Batteries come in different sizes and capacities. For example: Series 5 40mm: 25 x 19 x 4 (mm) 240 mAh Series 5 44mm: 27 x 21 x 5 (mm) 290 mAh

So swapped mine and the adhesive on the bottom ripped the black cover over the chip in an area would that be permanent damage?

you probably fried it....if you take out any other connectors before you unplug the battery there is a 50/50 chance that you are gonna fry the main board or the screen.... i know it's stupid.... only on apple...
