Amazing review, I loved the little RC car segment. The tone of this review is classic Verve, and I prefer reviews that finish on a more definitive and educated opinion. I'll be sticking with Series 6, it ain't broke yet.

In terms of the sleep tracking “not being as good” as Fitbit’s. But I saw a guy on here test over 30 watches and a sleep tracking device and apple watches sleep tracking was the most accurate by a huge leap. Highly recommend watching it, it’s very informative. Called something like “Apple watch scientific sleep test” by the quantified scientist

Watch makers really don't want you to tie multiple watches on your wrist while testing because it might affect the result it going to show you and also the placement of the watch while wearing multiple watches to test also affects the result. The guy you mentioned testing multiple watches at a time or testing 30 watches individually?

Durability of the display for rock climbing and mountaineering is my main concern with the Apple Watch so it would be super helpful to know if the Ultra is a meaningful upgrade in this regard or if you still need a screen protector to be safe. Otherwise the Ultra seems more like a first Gen device to me for the target demographic and certainly isn't competitive with Garmin just yet.

You're fine. Get a screen cover. But I wouldn't bother with the Ultra. I had it for 2 days and returned it and got the Series 8. (Was coming from a Series 6 44mm.) I do NOT regret it.

@@TrapTech I've got the Series 5 and what I didn't realised before a couple of weeks ago is that the Ion-X glas really is much more prone to scratching compared to the sapphire crystal in the stainless steel versions. So maybe I gotta go for the steel version in the future until they do some exclusive features for the Ultra that make the upgrade worth it.

I was considering getting the SE2 as my first Apple Watch, but decided to get the non-cellular Nike Series 7 instead. Reasons included always on, dust resistance, non-plastic back and fast charging. I think I made the right decision, even though it was more expensive. (For me, Series 8 just wasn’t in the equation.)

I’m on series 4, and still haven’t found a reason to upgrade, if anything I’m only going to spare ~$300 for a newer battery… Because, to recap, all series 8 has is: -Compass and it’s features -Blood oxygen sensor (which isn’t really reliable) -Larger screen (by 1”, since I’m having a 44”) -2 Temperature sensors -larger battery (I would’ve been sold on this, but it’s still not big enough and is quoted on the same level as series 4, with the exception of the charging time which is fortunately lower)

Honestly kinda disappointed that it can't take body temps. Don't get me wrong I think the cycle tracking is a great addition, but would have been really cool to be able to check your temperature if you have a fever or are overheating or something. The thermometer is already there, I feel like it should have more utility.

Currently have a series 4 and was looking at upgrading to the 8 but on closer inspection there really isn't a lot of difference and my series 4 apart from loosing some battery capacity is still going like a champ. Ill save the money and use it to upgrade my Air pods pro instead

S4 user here too. The screen is slightly bigger on the last few iterations which is nicer and the always-on makes it a bit more ‘normal’ looking. I wanted to save some money and get an S7 given how small the improvements are this year, but alas, I have a bunch of silver aluminium bands from Juuk and they didn’t release the S7 in silver, only that odd starlight colour. Wouldn’t match. I think 4 years is a decent lifespan but equally given the primary functions of notifications and activity tracking are always covered, there’s a good argument for running them into the ground as well.

As an Android user with a Garmin watch I charge once a month, none of these products make any sense to me. Why do people want a small iPhone they have to charge every night on their wrist? That's what your phone is for. Why is having a huge cutout in your screen for face scanning better than a fast and discrete fingerprint scanner that works on a desk? How is it acceptable to not use USB-C in 2022? Apple's hardware quality may be great but their design direction is puzzling.

@@frumpd63 Then you should understand Face ID is leagues better than finger print. Why would I want to hold my finger on a certain part of the screen when I can just glance at my phone an unlock it. An as someone who goes to school, work, an the gym pretty much daily, it helps so that I can literally leave my phone at home (on accident, it happens, or on purpose at the gym/school) an still get calls and texts an listen to music. I can even watch KZbin on it. But more importantly, to answer your main question why regular people do it. Because it’s a phone on your wrist that your never going to leave or forget, ++++ it’s a great workout tool. It’s like having an iPod on your wrist with cellular. That’s why it’s the most popular watch in the world.

The sleep tracking is actually much better than Fitbit and Oura. Check out The Quantified Scientist on KZbin who tests sleep tracking on all kinds of devices by comparing it to an EEG device. This new Apple Watch sleep tracking algorithm is now the best.

Ive never owned a Apple Watch but hopefully soon in the next month or so i will . I have owned everything Apple . I plan on trading in my i phone 12 pro max trade in value i was told by Apple today 600.00 trade in value . And i will also upgrade to I phone 14 pro max this week . Its my birthday coming up next month and i work really hard and have been having a hard time lately i want to treat myself . Remember iphone 8? Yes this series 8 apple like repeating that era. With iphone X at that moment which changing flagship strategy from apple (with now called the pro model) and make iphone 8 is the basic model, so same here with the apple watch ultra will be new standard smartwatch pro model from apple, and make the series 8 just like the basic model. So apple literaly filled all spot in their entire lineup product Iphones (SE-regular-pro) Watch (SE-regular-ultra) ipads (basic-air-pro)
