review After having both the 42 and 46 for a month". Or is that too long?

Yall I was just watching this video and guess what happened I got a 17 minute ad on the new MacBook M4 series 😭

I set up this video to only have ads before or afterwards and not mid-roll ads. 🤷🏻♂️

I have 170mm wrists and wear the Black Ultra 2 on Black Ocean Band on weekends. The 46mm Slate Titanium on Midnight Braided Loop during the week. Both wear fine. 46mm looks better on you.👏🇦🇺

Nice! That's a pretty nice set up! I'll have a close look at the Black AWU 2 video coming up soon. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

I just used a sale and promotion to purchase my series 10 for 280.35 on Amazon The Resaon my series 6 will not be supporting my Dexcom continuous glucose monitor after next update I have the Dexcom G7 send my blood glucose reading every 5 minutes and it displays as a complication on both my 15 PM and series 10 .

I love that! I've used a CGM before and it's an amazing tool but having to check my phone all the time wasn't nearly as nice as something like having it sent directly to a watch face complication. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
