@@dad.0 It's a great piece of kit. I upgraded from the 38mm series 3 so its nice to have the slightly bigger screen, feels more like an actual watch. The extra storage, going from 8gb to 32gb is also a life saver. Speed, screen, features - all are great, really pleased with it.

Not the 5 because SE don’t have always on display. I would say SE is more the 3 but if this going to be your first Apple Watch I would definitely go for the SE over the 3 due that the price difference is not huge

I sold my series 3 for the SE. The memory or lack thereof in the 3 makes updating the OS a pain. As of March 2021 I had to basically unpair and restore it to get the 3 to update. Also forget putting extra media and apps on it as all of the memory is being taken up.

@@ninjanerdstudent6937 yea it was more damaged box as the shrink wrap was off but literally it was never even taken out lol, it is eBayish at times, often it is better to only use it locally for trades or meet in person deals, although I’ve never had a problem shipping or buying items to be shipped from there

Honestly I bought a barely used 3 for like $50 and to me it’s perfectly great for seeing if I even like having an Apple Watch. Didn’t want to pay full price for something I was on the fence for. Had it only a few days now and I like it so far. If I still like it later on I’ll upgrade.

I want to get the 3 because its much cheaper. I don't mind the lack of some features in the series 3. My only concern is how long it will be supported by apple until you can't get updates for the 3. I plan to have this watch for at least 4 years.

Thats the big question. I'd be surprised if it gets updated past watchos8. And, with the limited storage, you may not be able to download the updates anyway

I just bought a series 3, it was only $139 from Best Buy (open box, excellent, so like new) mostly because I couldn’t justify the massive price difference for not that many features, and a slightly larger screen and better processor. I’m excited for my Series 3. Edit: about 7 months on, the Series 3 has been fine. It’s done it’s job fine, but it falls behind in the screen, storage, design, and features, so I’m getting the SE. Really looking forward to it! Edit 2: Finally got the SE! It’s really great! The screen is soooooo much better.

I have a series 3. It only has a total storage capacity of 4.7G not 8 G. I bought it in 2017. I can no longer update the software because it says I need 3.1 G storage room. That means I will need to delete all my apps etc to allow the update to download. Maybe the newer series 3 has 8G????

Great review. I bought my Dad the Series 3 42 mm on Black Friday for $149 which is too good of a price to pass up. Mainly bought it for him to pair with his Dexcom blood glucose monitor but for all the basic stuff like calls, notifications, and heart rate it’s been solid if not as quick as the SE but still completely usable. As for myself, I went all out and got the Series 6 silver stainless steel with Milanese loop band after my Series 1 finally died.

Don’t get the s3 if you’re planning on using fitness+. I’ve had the s3 since it came out and I had a hard time updating the watch to get fitness+. I have it, but there was barely enough storage to update and I didn’t have anything stored on my watch. Also, after this update, I’m pretty sure the s3 won’t get anymore software updates. My mom has the s2 and she can’t get this new update. So just keep that in mind. Definitely go for the SE.
